POW!!!
I felt immense force against my chest as I noticed I was flying through the air.
CRASH!!!!
My fall was stopped by one of the houses as I started to feel pain throughout my whole body. Everything felt like it was completely shattered by the initial hit.
Even though the pain consumed my whole body... I couldn’t help but stare ahead. The blonde man was gone, along with the others who attacked the village.
My life was going to end here. I couldn’t stop them from doing a single thing to my village and parents died in the process.
Blood started to form around me before the sound of footsteps made their way over to me. Just barely I was able to turn my head towards the sound.
It was one of the elders of the village... Somehow he survived everything that happened here.
"Kain. Don’t worry son, I will make sure you get out of here. You aren’t allowed to die," He said while he helped pick me up.
I started to lose my consciousness as the pain disappeared.
(7 Days Later... Currently in the middle of nowhere.)
I open my eyes to the sight of a roof over my head, yet no screaming or burning buildings are around me. It looks like I was brought to a completely different place.
What is the last thing I remember? Oh, right.
The elder picked me up after I got sent flying into one of the houses by the man who killed my father. Xareth was his name.
I won’t be forgetting that name no matter what. I’ll make sure to find him one day when I figure out how to kill the dragons.
"I see you are finally awake Kain," The elder speaks up from across the room.
I turn my head slightly to see him drinking tea in the corner of the room at a table.
"How am I alive...?" I ask with a curious tone.
That’s one thing I didn’t consider at first... I should’ve died back in the village from that attack. I’m not strong by any means when it comes to withstanding such a powerful attack.
"I saved your life of course. You are still healing though so you need to take it easy for now," The elder answers with a calm tone.
"I still don’t understand," I say while looking down towards my hands.
Scars cover my hands and go all along my arms, almost like my body was absolutely torn apart by the force.
The pain from before is no longer there but I don’t understand how I am even still breathing.
"I did what I needed to. You will become a slayer Kain," The elder replies before sipping his tea.
"A Slayer?" I question.
I only heard brief stories about them but I never once thought they were actually true.
"Yes. Our village was one of many who helped in giving birth to them. I only helped awaken it so that you would survive," He answers calmly.
"What do you mean awakened it?" I question.
There’s too many questions to ask and I don’t want to just sit around doing nothing this whole time. It will eat me alive if that’s all I do.
In that moment I hear someone walk in through the door.
"So this is the new slayer? He doesn’t look like he’ll last long," A girl says with a cold tone.
I turn my head towards the voice to see a girl with long green hair, green eyes, and she is wearing a kimono. A sword also appears to be at her side.
"In time he’ll become stronger," The elder responds.
Finally I stand up from the bed and my legs almost give out instantly, but I manage to catch myself.
I won’t fall down... Especially not in front of people. I was going to begin training with a sword anyway before the attack happened. Maybe now this is my opportunity to do so before anything else happens.
Plus I hate the way this girl is talking about me already.
"What is special about a slayer? Can you please just answer that for me elder," I ask before the girl can speak.
"Slayers are those who hunt down the dragons, but some are special compared to the others that exist out there," The elder answers without any hesitation.
"Special?" I question.
"Some are capable of taking the power from the dragons, along with traits," The girl answers before the elder can.
I don’t really know how to react to any of this since I just watched everyone I know die.
But that might be more of a reason why I need to get strong enough to fight back against them. I can’t get revenge for anyone if I’m as weak as I am.
"I’m sorry I didn’t introduce her to you Kain but you’ve been asleep for 7 days. This girl is one of the people who will help train you to use a sword, her name is Ash," The elder speaks up.
He stands up from his seat and sits his tea down.
7 days. I’ve been asleep for that many days... Wow. Then again, I’m lucky it wasn’t any longer than that.
"I didn’t know I was out for so long. I want to start training as soon as possible," I respond while clenching my fists.
"You aren’t fully healed yet," The elder says with a serious tone.
"But I can’t just lay around doing nothing. I-I need to get stronger," I argue.
"I’ll take care of him elder. You can trust me," Ash chimes in.
"Weren’t you just talking down on me?" I ask with a bit of a surprised tone.
She gives a shrug as she looks towards me.
"Doesn’t mean I won’t train you. That’s how you’ll survive," Ash responds with a small smile.
"Go ahead then. Don’t let him die," The elder says while moving towards the door.
"I won’t," She assures him.
I trust the elders judgement with Ash but I’ve never met her before... This will definitely be interesting.
