Slime True Immortal

Chapter 430: The Magic Goddess and the Slime

After receiving the summons, Casimir was the first to step into the main hall of the Royal Palace.

Today, he wore a clean white robe, holding Rem in his arms as she radiated a soft glow.

Rem was trying her best to rein in her light, but as she passed through the corridor, she still stood out like a small lantern.

Lya followed behind Casimir, and as usual, her day was filled with misfortune.

Falling flat on her face before getting down to business had practically become a necessary ritual for her.

Just as she entered the palace,

she tripped.

Lya scrambled up, rubbing her sore spots.

After this awkward moment, she quickly caught up to the one ahead.

Lya felt a little embarrassed.

Walking up to the center of the hall, Casimir performed a respectful bow according to the newly established etiquette of the Slime United Empire.

Rem, nestled in his arms, squirmed slightly, trying to mimic a bowing motion.

But due to her slime form, the movement was hard to pull off.

“Your Majesty, hehe~” she said, finally settling for a simple greeting, letting out a silly laugh.

“Did it hurt badly?” Chen Yu asked, concerned.

“It’s fine! Big Brother already gave me some healing earlier.”

As she spoke, a soft, warm light emanated from Rem, shining on the scratches from her fall.

The light shimmered faintly, carrying a gentle healing aura.

Chen Yu, crouched on his throne, observed this scene quietly.

From his perspective, he could sense a shift in Rem.

Yes, he had many things on his mind.

Casimir remained composed, showing no change in his demeanor.

Lya, as always, was exceptionally unlucky.

Such incidents dampened her mood.

The biggest change was Rem.

Chen Yu’s gaze settled on her, and his expression grew serious.

He was certain that the little one in front of him had evolved into a new slime variant.

In his perception, Rem’s gel body had become faint, as if it had transformed into a semi-energy state.

Her original gel substance probably made up less than half of her total body mass, with the rest entirely converted into Holy Light.

The fact that she could almost completely conceal that light proved that her control over this new form was rapidly improving.

Even so, when she crouched on the floor, she still shone like the brightest fragment freshly cut from a magical motherlode.

This brightness would appear profoundly sacred in a dim underground church. Even in this sunlit palace hall, she was still an eye-catching presence.

“What is this?” Chen Yu couldn’t help but ask aloud.

“A Holy Light Slime?”

Casimir clasped his hands in front of his abdomen, nodded slightly, and followed his gaze to explain, “Your Majesty, this is precisely why we’ve come about Bishop Rem’s situation.”

“About half a month ago, around noon, Bishop Rem was dozing in the church’s front courtyard. When she woke up, she told us she felt her body becoming light and airy, as if something that had always been binding her had finally loosened.”

“After a few days of observation and adjustment, I discovered that her rank had indeed broken through, and the nature of her gel had undergone a significant change.”

“My understanding is relatively shallow. I can only guess that Bishop Rem has become a new slime variant. But I have no reliable conclusions about the specific characteristics or growth path of this variant.”

Chen Yu fell into thought.

Think back to when Big Brother Slime had to endure countless battles, engage in grueling training day and night, and finally, with Lya’s help, barely break through to the Gold-Rank.

But Rem had merely dozed off for an afternoon to achieve this transformation.

This sounded utterly ridiculous.

Casimir quickly added, “I suspect there might be a Sacred Spirit awakening inside her body, which is what caused this change.”

Chen Yu raised an eyebrow. “A Sacred Spirit?”

He’d never encountered anything like this before.

“Yes, about three days after her breakthrough, Rem began exhibiting behavior never seen before. She would wake up in the middle of the night in a daze, speaking in a completely unfamiliar tone, with no memory of having left her spot.”

“I’ve carefully observed her and found that the slime acts as if it’s been inhabited by another consciousness. But since the newcomer only appears occasionally and doesn’t cause any disturbance, I assumed she bore us no ill will, and I didn’t report it in time.”

“But today, when I received the summons, I thought it was the right time to mention it to Your Majesty.”

Chen Yu shifted his gaze to Rem.

Under his scrutiny, Rem trembled visibly.

“Rem, you don’t remember any of this?”

Rem wobbled her gel body, her voice timid as she replied, “Rem doesn’t remember anything.”

“It’s just that every day, I feel like I’ve done something, but there’s nothing in my head.”

“It’s like I’m sleeping all the time, but I’m not tired at all.”

Lya stepped forward from behind Casimir. “Your Majesty, I saw something in her dreams.”

Chen Yu’s gaze turned toward her.

“I saw a woman in her dream. She had no face, just the outline of a female figure, talking to herself all the time, pacing back and forth, saying she felt trapped.”

“A woman?”

Chen Yu pondered, looking at Rem, deep in thought.

Could the awakened consciousness inside her be that Sacred Spirit from before?

The Sacred Spirit within her body was definitely gradually awakening.

Over time, the consciousness of this Sacred Spirit might grow clearer, until one day it fully awakens.

By then, Rem’s own consciousness could be devoured, or she might merge with the Sacred Spirit. Even he couldn’t predict the outcome.

The most urgent matter now was to figure out the identity of this Sacred Spirit and whether it held any malice toward the Empire.

He didn’t want his bishop to be taken over by some unfamiliar will, causing unpredictable behavior from the Empire.

“Can you communicate with her?” Chen Yu asked Rem.

Rem shook her gel body in confusion, her voice timid. “Maybe she doesn’t like me. Every time I try to talk to her, she doesn’t respond.”

Lya interjected, “Your Majesty, I can try.”

“Rem can now use the Devour Spell to enhance her power. If the consciousness inside her needs more power to awaken, then let’s feed her some spells.”

“Like right now, every time Rem gets stronger, that Sacred Spirit wakes up for longer periods than before.”

“We should have a clear talk with her. We can’t let her devour poor little Rem.”

“Mm-hmm!” Rem nodded vigorously, rubbing her gel body affectionately against Lya.

Chen Yu could tell that their relationship on a daily basis was obviously very good.

He felt a sense of relief.

It seemed that despite the three bishops being of different races—Vampire, Human, and Slime—they at least got along quite harmoniously.

He looked at Lya and wobbled his gel body. “Alright, give it a try.”

“On it, Your Majesty.”

With permission granted, Lya’s voice turned cheerful.

She placed Rem in the center of the hall, on the sunlit empty floor, took a few steps back, confirmed the distance, and took a deep breath.

Rem crouched on the floor, clearly a bit nervous.

“Mm, Sister Lya, be gentle, okay?” she said, her voice soft.

“Don’t worry, just tell me if anything feels wrong.”

After making sure Rem was ready, Lya slowly raised both hands.

【Greater Holy Light】

Lya raised her hands high, chanting the incantation steadily.

Just as the Golden Slime had previously used the consumption of magical residual energy from fighting Casimir to accelerate its own evolution, Lya’s Holy Light now served as Rem’s nutrient for evolution.

Lya’s Holy Light spells were released with practiced precision.

A complete Greater Holy Light condensed and formed, then struck Rem without pause, landing on her body, unceasingly continuing the spell.

Amid this continuous downpour of light, Rem’s entire form began to glow brighter.

A brilliant radiance emanated from within her.

The light accumulated more and more, filling the entire main hall, completely surpassing the speed of Lya’s relentless output.

Then, the light began to condense inward.

It was at this moment that she suddenly opened her eyes.

Rem closed her small eyes, then slowly opened them.

Her eyes, usually clear and naive, now held a strange depth.

She naturally looked toward Chen Yu on his throne, her gaze lingering on the small crown atop his head, and finally understood what had happened. Her form blurred and vanished from the spot.

Teleportation?

Chen Yu was somewhat surprised. This meant the Sacred Spirit inside Rem had a far from simple origin; in life, she had at least been a Legendary Mage.

But this was no problem for him.

Her teleportation range hadn’t even extended beyond the coverage of his Divine Sense.

Chen Yu transformed into a streak of green light and shot out of the palace.

“Rem” had just appeared in the swamp outside Slime City, not even having time to catch a breath, when she saw a mass of green light hurtling straight toward her.

Her gel body involuntarily trembled, and she instinctively cast Teleportation again.

This time, she transported herself deeper, landing in an underground dungeon’s dark chamber, its entrance long forgotten by adventurers.

She floated quietly in the darkness for a moment, confirming no movement around her, just about to let out a relieved gurgle.

Boom!!!

The rock ceiling above her suddenly exploded.

A mass of slime, wearing a crown, bathed in the daylight pouring through the breach, descended from above and landed in front of her, blocking her in this dead end of the ruins.

She didn’t attempt a third Teleportation.

After determining that escape was futile, she chose to go with Chen Yu voluntarily.

When they returned to the palace, Casimir and Lya were waiting for them.

Lya looked at the “Rem” brought back and couldn’t help but feel a little sad.

“A strange Sacred Spirit, trying to bully our Rem,” she muttered softly.

She then picked up the small “Rem” from the floor, her voice full of worry and affection.

The gel mass in her arms seemed dazed, still not entirely sure where she was.

Chen Yu wasted no time.

“Miss Sacred Spirit, I think you should explain yourself clearly.”

“Rem” fell silent for a long time.

But seeing Chen Yu crouched on the throne, the shadows of four Great Daos faintly stirring behind him, releasing an oppressive pressure that made her gel body quiver, she finally gave in.

“Respected Slime King, please show mercy.”

“Give me a little time.”

Chen Yu wobbled his gel body, his tone sharp. “The Empire needs to know exactly who is lurking inside its bishop’s body.”

“Is your presence a threat to my bishop and my people?”

His Divine Sense pressure, vast as a sea, bore down heavily.

The shadows of the four Great Daos condensed in the air above the main hall, shrouding the entire hall, making the atmosphere grow grave and solemn.

“Rem,” held in Lya’s arms, trembled uncontrollably, let out a timid “mm,” and finally couldn’t hold back anymore.

“I’ll talk, I’ll talk! Please, Your Majesty, spare me.”

“My name is Leonie Isabella. Originally, I was a Chosen One from a thousand years ago. After experiencing some accidents, my soul fell into slumber. When I awoke again, I found myself reborn into this world in the form of a slime.”

“I mean no harm to this little one. She is the consciousness born during my sleep. From a soul level, she is still my sister.”

Chen Yu retracted part of his pressure. The shadows of the four Great Daos slowly faded behind him, and his tone softened. “Chosen One of which deity?”

“Rem,” or rather Leonie, raised her head and spoke the name with solemnity. “The Magic Goddess, Magia.”

“She is a righteous deity of humanity, inclined toward order and peace. I am no exception. I never committed any act that harmed Zeyarila in my lifetime. There is no reason for me, after death, to suddenly become an evil spirit obsessed with devouring others’ bodies.”

“I am equally perplexed by my current situation. But please believe, there is no necessary conflict between me and this Empire.”

Chen Yu crouched on his throne, not immediately responding.

The Magic Goddess Magia—he had heard that name before.

When Oros was introducing the participating factions of the divine war a thousand years ago, he had mentioned this human deity.

She was one of the first human gods to respond to the Giant Dragon Father God’s call, voluntarily joining the camp to oppose the Giants.

Her Chosen One could harness the power of magic itself.

The name Leonie—he was hearing it for the first time.

But if she was truly Magia’s Chosen One, she should at least have a historical record.

As for whether what she said was true or not—that remained to be verified.

However, this being the most absurd time in Zeyarila, all sorts of strange things were happening.

Sacred Spirits descending, souls reincarnating—not out of the question.

The fact that she could mention Magia, a deity forgotten by mortals, suggested she had at least enough understanding of history. Her words carried some weight.

But was it really that simple?

He sensed that this Sacred Spirit was hiding more than just a little.
