At the tall boy’s words, Chen Meizhen and the others all looked toward Su Qing. A surprised Li Huan whispered, "Qingqing, do you know this guy?"

Li Huan had seen this tall boy before. She had previously seen Liu Jiajia talking with him, but she didn’t recall Su Qing ever interacting with him.

"I don’t," Su Qing whispered back to Li Huan, then turned to the boy. "I don’t think I know you."

"Sorry, I was hoping to have a word with you alone." The tall boy’s face was a little red, but he still mustered his courage and spoke to Su Qing.

Su Qing couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow.

Seeing the tall boy’s flushed face, her roommates shared a look of understanding. They let out a soft "Ooh," which made his face turn an even deeper shade of red. Still, he insisted, "I really just want to say a few words to you in private. Is that okay?"

"Qingqing, we’ll wait for you up ahead," Liu Juan said with a suppressed smile. She grabbed the reluctant Li Huan and started walking ahead with Chen Meizhen and the others.

Now, with no one else around, Su Qing and the tall boy were alone. Su Qing said, "You can speak now. What did you want to tell me?"

"I..." The tall boy seemed nervous. He glanced around, and after confirming that they were truly alone, he looked at Su Qing. The moment he met her gaze, his face flushed even redder.

Su Qing: ’...This is the first time I’ve ever seen a grown man’s face get this red.’

Su Qing already had a good guess what he wanted to say.

The tall boy stammered, but he seemed to finally summon all his courage. He said to Su Qing, "Su Qing, you... you have to... have to be careful lately. Some... someone wants to hurt you."

Su Qing stared at the tall boy in surprise. She never would have imagined that he’d come looking for her, his face as red as a boiled shrimp, only to say something like this.

"How do you know?" Su Qing had never interacted with this boy before, yet here he was, running over to warn her.

"Don’t... don’t ask me that. I can’t say." The tall boy swallowed nervously. "Anyway, you just have to be careful."

After speaking, the tall boy gave Su Qing one last deep look, then turned and hurried away.

Su Qing watched his retreating back, a bit stunned. She didn’t think of chasing after him to ask more questions. After all, in this world, given her current Wood Ability level, no one could really hurt her. Setting everything else aside, her natural defenses were strong enough to block bullets, let alone knives or clubs, even without using her superpower.

The boy was unwilling to say more, and Su Qing wasn’t about to force the issue in public. But that didn’t mean she was just going to sit back and wait for something to happen. With a slight twitch of her finger, a wisp of green mist swept over a patch of ivy vines the tall boy had passed. A tiny tendril swiftly broke off from the main vine and flew onto his head.

The tall boy didn’t notice a thing. The tiny tendril wriggled a bit and burrowed into his thick hair.

A faint smile touched Su Qing’s lips. This was a new skill she had grasped after her superpower broke through to the Sixth Rank. By covering a plant with her green mist, she could use it as a remote surveillance device. Even if it left the range of her Domain, preventing real-time monitoring, she could later track the plant by the green mist’s aura and review past events through it. ’It’s a shame I only figured this out in the last few days,’ she thought. ’Otherwise, I could have used it on Tian Qiu back then.’

However, the skill had a flaw. If the person being monitored discovered the plant and removed it, she would lose her surveillance.

In the end, her Wood Ability wasn’t omnipotent; there were still things it couldn’t account for.

"Su Qing, Su Qing! What did that guy say to you?" When Su Qing walked over, Chen Meizhen and the others gave her waggling eyebrows and knowing looks, their faces full of gossip.

Su Qing found this amusing. She couldn’t tell them the truth, of course, so she just said, "Nothing much. We just exchanged a few words."

"I don’t believe you. He definitely likes you," Sun Xiaowen said with a grin.

"Yeah," the others chimed in teasingly.

"Hey, hey, hey, take it easy, you guys," Li Huan said, stepping protectively in front of Su Qing and grinning at her roommates.

"Li Huan, you should be on our side," Ye Qingqing said with a laugh.

"No way. Qingqing’s my little sister," Li Huan replied, smiling.

Watching them all laugh and joke around, Su Qing’s eyes crinkled into a smile. "Well, I’m about to go grocery shopping. We’re having a big lunch today. If you guys aren’t in a hurry, I’ll just go buy what I like to eat."

"AHHHH, DON’T! Qingqing, I want braised chicken wings!"

"I want steamed fish."

"Me, me, me! I... I want Four-Joy Meatballs."

...

Winter break officially began, and Su Qing and Li Huan returned to the compound.

"AHHHH, this gray squirrel is so cute!" Li Huan shrieked with delight upon seeing a gray squirrel next to Mrs. Li. She hadn’t come home last weekend because she was preparing for final exams, so she had no idea about the squirrel.

The gray squirrel’s eyes lit up when it saw Su Qing. In a few hops, it landed on her shoulder, its big tail wagging back and forth. It even rubbed its face against Su Qing’s cheek in a show of affection, which made Li Huan’s eyes sparkle even more. "Qingqing, this squirrel is adorable! Quick, let me hold it! I love it!"

Mrs. Li said with a smile, "This gray squirrel is quite attached to Qingqing."

Su Qing smiled. "It kept me company the whole time I was on Xiqing Mountain, and it followed me back."

As she spoke, Su Qing placed the gray squirrel in Li Huan’s hands. Ecstatic, Li Huan took the squirrel and stared at it eye-to-eye. "Hello, little squirrel," she asked happily. "Are you hungry? I can feed you something tasty."

The gray squirrel SQUEAKED twice and pointed at the nearby hazelnuts.

Li Huan looked at Su Qing in astonishment. "Qingqing, it really understood me!"

Mrs. Li chuckled. "It’s true. This little squirrel is incredibly smart; it’s as if it can really understand us. And it’s so well-behaved. Your grandpa has already taken it out to show it off several times."

Seeing Li Huan happily go off to feed the squirrel hazelnuts, Su Qing went to pour a glass of water. She secretly added a drop of Green Liquid to it and handed it to Mrs. Li. "Grandma, have some water."

In the days since she’d been back, Su Qing had secretly given Mrs. Li the Green Liquid a few times. However, Mrs. Li hadn’t been to the hospital for a check-up recently, so Su Qing didn’t know the current status of the shrapnel in her head.

’Still, the Green Liquid can’t do any harm,’ she thought. ’A few more doses won’t hurt.’

"Ah, good." Mrs. Li happily took the glass of water.

Su Qing asked nonchalantly, "Grandma, have you been having any more headaches lately?"
