Natasha Romanoff was yanked off her feet.
She hit the ground hard and instinctively prepared to roll away, create distance, and recover the initiative.
Instead...
She heard a woman’s soft, teasing voice.
For reasons she couldn’t quite explain, she looked up.
"...Sarah?"
Standing over her with an amused smile was Evenson’s finance manager and household administrator.
Sarah regarded her with unmistakably flirtatious eyes, arms folded comfortably beneath a figure that was impossible to ignore.
They had only met a handful of times.
Yet Natasha remembered every encounter.
Sarah always looked at her with an intensity she’d normally only seen from men.
Later, after discovering Sarah’s preferences, Natasha had spared a brief moment of sympathy for Evenson before resolving to avoid the woman whenever possible.
Flirting with men for intelligence gathering?
That was second nature.
Flirting with women?
That was unfamiliar territory.
And after a particularly unpleasant encounter with another obsessive woman not long ago...
She had no desire to gain experience.
"I never realized you could move like that," Natasha said, her eyes settling on the black whip loosely coiled in Sarah’s hand.
"You’ve seen very little of me, sweetheart."
Sarah flicked the whip away before casually pulling Natasha against her.
She leaned close enough for her breath to brush Natasha’s ear.
"It’s rare we get to enjoy a private date."
"I’d hate for anyone to interrupt."
This time, at least, her hands behaved themselves.
Mostly.
They simply rested around Natasha’s slender waist.
The nearby S.H.I.E.L.D. agents were still frozen in shock.
Someone had slipped within arm’s reach of them without making a sound.
Even worse...
The legendary Black Widow had been captured almost instantly.
Several agents raised their rifles.
Sarah responded by pulling Natasha even closer.
Now no one dared fire.
"Relax."
Sarah rested her chin lightly on Natasha’s shoulder and smiled at the agents.
"If one of you accidentally hurts my beautiful guest..."
"I’ll skin you alive and use your hides as my diary."
The threat was delivered so sweetly it somehow sounded even more disturbing.
Natasha, however, remained remarkably calm.
"You should all head to the Captain."
"I’ll stay here."
"And have a nice chat with Miss Sarah."
The meaning was obvious.
Don’t waste time rescuing me.
Complete the mission.
The strike team’s response perfectly demonstrated S.H.I.E.L.D.’s priorities.
They were gone before she’d even finished speaking.
Sarah pouted.
"No loyalty."
"I thought I could keep them occupied a little longer."
She had expected at least a brief standoff.
Instead...
They’d abandoned Natasha without hesitation.
"They’re agents."
Natasha smiled faintly.
"So am I."
"The mission comes first."
"True."
Sarah sighed dramatically.
"Just like that stern lady."
"She didn’t even slow down."
She was referring to Melinda May.
After seeing Natasha captured, Melinda had spared exactly one glance before continuing toward the factory.
"The Cavalry earned that nickname for a reason."
Natasha chuckled.
"Even I try not to provoke her."
"I suppose."
Sarah tilted her head.
"When she keeps that serious expression..."
"She can be rather intimidating."
Then her eyes narrowed mischievously.
"...Though imagining her pinned beneath me has its own appeal."
Natasha involuntarily shivered.
Feeling the movement, Sarah immediately smiled apologetically.
"My mistake."
"I shouldn’t talk about another woman while I’m on a date with you."
"It’s fine."
Natasha suppressed the chill running down her spine.
She smoothly steered the conversation elsewhere.
"Why are you delaying them?"
"Is it because you enjoy having an audience..."
"...or because your boss needs time?"
A flicker of calculation flashed through her eyes.
Sarah’s fingers had already wandered toward Natasha’s collar.
She clearly wanted to continue.
Fortunately for Natasha...
Some trace of self-control still remained.
"What exactly is Evenson doing?"
Natasha asked softly.
"Why does he need you to keep us occupied?"
As she spoke, one hand slowly reached behind her and rested against Sarah’s thigh.
Sarah let out an appreciative sigh.
"...Now that’s nice."
She closed her eyes briefly.
"I suppose telling you won’t matter."
"The ritual’s entering its final stage."
"When it’s finished..."
"Everything changes."
Natasha’s eyes sharpened.
A ritual...
So he’s preparing some large-scale spell.
Once it’s complete, this entire operation could become impossible.
She couldn’t afford to stay here any longer.
Her hand remained on Sarah’s thigh.
Her other hand slowly slid onto the arm wrapped around her waist.
"Do you remember my codename?"
Sarah blinked.
"...Hm?"
Before she could react...
A sharp crackling burst erupted from her wrist.
Tiny arcs of electricity danced across her skin.
Natasha had attached one of her high-voltage Widow’s Bite discs directly onto Sarah’s arm.
Her insulated combat suit protected her from the discharge.
Sarah had no such protection.
Taking advantage of the brief paralysis, Natasha twisted free and sprang backward.
She smiled.
"The Black Widow has a sting."
Ordinarily, the electrical charge was powerful enough to incapacitate a grown man.
Sarah merely flexed her fingers.
"...Electricity?"
Instead of looking angry...
She looked delighted.
"So that’s what you’re into?"
Her smile widened.
"I’ve got something much more exciting."
Crack!
Her whip struck the ground.
Soft violet light washed over her body.
Black hair cascaded over her shoulders.
Dark eye shadow framed her eyes while violet lips curled into a seductive smile.
Bat-like wings unfolded from her back.
Her clothing shifted into revealing demon attire that left little to the imagination.
Below those impossibly long legs...
Her feet became elegant cloven hooves.
Curved horns gleamed atop her head.
Despite every demonic feature...
She somehow looked even more captivating.
"Pretty, aren’t they?"
Sarah proudly pointed at her polished horns.
"I wax them regularly."
Natasha stared for a moment.
"...They are..."
She answered almost automatically.
"...surprisingly beautiful."
Sarah’s smile brightened instantly.
"You really think so?"
She clasped her hands together happily.
"I knew it."
"We’re obviously perfect for each other."
