Chapter 62: Chapter 62: Woke Up
Lin Jingjing, the very person on their minds, was just now slowly rising from the lawn.
She felt so refreshed after that sleep, every trace of fatigue completely gone.
Even the dull ache in her head had vanished, replaced by a feeling of lightness. Lin Jingjing stretched languidly, twisting her waist and flexing her arms.
The small animals gathered around her, the cats and dogs rubbing against her pant legs.
They were making adorable little sounds, so cute it made you want to give them a good pet.
"How long was I asleep? It’s about time I woke up, isn’t it?" Lin Jingjing asked, her eyes still heavy with sleep.
"WOOF WOOF WOOF—" ’You’ve been asleep for almost three days...’
Lin Jingjing froze, surprised to hear the dog’s bark register in her mind as a human sentence.
"Have I been asleep that long?" Lin Jingjing asked in surprise.
"MEOW MEOW—" ’That’s right! That’s right!’
Lin Jingjing crouched down and stroked the cat and dog, a smile on her face.
"I’ve been sleeping for so long, I have to go back. You all eat and drink well here, okay?" Lin Jingjing said with a smile.
At once, all the small animals started crying out, and Lin Jingjing found it terribly noisy.
"All of you, be quiet," Lin Jingjing said, holding up her hands to signal for the little animals to quiet down.
At her gesture, the small animals all fell silent.
"I know you don’t want me to go, but my friends will only be more worried about me."
"I’ll come find you to play next time."
After saying this, Lin Jingjing left the Spiritual World.
In the real world, Lin Jingjing’s eyes slowly fluttered open. Feng He, who had been keeping vigil by the bed, noticed instantly. "Sister Lin, you’re finally awake!" she cried out.
As she spoke, she threw herself forward and hugged her.
Caught in a full embrace, Lin Jingjing raised her arms to hug her back, a smile appearing on her face. "I made you worry. I was just taking a nap."
"That was one hell of a long nap!" Feng He tightened her arms, hugging her even more tightly, her voice trembling.
Hearing the tremble in her voice, Lin Jingjing stroked her head, patting it again and again in a soothing gesture. "Don’t worry. I was just sleeping for a bit in my Spiritual World."
"I feel fantastic now..."
"Really?" Feng He didn’t believe her. She let go and focused her spiritual power to examine Lin Jingjing’s body, discovering that it was suffused with a green glow from head to toe.
It was clear she was in excellent condition. Feng He finally breathed a sigh of relief after checking.
She muttered, "As long as you’re okay, as long as you’re okay."
"We were all so scared you were going to leave us."
Lin Jingjing sat up in bed, then stretched lazily and said with a smile, "How could I ever leave you?"
"I was just too tired and needed some rest."
Feng He finally let go of the worry that had been weighing on her heart. She smiled and nodded. "Mhm."
Relieved, she quickly opened her Star Ring to make a video call to him. Mo Xuan answered almost immediately.
"Feng He, did something happen to Sister Lin?" As Mo Xuan spoke, his heart was pounding, and his eyes were filled with worry.
The two men standing beside him didn’t speak, but they watched Feng He with tense expressions, their breathing shallow.
Feng He smiled and told them, "Sister Lin is awake!"
"She’s in great shape. There’s nothing wrong with her at all."
Upon hearing this news, the three of them let out a collective sigh of relief.
Shi Feng even slapped his chest dramatically, shouting, "That’s great! If something had happened, I swear I would’ve blown all those mutant beasts to bits!"
"Hahaha, with that small frame of yours? You couldn’t blow anything up," Gu Kaiwen chimed in. "But I’ll go with you. How dare those mutant beasts be so arrogant!"
"Alright, it’s good that she’s awake," Mo Xuan said with a smile. Then, his gaze fell on the large, dark circles under Feng He’s eyes, and he added with concern, "You haven’t rested properly these past two days. Now that Sister Lin is awake, you should get some sleep too."
"Training starts tomorrow. You’ll be exhausted if you don’t get a full night’s sleep," Mo Xuan reminded her. "Take care of yourself."
"Mhm!" Feng He listened, the smile on her face growing wider. "You should rest well, too."
After saying this, Feng He added, "Love you."
She hung up the video call immediately after. Mo Xuan had heard those two little words loud and clear.
Mo Xuan’s earlobes instantly turned red, and he became flustered.
Seeing his reaction, the two guys beside him started teasing, "Ooh, Feng He made you blush with just a few words."
"Look at those earlobes! They’re so red."
"A young man’s blush is better than any grand confession."
"Right, right. After all, Feng He is beautiful and gentle," Gu Kaiwen said, slinging an arm around Mo Xuan’s shoulder. "You’d better treat her right."
"After all, the three of us are like her protective older brothers."
Mo Xuan’s face was burning. He shoved Gu Kaiwen and said, "She’s my fiancée. As if I need you to tell me that."
While Mo Xuan was being teased by his two friends in the men’s dorm, Feng He, in the women’s dorm, found herself under the smiling gaze of Lin Jingjing.
"Did I interrupt you two lovebirds?"
Being watched like that by Lin Jingjing, Feng He’s face slowly turned red.
She stood up and mumbled something unintelligibly. In the end, Lin Jingjing only caught the words, "No, we weren’t."
"Are you sure?" Lin Jingjing teased, pressing her.
Feng He got flustered, her voice rising. "I said we weren’t, so we weren’t!"
Having annoyed her, Lin Jingjing quickly tried to soothe her. "Alright, alright, you weren’t. No need to get so angry."
"Hmph..."
Feng He let out a soft hmph, then took two bottles of Nutrient Liquid from a nearby table, handing one to her.
"Here, drink. You must be hungry."
Saying this, Feng He opened her own bottle and started chugging it.
After finishing it, she lay down on her bed, pulled the covers over herself, and said, "I’m going to sleep. You’re on your own."
She fell asleep the moment she finished speaking. It seemed she really was exhausted.
Listening to the steady sound of her breathing, Lin Jingjing smiled, got out of bed, and went to freshen up.
After she was done, she finished the Nutrient Liquid, then changed her clothes and went downstairs.
She had just reached the ground floor when someone blocked her path. She recognized him at a glance: it was Aidan, the one who had confronted them the other day.
"You’re blocking my way. Is there something you need?" Lin Jingjing asked.
Having lost his best friend, Aidan had long since shed his previous innocence. He wore a grim expression as he said, "I want to talk to you."
Lin Jingjing raised an eyebrow. ’She didn’t even know this man. What could they possibly have to talk about?’
But since he’d gone to the trouble of stopping her, she figured she might as well talk.
"Fine."
The two of them went to the quietest corner of the cafeteria and sat down. Aidan bought some snacks and placed them on the table.
"Eat up," Aidan said, pushing the snacks toward her.
It was currently mealtime, so the cafeteria was incredibly lively, as noisy and chaotic as a wet market.
