Chapter 86: Chapter 86: Angry?

Shi Feng stood beside him, a smile on his face, and asked, "Feel any better?"

Mo Xuan honestly shook his head. He really didn’t feel better.

Right now, he just wanted to beat that girl up. Beat her up hard.

’She’s a total psycho.’

Seeing his fuming expression, Feng He walked over with a smile, patted his shoulder, and consoled him, "It’s a fight; getting hurt is inevitable. Don’t be so angry."

"You’ll get wrinkles if you’re angry, and that’s not a good look."

Hearing Feng He’s words, Mo Xuan sighed softly, put his arm around her shoulder, and said, "Alright, I’m not angry."

The last match was between Lin Jingjing and Lan Guang. There was no suspense about the outcome; Lin Jingjing won.

After all, everyone had seen her beat Bei He that morning.

To give Lan Guang a chance to have some semblance of a match, Lin Jingjing even went easy on him.

But Lan Guang was still defeated.

Jiang Lusheng recorded each win and loss.

He soon discovered a pattern. None of the five, including Lin Jingjing’s group, had lost. Even the weakest, Shi Feng, could fight someone with Grade A spiritual power to a draw.

The strength of these five was quite impressive. Another point was that all five of them had Grade D spiritual power.

"Interesting." Jiang Lusheng’s lips curled up as he looked at the long string of ’D’s.

Lin Jingjing’s strength was immense, yet her spiritual power was only Grade D. Did this mean that the nature of spiritual power itself was changing?

’It seems the winds of change are coming to the Empire.’

After the afternoon training session ended, the five of them trudged to the rear kitchen, looking utterly dejected.

They wanted to eat, but they still had work to do.

The moment they stepped into the rear kitchen, they were startled to see several leaders inside, dressed in white aprons, chef’s hats, and masks.

Captain Li stood to the side, a helpless look on his face. General Zhang wanted to come to the rear kitchen to watch. Could he say no?

’No.’

Fortunately, the robots kept the kitchen spotless, cleaning it at least twice a day.

The ingredients were also fresh, personally picked and washed by robots, which was the only reason he hadn’t been punished.

"Good day, sirs!" the five of them shouted in unison, then watched as their arrival made the already cramped rear kitchen even more crowded.

"May I ask what brings all the sirs here today?" Lin Jingjing asked, standing at the front of the group.

"To inspect your cooking skills," Beisang replied. "Now hurry up and get ready."

Hearing this made the five of them feel even more exhausted. Usually, when it was just the five of them in the rear kitchen, they could vent about their frustrations and relieve some stress.

Now they couldn’t even complain and were being inspected. It was exhausting!

’We’re just five insignificant cooks, slaving away at menial tasks every day until we’re dead tired.’

’And now, all of a sudden, the leaders are paying attention to us? No, thank you.’

Filled with unspoken anger, the five put on their uniforms, went through full-body disinfection, and entered the kitchen. ’Eat, eat, eat!’

’Can’t they just drink a couple bottles of Nutrient Liquid? We drink it every day. It’s only those precious soldiers who can’t stomach it.’

All five of them were burning with anger, and they could only vent it on their cooking.

They stir-fried with vigor, as if trying to assault the onlookers with the fragrant aroma.

To the leaders watching from behind, this action only made it seem like they were cooking with practiced efficiency, and the dishes they produced were incredibly fragrant.

Lin Jingjing, in her anger, applied a bit too much force and snapped the handle of her spatula.

The other four were unfazed. Feng He simply opened a nearby tool drawer, took out a new spatula, rinsed it in the sink, and handed it over.

"New one," Feng He said.

Lin Jingjing took it, casually tossing the broken one into a large trash can nearby.

Captain Li saw this, and his eyes went wide.

’No wonder these spatulas get used up so quickly! So it’s Lin Jingjing’s fault!’

’Why use so much force? Does she think the logistics department has too much money?’

The first pot of food was quickly stir-fried. Lin Jingjing turned down the heat and scooped it into a large basin.

She had just placed it on a long table, waiting for a robot to take it to the service window, when Beisang had the robot take it to a private room in the cafeteria instead.

That huge basin of food became the leaders’ dinner for the evening.

Lin Jingjing was stunned. Her expression changed as she looked at them. ’Can they really eat that much?’

The other four finished cooking their dishes one after another, and the results were all carted off to the private room by robots.

A full five large basins!

Those basins were as big and deep as bathtubs!

The way the five of them looked at the leaders changed. ’Total gluttons.’

Perhaps their shocked and speechless expressions were too obvious, as Beisang coughed to cover his embarrassment and said, "We have high spiritual power, so our energy consumption is also high."

"This might not even be enough for us."

Hearing this, Lin Jingjing silently walked over to the preservation cabinet, opened it, and took out a few bottles of Nutrient Liquid, holding them out. "You can drink this."

At the sight of the Nutrient Liquid, the leaders all silently averted their gazes. After tasting such delicious delicacies, how could they possibly be willing to drink Nutrient Liquid?

Usually by this time, the first wave of dishes would have been served, and the soldiers queuing outside would already be eating.

But not today. This prompted the soldier at the front of the line to shout into the kitchen, "Logistics! Where’s the food!"

Once one person shouted, the people behind him started clamoring as well.

"Why isn’t the food out yet today!"

"Why are you cooking so slowly today?"

"We’re starving!"

"Are you guys slacking off?"

Hearing the shouts, Shi Feng threw down the pot-scrubbing brush, went to the service window, and said, "We’re running late today. You’ll get it when we’re done cooking."

Hearing they had to wait longer, the soldiers were not happy.

"It’s always ready by this time! Why the delay today? You guys must be slacking off!"

Shi Feng’s temper flared. He was working himself to the bone day in and day out, and now he was being accused of slacking.

Shi Feng shot the man a ferocious glare and said, "Slacking my ass! The five of us came straight here after being dismissed. We work ourselves to death, and this is the thanks we get? Keep yelling and I’ll just have the robots cook."

"If you want to eat, wait here. If you don’t, then get lost!" Shi Feng roared.

The cook was angry, and everyone instantly fell silent, terrified of having to go back to eating robot-cooked food.

It was either completely bland or incredibly salty, and the flavors were always bizarre.

Fruit could be stir-fried with meat. They had it once and never wanted to see that dish again.

Now that they had someone who cooked incredibly delicious food, how could they possibly accept the robot’s cooking?

"Then... take your time," the man at the front said weakly. "We can wait."

"Then be quiet!" Shi Feng snapped before turning and heading back into the rear kitchen. Hearing his outburst, the leaders inside felt a little guilty for some reason.

General Zhang rubbed his chin. "Not bad," he said. "The logistics positions for the legion competition can only belong to you five." With that, he turned and left the rear kitchen.

Once General Zhang left, the others offered a few more words of praise and followed him out.

Captain Li didn’t leave. He stood there, looked at them, and asked, "Are you angry?"

"How would we dare?" Feng He replied, her tone dripping with sarcasm.
