Kigard’s greatest strength lay in spatial laws.
Ever since he began working for the Magus Civilization, Kigard had done just about everything over the years.
He had helped the Magus Civilization steal advanced technological secrets from the Gallant Federation and had taken part in attacks on the federation’s haulers.
This time, he had even taken on the role of messenger.
Delivering a message to an ordinary overlord would have been one thing, but Kigard truly did not want anything to do with the infamous devils and demons.
He was deeply worried that a single misstep would end with him being crushed and devoured by these ferocious creatures, who were known for their brutal nature and terrible reputations.
But did he have a choice...?
Carter Gustavo lowered his head and examined the letter after receiving it.
As the demon overlord read the letter, he exuded an air of profound calm.
None of the demon kings gathered around him dared to even breathe too loudly.
However, anyone familiar with the two overlords of the Quatar Star Pirates—Carter Gustavo and the White-Eyed Sorceress—knew that these two were actually quite easy to get along with.
Most of the time, they were rather reasonable.
The reason their reputations were so terrifying was largely because of the Rank Four and Rank Five devils and demons under their command.
Of course, the two overlords’ record of decisiveness and ruthlessness in combat had also added a bloody edge to their names.
In terms of alignment, the members of the Quatar Star Pirates could be classified as Chaotic Evil!
Just as many extraplanar deities, and even some deities within the Magus Alliance, suspected, the Quatar Star Pirates were indeed secretly working for the Magus Civilization.
They specialized in cleaning up unruly elements for the Magus Civilization and handling all the dirty work that could not be done openly.
As for why these notoriously vicious star pirates had not yet been wiped out by the Magus Civilization, the reason was obvious.
The Magus Civilization allowed them to exist.
After all, who would cut off their own hand?
The Quatar Star Pirates were truly indispensable.
“Oh? So the White-Eyed Sorceress is not coming here after all.”
After reading the letter, Gustavo drummed the armrest of his throne with his sharp black nails.
A wisp of eerie blue-violet demon flame suddenly flared up, incinerating the letter and erasing any direct evidence of his communication with the Magus Civilization.
Gustavo’s throne was pitch black, with a menacing design covered in jagged barbs.
It looked quite different from the Blood Throne used by the Bloodwar Monarch, the peak Rank Six demon Sein had once encountered in Faeloria.
The throne upon which Gustavo sat had quite a history.
It was a replica personally crafted by Gustavo himself, modeled after a throne once owned by his predecessor.
The original throne had been known as the Throne of Destruction!
That was not something any ordinary being could control, not even an overlord-level entity!
Gustavo’s Demon Throne could not compare to the true Throne of Destruction. Even so, it still barely qualified as a low-tier world-class secret treasure.
For overlords, world-class secret treasures were no longer that rare.
If they truly wanted to, even without mastering the art of artifact forging, they could use their overwhelming overlord power to craft low-tier world-class secret treasures!
It was just that very few overlord-level beings would actually do so.
Given their exalted status, crafting an inferior world-class secret treasure that was not even suitable for their own use would be nothing short of embarrassing!
Besides, overlord power was not something to be wasted so casually.
Because of this, world-class secret treasures remained rare throughout the Astral Realm.
What Gustavo had learned from the letter was that the White-Eyed Sorceress would continue her mission of destruction deep within the Gallant Federation’s heartland instead of rushing over to Divine Descendants World to join the battle.
Ever since Nergal, the “leader of the black mages”, returned to Magus World wounded, the black mages and black knights dispatched by the Magus Civilization had gradually gone quiet in recent years.
The only groups still actively wreaking havoc in the rear of the Gallant Federation and putting their lives on the line were these demons and devils.
Unlike demons, who delighted in bloody and gory rituals like creating flesh-and-blood altars, devils operated far more discreetly.
They achieved their goals through manipulation and temptation.
In recent years, many of the Gallant Federation’s life planets had fallen into chaos, and some had even suffered large-scale rebellions. All of these incidents were connected to the underhanded schemes secretly orchestrated by the devils.
Leaving the devils in the heart of the federation to stir up trouble was putting them to good use.
In the blink of an eye, Gustavo, who had already mapped out their next war strategy, turned his eerie demonic eye toward Kigard.
Among the demons, Gustavo had long been known as “the Wise.” He carried himself with a certain refinement, unlike most rough and savage demons.
Gustavo did not continue intimidating Kigard. Instead, he smiled and said, “The force joining us in conquering and developing Divine Descendants World is a civilization known as the Dawn Empire. They are also staunch allies of the Magus Civilization.”
“There are certain matters where it would not be appropriate for the demons to take the lead. How about you serve as the liaison between us, the Quatar Star Pirates, and the Dawn Empire?” Gustavo asked.
Although Gustavo asked with a smile, Kigard did not have the slightest courage to refuse.
Fortunately, the Magus Civilization had not assigned him any other urgent tasks. Kigard forced out a stiff, awkward smile. Even with a white mask covering his face, he could not fully hide his fear and nervousness.
“Sure, I’d be delighted to serve you!” he replied.
Gustavo did not say much more. Rising from his throne, he glanced down at the crimson plane below, which had already been reduced to a rotting landscape of flesh and blood.
“Take a portion of the blood crystals harvested from this world and give them to this young man,” he said to the peak Rank Six demon king standing beside him.
“After all, he is doing us a favor. We should at least show some courtesy,” Gustavo added with a smile.
Kigard could not help but glance once more at the gruesome, decaying plane below. He shuddered involuntarily.
A moment later, Kigard’s eyes widened in astonishment as he looked at the “blood crystals” handed to him by the demon king.
Judging from their appearance, these blood crystals would be more accurately described as
“blood-colored crystal diamonds”.
They were treasures formed from the condensed flesh-and-blood essence of all living beings in an entire world.
Back when Sein was in Faeloria, the blood essence the Spider Queen had extracted from the creatures in the canyon had already greatly astonished him and significantly accelerated his body-tempering process.
The blood-colored crystal diamonds before Kigard were clearly even more precious. They contained the life essence of countless creatures from an entire medium-sized world.
Who else but demons with immense destructive power could possibly create such resources?
“Thank you, my lord!” Kigard said, bowing respectfully as he held the bundle of blood crystals, which had already stained his white gloves red.
