Sovereign of the Ashes

Chapter 1951: Raging Might

A massive arm descended from the sky, slamming directly into the Grand Cosmic World’s planar barrier.

The starlight barrier, woven from the laws of the world itself, now visibly caved inward under the combined force of Makhast’s immense strength and the impact of his law power.

The dozens of stacked shields and energy barriers layered over it began collapsing and shattering one after another.

To accomplish such a feat through the strength of a single individual was something even overlord-level beings found difficult to believe.

Was this the power of a peak Rank Eight?

No wonder the Cosmic King, Fire Phoenix, Vivian, and the others had been no match for the Third Pharaoh before them, even when they joined forces!

With the First Pharaoh of the Amenkha Empire in seclusion and the Monster Emperor still embroiled in severe internal conflict, the Third Pharaoh, Makhast, effectively represented the Amenkha Empire’s ultimate combat power.

His overwhelming might sent shockwaves through the overlord-level powerhouses both inside and outside the Grand Cosmic World.

As the vast majority of overlords, including the Cosmic King, felt apprehension and even a faint trace of fear rise in their hearts, Aeberton tightened his grip around the constantly humming Dark Blade. He seemed even more excited and restless than before.

The Third Pharaoh’s Sealed Fist had already descended, sinking deep into the planar barrier.

Judging by appearances alone, it was hard to imagine that the Grand Cosmic World’s planar barrier possessed such astonishing resilience.

The Cosmic King and the others should have counterattacked immediately, but they were intimidated by the overwhelming aura pressing down on them and froze in place for a moment.

Overlord-level beings were often imagined by mid and lower-tier creatures as distant, majestic, and untouchable existences.

In reality, they feared death too.

They felt fear too.

In the end, Aeberton could no longer suppress the battle fervor surging within him. He let out a furious roar and swung the Dark Blade violently toward the sky.

A massive pitch-black blade silhouette appeared both inside and beyond the Grand Cosmic World’s battlefield.

As fist and blade collided, law-infused shockwaves swept outward, forcing billions of living beings to prostrate themselves.

Regardless of whether Aeberton could defeat Makhast, the very fact that he dared to draw his blade had already placed him above far too many overlords.

Whispering Plume, who also hailed from a top-tier civilization, was a different story.

When he had previously faced an ordinary Rank Seven monster king, he had attacked boldly and confidently.

But now, faced with the far more powerful Makhast, this Rank Seven overlord, who had not roamed the Astral Realm for very long, had clearly lost some of his edge.

The clash of laws between the Rank Eight overlords sent ring after ring of impact ripples spreading across the Grand Cosmic World.

Fortunately, the Grand Cosmic World was a large-sized plane with profound foundations and extraordinarily high resistance to damage.

An ordinary medium-sized plane might be able to withstand the descent of an overlord, but after only a few rounds of clashes, it would likely shatter into pieces.

Makhast also sensed the tenacious fighting spirit of the Rank Eight overlord from the Magus Civilization below. Instead of anger, he felt delight.

With a booming laugh, he drew his right arm back slightly. In the next instant, an even more ferocious and domineering fist mark appeared once again in the skies above the plane.

A sharp crack, like glass splitting apart, echoed through the skies of the vast world.

Believing that he had nowhere left to retreat, and that this was a desperate, all-or-nothing stand, the Cosmic King let out a low growl and joined the battle against Makhast.

It was not just the Cosmic King. All the other overlord-level beings participating in the defense of the Grand Cosmic World were now forced to act, whether they were willing or not.

Another native overlord of the Grand Cosmic World had a snake-like appearance. Its tail constantly emitted a hissing sound, and patches of missing scales were visible across its body.

These scales had not been torn away by the viziers of the Amenkha Empire. They had been bitten off by the overlord itself during its long path of growth and advancement.

This native overlord had a rather peculiar title. The beings of the surrounding planes and star domains all called it the Gluttonous Snake Overlord.

It was a powerful overlord who wielded the wind tunnel law and possessed late-stage Rank Seven strength.

Among the four native overlords of the Grand Cosmic World, the Snake Overlord was actually the only one at Rank Seven. That alone was enough to speak volumes about its strength.

It was indeed far more formidable than the two unfortunate overlords who had already perished.

A powerful vortex of laws surged from the Snake Overlord’s tail, then shot toward Makhast high in the sky.

According to rumors from beyond this world, this Rank Seven overlord was extremely “greedy” and “gluttonous”. Its appetite was said to be so great that it had even resorted to eating its own tail.

Perhaps that was merely a rumor. The Snake Overlord’s act of devouring its own tail was likely connected to the evolutionary mysteries of its species.

However, in terms of individual strength, the Snake Overlord was still no match for a top-tier Astral Realm being like Makhast.

More and more overlords were joining the resistance against Makhast’s supreme might.

Although Vivian, the Fire Phoenix, and the others had already evacuated the Grand Cosmic World, the Cosmic King had used his connections and wealth to gather four other overlords and four overlord phantoms to defend his homeplane.

What exactly was an overlord phantom?

It was a law clone created using fragments of an overlord’s soul.

On the surface, these overlord phantoms barely possessed Rank Seven combat power.

In truth, however, they were little more than bluffs. They might fool creatures below Rank Seven, but their weaknesses would quickly be exposed before a true overlord.

Without enough Omnipotent Soul to serve as their foundation, they could not sustain themselves for long.

Even so, the sight of so many beings exuding overlord-level auras appearing within the Grand Cosmic World at the same time was enough to make anyone who saw them feel apprehensive.

Even the generals, viziers, and monster kings of the Amenkha Empire who had descended upon this star domain set aside their earlier underestimation and became far more restrained when faced with the Grand Cosmic World’s lineup.

Several viziers and imperial generals expressed their intention to assist Makhast, but he raised a hand and stopped them.

With another booming laugh, an energy arm, even more exaggerated and ferocious than before, descended from the heavens once again!

Since the quality of his opponents was no longer enough to push Makhast to his full potential or allow him to glimpse a higher realm, he could only make up for it with sheer numbers.

Makhast was a madman who ceaselessly pursued power, and he was still growing.

Hundreds of thousands of years ago, he had still been obsessed with the thrill of slaughter and destruction.

Now, hundreds of thousands of years later, Makhast had begun to ponder what power truly was.

Terrifying law fluctuations, combined with the impact of immense power, ravaged the Grand Cosmic World and the space around it.

Even from the far reaches of the cosmos, one could sense the intense battle erupting in this vast plane.

At the rear of the Grand Cosmic World’s star domain, a Magus Civilization legion was setting up defenses.

Regalis, the Mother of Dragons, appeared before Vivian and asked, “Are we really not going to lend a hand? Can Aeberton hold out on his own?”

Vivian shook her head. “This is his own choice. The Magus Civilization cannot commit too much of its strength to the Grand Cosmic World. Trading space on the Grand Cosmic World battlefield for time to defeat the Gallant Federation was a plan we decided on long ago during our previous remote conference.”

“Tell Rank Seven knight Ota to prepare for withdrawal as well. We need to relocate to the border of this massive star domain,” she added.

Ota was a knight overlord of the Alveroth Empire, and currently the only knight overlord in the Magic Empire.

“That far? Didn’t they say the Immortal Realm would send reinforcements?” Regalis asked in surprise.

Vivian looked at her and replied, “That’s precisely why. We need to prepare for the arrival of the Immortal Realm’s main forces and safeguard the large teleportation arrays along the border of this star domain. That’s also our escape route back to the Magus Civilization.”

“Alright,” Regalis replied with a nod.
