Sovereign of the Ashes

Chapter 1980: Another Clash

Vast quantities of resources were being transported into the Divine Descendants Star Domain without pause.

At the same time, large numbers of low-tier cannon fodder and enslaved creatures were continuously being thrown into this massive star domain battlefield.

As the number of overlords joining the fray in this vast star domain drew close to six, and the total number of legions on both sides was about to exceed ten billion, Divine Descendants World was destined to become another major theater of war in the grand conflict between the Gallant Federation and the Magus Civilization!

On the current civilizational battlefield, there were already four such major theaters of war.

For a local theater to escalate into a major theater of war was not something a single person or a single event could decide.

Rather, it was the result of both civilizations pushing forward at the same time, mixed together with countless uncontrollable factors.

And when Sein, a Rank Five combatant, was swept into that tide of war, he felt like nothing more than a grain of sand.

He did not know whether he should consider himself lucky to have arrived in time to witness it all, or whether he should feel anxious and apprehensive over how little control he had over his own fate.

However, compared to the countless insignificant lifeforms caught up in this vast war, Sein was already fortunate and powerful enough.

At the very least, he could still control a portion of his own destiny.

Those weaker than him, or those without strength and backing, could only be carried along by the current.

The next phase of the war in the Divine Descendants Star Domain progressed far more smoothly, at least in Sein’s eyes.

Marduk had fled back to his homeplane, and the other ordinary gods and weaker pantheons had little desire to resist.

The three offensive missions Gongsun Wudi assigned to Sein were completed with almost no effort. He simply led his forces forward and invaded the three planes one after another.

The Clash of Civilizations was not always an evenly matched contest.

At the very least, as long as Sein had two Rank Six combatants under his command, his offensives against low-level planes rarely encountered any major setbacks.

The only exception had been the previous assault on Florenza Plane. At the time, they had happened to run into the plane during its ascension phase, which resulted in a minor setback.

But how often did one come across a plane in such a special state?

And among all the low-level planes in the Astral Realm, how many truly possessed the qualifications and foundation needed to break through and become a medium-sized plane?

Fifteen years later...

After capturing the final plane demanded by Gongsun Wudi—a microplane known as the Flower Rain Spirit World—the low-tier robot cannon-fodder legions Sein had rebuilt under his command had not dwindled after years of war. Instead, their numbers had rebounded to one million.

A microplanar battlefield like that was not accessible by beings of Rank Four and above.

Therefore, during the assault on the Flower Rain Spirit World, Sein ordered his mechanical legions, led by the intelligent angel robots, to crush all resistance within that world.

Energy Amethysts could repair and upgrade the vast majority of mechanical beings. It was a product of law energy.

During the assault on the Flower Rain Spirit World, Sein deliberately used the Energy Amethysts he had stockpiled to create three demigod-level angel robots, pushing each of them to the very limit of what was possible.

Demigod-level angels represented the current limit of what Sein and the Magic Cube were capable of achieving.

Mass-upgrading these angels to Rank Four was still far beyond Sein’s current ability.

The fact that he could produce three demigod-level angel robots was already impressive enough. It meant that Sein now possessed the ability to mass-produce demigod-level combatants.

However, no one understood the cost better than Sein himself. He knew exactly how much Energy Amethysts he had spent to create those three demigod-level angels.

Now, all three of them had become Fermera’s most capable assistants.

It seemed that the more powerful a robot was, the higher its intelligence became. This phenomenon appeared to be connected to their CPUs and computational processing systems.

By now, Sein’s identity as a mechanic had been firmly established. When he told Belphane and Marie that he was a pure elementalist, neither of them believed him.

After securing the final planar battlefield, the Dawn Empire finally reined in its offensive momentum slightly and began preparing to face the incoming reinforcements from the Gallant Federation.

With his relatively well-developed logistics and intelligence network, Sein already knew who the next wave of enemies would be.

He led his legion to a low-level planar battlefield on a world called Buros.

Gongsun Wudi was stationed on the nearest medium-sized plane battlefield.

Another fierce war was on the horizon. It could erupt at any moment.

After such a long period of rapid warfare, Sein discovered that the morale of the Dawn Empire’s legions had not declined at all.

Instead, it had grown even higher.

In Buros World...

Guo Shao was a member of the Dawn Empire’s combat ranks. With a Rank Two life level, he held the position of junior captain and centurion.

The Dawn Empire’s military ranking system was extremely complex, involving both official posts and personal martial cultivation level.

Although it was highly unlikely for a low-ranking martial warrior to command those of higher rank, every person in the Dawn Empire, without exception, yearned for a higher military rank and official rank, as well as greater power.

This was a large-sized world, brimming with vitality and potential.

Guo Shao was merely a junior captain from the lower corps who had followed the army to the Divine Descendants Star Domain. Yet in just a few decades, he had advanced from the early stage of Rank Two to the late stage of Rank Two.

War was the stage upon which martial warrior made their names.

However, after spending so much time in the Divine Descendants Star Domain, Guo Shao had begun to feel a little homesick.

Mainly, he missed the women back home.

The sunset over Buros World looked very similar to the sunset in the Dawn Empire. Leaning against the battlements, Guo Shao almost felt as if he had returned to his childhood, lying atop the haystacks back home.

Back then, sunlight would fall over him, warm and comforting.

But the sunset before him now gave off an entirely different feeling... It was red, almost like blood.

“Captain, looks like they’re coming,” a burly man said as he walked up to Guo Shao.

Guo Shao’s half-closed eyes snapped open. He looked toward the horizon, and sure enough, faint black dots had begun appearing in the distance.

Hovering above Guo Shao and his men was an absurdly massive planetary-class war fortress.

Although it radiated an overwhelming pressure, it also brought an indescribable sense of security to lower-ranking Dawn Empire legions like Guo Shao’s at the same time.

Guo Shao had first seen that gigantic war fortress while moving with the low-tier legions through the previous plane. In the end, he had been lucky enough to be assigned to the same battle zone as it.

“If I ever get the chance, I gotta go inside and take a look. I’ll be able to brag about it to Yulian and the others when I’m back in the Dawn Empire,” Guo Shao muttered as he gazed at the colossal fortress circling overhead.

Yulian was one of his wives. She was a Rank One martial warrior.

However, since she was pregnant at the time, she had not been included in the Dawn Empire’s campaign roster for the war against Divine Descendants World.

By now, a stable teleportation channel had been established between the Divine Descendants Star Domain and the star domain where the Dawn Empire was located.

The Arriba Chamber of Commerce had helped arrange it. When it came to cross-star-domain teleportation technology, they really knew what they were doing.

Guo Shao had heard that many of his colleagues and old friends, especially those who had been injured, had already returned to the Dawn Empire to recover.

But Guo Shao had no intention of going back. The injury to his shoulder was nothing serious. It had healed long ago.

He intended to break through to Rank Three during this war and accumulate as much loot as possible.

If he did not make a fortune from this war, then this trip would have been for nothing.

Guo Shao wanted to become a general one day. He wanted to give Yulian and his other wives a better life.

“Earning a Sixth-Grade official post in this war shouldn’t be too far-fetched, right?”

As the enemy forces gradually emerged on the distant horizon, their numbers growing larger and larger, Guo Shao nocked an arrow to his bow and muttered with quiet determination.
