After the battle on the icy plains ended, Sein led his legions through several more battles within Divine Descendants World, fighting numerous native deities and achieving impressive victories each time.
One day, while Sein was resting inside the planetary fortress, he suddenly received a request for an audience from Sethem, the Rank Six demon king.
“Huh? He has recovered from his injuries already?” Sein asked in surprise, feeling as though not much time had passed.
Sein had a fairly good impression of Sethem, and he intended to use this Rank Six demon king as a way to obtain some top-grade Blood Crystals produced by the Demon Clan.
As for Kigard, Sein had not been able to get in touch with him for some time since the war in Divine Descendants World began. He did not even know whether the Phantom Thief had entered this large-sized plane.
Therefore, maintaining a good relationship with Sethem was also in Sein’s best interest.
Stepping out of the laboratory, Sein immediately went to receive Sethem.
Sethem’s injuries had clearly not healed yet. The moment Sein came face to face with the demon king, the Faceless Mask sent him a signal.
Outwardly, Sethem appeared to be in perfect condition. In reality, however, his internal injuries were the most difficult to heal.
After using his special ability, Bloodfall, Sein felt that Sethem would need to consume large quantities of top-tier resources, such as Blood Crystals, to restore his vital energy as quickly as possible.
Sein had also heard that on the battlefield of Divine Descendants World, the demon legions positioned on their flank had already created several gates of flesh and blood.
No wonder the Demon Clan was notorious throughout the Astral Realm.
If the Magus Civilization’s legions were the ones conquering this world, then once the enemy’s main resistance had been wiped out, they would not engage in meaningless slaughter.
Sethem seemed relieved by Sein’s timely arrival, and Sein noticed that small detail.
He looked curiously at the demon king before him and asked, “You seem to be recovering well, but I still think you’d be better off resting. What brings you here?”
Sein’s question was direct, as he was never fond of beating around the bush.
Fortunately, demons were different from devils. The vast majority of demons had straightforward personalities as well.
“Our young master, His Highness Enrique, sent me here to present Master Sein with a gift, as a token of gratitude for your assistance to our Demon Clan,” Sethem replied.
As he spoke, Sethem presented a deep-blue fire seed stored inside a special translucent vessel.
Upon seeing the fire seed, a look of slight surprise flashed across Sein’s face beneath the Faceless Mask.
It was like being handed a pillow just as he was getting sleepy.
Not long ago, Sein had been marveling at how greatly this special flame would enhance his Ashen Flame.
He had never expected the demons to actually deliver it to him so soon.
Did I misjudge that demon king?
A trace of suspicion rose in Sein’s heart.
If Enrique Gustavo had wanted to give it to him, would it not have been better to do so directly on that snow-covered battlefield?
Why wait until some time had passed, then send Sethem over to deliver the gift in such a roundabout way?
Shaking his head slightly, Sein, who knew full well that something must have happened behind the scenes, looked once more at the deep-blue flame before him.
Sein was especially interested in this extremely rare natural law flame known as the Cobalt Flame, because it might very well be the key to his breakthrough to the peak of Rank Five.
Although he had not spent much time at the Rank Five stage, Sein still wanted to increase his strength as quickly as possible during the Clash of Civilizations.
The sooner he reached Rank Six, the higher the circles he could move in, and the more resources and authority he would command.
Sein also aspired to follow in his grandmaster’s footsteps and take direct command of a war in a medium-sized star domain. Perhaps that would not only provide him with sufficient war profits, but also give him enough time to explore profound truths.
Simply serving as a mid-tier combatant, rushing from one civilizational battlefield to another, was not the life Sein wanted.
“This gift is too precious. I really have no idea how to repay Lord Enrique. If it’s only meant to thank us for rescuing you, then there’s no need. After all, helping another powerhouse from the Magus Civilization faction in their time of need is the duty of every knight and mage!” Sein declared with righteous conviction.
“Please accept it, Master Sein. I believe our Demon Clan will have many chances to work with you in the future. Talented mages like you are exactly the kind of people we strive to befriend and invest in. In the upcoming battle on Divine Descendants World, if you need anything, just speak directly to us. I, Sethem, am someone who knows how to repay kindness,” Sethem said, pounding his chest.
“Lord Enrique will also certainly do his best to fulfill any request you make,” he added confidently.
Was this really the same Demon Clan notorious for its ruthlessness?
Sein suddenly felt that he might need to reevaluate this race.
At that moment, Sein suddenly remembered that he needed more Blood Crystals. His last meeting with the demons had been too rushed, leaving him no chance to mention it.
Now, the perfect opportunity had presented itself.
“Come to think of it, I’ve long heard of the Blood Crystals refined by your clan. Those top-grade crystals have been extremely useful in my body-tempering experiments,” Sein began.
“If possible, I’d like to make a fair trade with your clan and purchase a batch for my experiments. What do you think...?” he ventured.
“Blood Crystals? No problem!” Sethem waved his demonic claw and agreed immediately.
If Sein had asked for something else, the Demon Clan might have needed to put in some effort to obtain it for him.
But Blood Crystals?
That was simple!
Divine Descendants World was home to trillions of living beings.
Moreover, the lifeforms nurtured on this large-sized plane, especially in terms of vital energy, far surpassed the natives of medium, small, and micro worlds.
As long as there were enough creatures of flesh and blood, the demons could produce more than enough Blood Crystals!
It was merely a matter of constructing a few more gates of flesh and blood.
The request itself was a minor matter. However, since Sein wanted top-grade Blood Crystals, the refinement speed and required quantity might pose a slight challenge.
After a very pleasant discussion with Master Sein, Sethem rose to take his leave.
Before the Rank Six Demon King left, Sein gave him several recovery potions and asked him to pass several dozen Energy Amethysts to Enrique Gustavo as thanks for the fire seed.
Energy Amethysts were produced exclusively by Sein. They were extremely useful to mechanical constructs, but practically useless to beings of flesh and blood.
Considering Sein’s wealth, there was likely nothing he could offer that would truly impress Enrique.
Then again, it was the thought that counted.
Besides, these amethysts did have some collectible value.
“I’ll definitely pass them on to the young master!” Sethem promised.
He was not entirely sure about the relationship between Sein and Enrique.
When the Flame Demon handed the fire seed to Sethem, he had not said much. He had only told Sethem to make it clear that the gift came from Lord Enrique, and reminded him to be polite to Master Sein instead of acting all high and mighty.
After all, demons were known for their hot tempers and arrogance.
Indeed, Sethem was behaving much better than he had when Master Sein first met him.
