Chapter 1282: Chapter 1261: Midnight Ambush (Part 1)

Entering the ’Wagangnai’ territory, Xiao Lin deliberately slowed the car down to a sprinting speed, intending to give someone a time buffer. Yet, upon noticing in the rearview mirror the black-clad figures closing in on him, he slowed down even more.

Xiao Lin’s dark eyes narrowed slightly. Having just dealt with two people, there were now dozens. The person who wanted him dead seemed to know his movements intimately, or maybe they had stationed assassins in every possible location he might appear. If he hadn’t come here, would these people have waited endlessly? How considerate of them.!

The aggressive attack was unlikely to be the work of Murong Lengyue. What benefit would someone bent on his demise gain from this? There were only a few possible players involved. Xiao Lin sneered, taking a deep breath, the coldness on his lips intensifying.

Swish! Swish swish!

Bullets shot from different directions with a whistling sound, striking accurately on Xiao Lin’s expensive car. The front tires burst instantly, causing the front end to dip. The massive impact not only punched dents in the car’s paneling but also shattered the windshield, leaving holes in the glass in front of the driver’s seat.

Within just a few minutes, the expensive vehicle had turned into a sieve. As for the person inside, escaping from a hail of bullets was out of the question. No one saw the door open or anyone escape from the car. With bullets flying thick and fast, anyone emerging from the car would end up like it — riddled with holes.

There were snipers and those MK people. Who were these individuals acting so brazenly? Fortunately, this wasn’t in the city where a reckless shootout like this would cause significant casualties or deaths.

After a wave of sniping, the air fell silent except for the smoke. Dozens of people emerged from the shadows holding heavy weapons, not daring to be lax about the car. They were extremely tense at this moment.

The car was so damaged that it could do nothing more, but the real protagonist had yet to appear. To perish alongside this vehicle would be a relief, but they knew this target was a tough nut to crack. If it were this easy, they wouldn’t be necessary.

One among them gestured to a few others, and they advanced with weapons leveled at the car, while the rest were ready with guns locked and loaded.

Truly well-trained! The entire road seemed eerily quiet. On one side was a residential area, with not a sound in the midst of the gunshots. This was extremely abnormal. Suddenly, the car moved, then shook violently a few times before falling silent again.

Everyone’s nerves were taut. Perhaps the strange movement caught them off guard, and bullets again concentrated on the car’s fuel tank.

With a bang, a blinding flash accompanied by a fierce shockwave sent the parked car skyward. The heatwave soared three or four meters high. Shattered car parts flew in the wake of the blast. Alarms of nearby parked cars blared from the tremor, adding to the chaos. Strangely, no one emerged; the dark buildings were devoid of life.

Just as the car exploded, a shadow crept atop the hill on the opposite side. Its swift body technique resembled a small animal scurrying in the night, fast and alert.

Lying on the ground, the sniper observed the commotion below without moving. He realized a threat was closing too late. Wide-eyed in disbelief, he opened his mouth to speak but saw only blood spurting out. His hand clumsily reached for his cold neck, the sticky sensation teaching him what was happening.

Crack! Amid the blaring alarms, the sound of breaking bones was barely noticeable.

The sniper’s eyes remained wide even in death, seemingly trying to figure something out. But the Grim Reaper spared him no extra time to conclude his thoughts. The one who ended his life tossed his cooling body to the side, standing like a ghost and peering down.

Picking up the sniper rifle, Xiao Lin surveyed all the vantage points through the scope, firing three bullets. Snipers hidden elsewhere were eliminated in an instant, dying without knowing what happened.

Should they move in now that the car exploded? The radio crackled nearby. Xiao Lin glanced at it, and with a swish, a bullet silenced the noise. On the other end, someone froze upon hearing the dull sound.

Like a robot’s neck, it slowly turned to the high ground.

"Over there!" A man in black shouted, aiming his gun at where Xiao Lin stood. The others hadn’t reacted, instinctively firing alongside their leader into the darkness.

Smoke spread thickly after the bullets flew. When it cleared, there was no sign of life in the shadows. A timid person took a step back, still clueless about why the person could escape the exploding car and kill their men, then vanish in unavoidable shots. Was this target even human? How else could they so easily slip from death’s grip without a trace?

"Ah!" It was a scream from stepping on something. Nothing should be in the way, and the sensation beneath his heel made the timid man gasp.

The scream drew everyone’s attention. As they prepared to fire back, Xiao Lin, who had been lurking behind the timid man, sprang up like an arrow. Unleashing all his power as he launched, the spike in his hand found the target’s neck. As he leaped, he withdrew the spike and moved to the next closest person.

Pandemonium! Right in front of everyone, this sudden assailant killed one of their own in an instant. It was a shock not easily borne. The one who initially gave the command gasped deeply, realizing there would be heavy casualties tonight. With a snap of his fingers, the remaining members immediately encircled Xiao Lin.
