Chapter 1295: Chapter 1274: Wedding Banquet Turmoil (Part 3)

The formal banquet began at seven in the evening. When Xiao Lin returned to the hall, Xia Xue was nowhere to be found, and Consort Ling’s presence had also weakened significantly. At a bar, he found Hua Qingyi and learned that Xia Xue had already left with Consort Ling. Although no reason was given, it was evident from his face that there was some trouble. Xiao Lin held back, considering he was on someone else’s turf, surrounded by notable figures.

The stage had already started with conventional platitudes, and the emcee was a heavyweight too; it was said that even Chopin came over as a special guest, though he hadn’t been seen yet.

Xiao Lin felt bored and greeted Hua Qingyi before stepping outside. At this hour, Murong Lengyue wouldn’t have time to find her, and he was happy to enjoy some peace and quiet.

However, the idea was nice, but reality went against it. Before Xiao Lin entered the garden, he heard quite a commotion—likely some debutante being harassed. This was typical behavior for these so-called second-generation officials and rich kids, but it had nothing to do with him. Just as he was about to leave, a familiar female voice screamed, stirring Xiao Lin’s sympathy, prompting him to check who it was.

The hotel’s garden was large, with distinct layers of vegetation. The white carved tables and chairs amidst the greenery stood out, especially the hexagonal pavilion amidst the rock waterfalls where the woman’s scream came from. A woman in white was quite close to the tables and chairs on the grass, surrounded by several men, all dressed in high-end luxury brands, none of them older than thirty.

Xiao Lin stopped about two or three meters from the pavilion, which was close enough to see who the woman was. In his moment of hesitation, one of the men had already made a move on the woman, and the atmosphere suddenly turned sleazy.

"What are you doing? The banquet has started," Xiao Lin walked into the pavilion, hands in his pockets, and sighed at the woman who hung her head. "Is this some kind of game?"

The men, caught in the act, couldn’t help but become angry, rushing toward Xiao Lin. Their breath reeked of alcohol mixed with an intense flirtatious perfume, causing Xiao Lin to frown.

"Oh, who do we have here? Isn’t this the guy trailing behind Young Master Hua earlier?" One of them came closer and suddenly recalled seeing him in the hall. "What? You think being familiar with Young Master Hua allows you to meddle? I see you’re dressed quite sharply; are you making good money as a Hua family bodyguard?"

Xiao Lin’s frown deepened. At that moment, the woman who had been hanging her head raised her face toward Xiao Lin, mouth agape, ready to shout but was silenced by a look from Xiao Lin. "We don’t seem too familiar," Xiao Lin brushed the man’s hand off his shoulder, stating coldly. In truth, he couldn’t recall anything about these people, nor did he know himself to be following Hua Qingyi.

"Heh, even if we’re not acquainted it doesn’t matter. There’s nothing for you here, you’d better hurry back to your boss." With that, he slapped Xiao Lin’s back.

With a forward lurch, Xiao Lin stumbled a step, coughing a few times from his lungs, drawing laughter from those around him. "Tsk tsk, what kind of bodyguard is this? A mere tap and he’s about to fall. Ah, the quality of bodyguards these days is truly concerning. I’ll have to talk to Young Master Hua about recommending a better one."

"Hahaha!"

Xiao Lin turned his back on them, brushed the dust off his pants. "I didn’t know you were here, though this lady is someone my boss has taken a liking to. I’d like to ask you to do me a favor."

"Favor? Kid, did you get your head slammed in a door?" The man who had pushed Xiao Lin squeezed in from behind, full of disdain, his hair long reaching his neck, ends flicked outwards with gel to keep it tidy and slick. "The Hua family might have some name in Yanjing, but here? They’re nothing but a shell. You think your boss is significant enough for me to humor you? Ridiculous."

No sooner had he spoken than a fist flew toward Xiao Lin’s chin, landing precisely where intended. Xiao Lin sidestepped, steadying himself, rubbing the hit area, eyes narrowing. "Your name!"

"What?" The attacker hesitated, quickly realizing. "Why? Planning to snitch to your boss? Hahaha, I’ll teach you a lesson you won’t forget today." He swung again, clearly someone who had practiced for several years, aiming for the same spot as before.

Xiao Lin sidestepped again, the fist only grazing his chin, without actual contact. The angle was deceptive, making it seem like the punch was fierce, accurate, and powerful.

"Your name." His fists clenched together tightly, black eyes flashing coldly. Xiao Lin motioned to the woman, who slowly moved to the pavilion’s edge, obeying his cue.

"My surname is Quan, Quan..."

"Enough!" Xiao Lin interrupted the self-introduction with a firm shout, his eyebrows raised as he stared at him. Quan? Heh. "What? Scared?" The man, seeing Xiao Lin cut him off after hearing the surname, grinned in self-satisfaction, the expression climbing onto his face. "Since you know who I am, hurry up and get out, don’t make me angry here."

"Scared? I’ve never feared anything before, just a mere surname, could it mean anything? Don’t tell me you’re Quan Xianglin’s son!" Xiao Lin clapped his hands, a look of disbelief on his face as he leaned against the man’s chest.

"Damn it, is Quan Xianglin’s name something you can call without respect?" He pushed Xiao Lin’s shoulder, nudging him a step away. "Who the hell do you think you are, treating yourself like a big deal, take a good look at yourself! I’m really Quan Xianglin’s son, and you know what? Bow in apology three times and crawl under here, and I’ll spare you; otherwise, don’t blame me for being ruthless." The man spread his legs, pointing under his crotch at Xiao Lin. "Right here, crawl through."

"Don’t overdo it!" Xiao Lin glared at the spot the man pointed at. There weren’t too many people passing by, and if anyone stepped outside for air, this scene wouldn’t attract them over; at most, they’d think a few rich brats were bullying a subordinate—common sights that were nothing new.
