Chapter 1320 - 1296: The Escaping Scoundrel

Chapter 1320: Chapter 1296: The Escaping Scoundrel

’I’m watching you at all times’ once again revealed shocking insider information, this time with more evidence and clearer photos. Meanwhile, the police have also become involved in this exposé incident, though it’s unclear whether they’re investigating the individuals implicated or tracking the person who exposed them. However, overall, the police involvement makes this case much more interesting.

Xiao Zhenfeng rubbed his lips with his fingers, cleanly and swiftly eliminating Quan Zhendong despite his expectations. He initially thought the first person to die at Xiao Lin’s hands would be Quan Mingyuan, but he only saw himself being beaten and attacked, while killing Quan Zhendong was a good move, giving Quan Xianglin, who was far away in Yanjing, a surprise. He implied that the next target would directly threaten Quan Mingyuan. This series of insider revelations is enough to give them a headache for a while.

In the dim street, the sound of a figure slowly crawled out from beside a trash can, moving a slightly bulky figure nimbly and hunched.

Outside the alley is a main road, crowded with cars. It hosts various businesses and restaurants, with neon lights flashing—not as prosperous as Financial Street, but it can be considered to have a bit of commercial atmosphere.

Round eyeballs look around at the location he’s in, and two hands randomly pat himself to find he’s got nothing. Trembling steps, the man arrives at a grocery store, wanting to make a call. The shopkeeper, seeing his miserable state, tossed him a few coins to go to the street-side phone booth.

The man stops by a window display. In the reflection, he sees himself as a homeless man covered in wounds.

Wang Zhanting had just come out of the bathroom when he received a strange phone call. After answering in a low voice a few times, he hurriedly left the hotel. The car turned corners on the road and finally saw Shao Weihua curled up in the phone booth. After hesitating for a moment, he still walked over to the figure.

"Are you okay?" Wang Zhanting crouched down, pulled up Shao Weihua, and without saying much, led him toward the car.

With a whoosh, the sound of a bullet whizzing past rang in Shao Weihua’s ears. Panicked, he rolled to the side and hid behind the phone booth. "What’s going on?" Wang Zhanting also hid behind the booth, asking.

"How would I know? Let’s leave first and then talk." Shao Weihua still hadn’t figured out what was going on, how he ended up here, and that bullet was clearly meant for him.

"Okay, find a place to hide first, I’ll go fetch the car." Wang Zhanting said as he darted to the left. Whoosh whoosh! Two bullets landed where he was just stepping.

Shao Weihua didn’t dare linger behind the phone booth, taking advantage of the moment to dive into the crowd.

The sudden gunfire scared many passersby, and then a homeless man rushing in further stirred chaos. Some began to call the police, as a car swiftly turned around and drove toward the crowd. "Quick, get in!" Wang Zhanting opened the car door, shouting to Shao Weihua.

Bullets sprayed continuously toward the direction of the car door, and the sound of sirens drew closer. Shao Weihua didn’t have time to think, he dove into the car, arms shielding his head.

As the police car stopped, Rochester saw a black sedan speeding away from the scene, directing a police car to follow while he and his subordinates started to investigate the shooting site.

The escape car charged recklessly to a small motel. Wang Zhanting got a room for Shao Weihua, looked around to make sure no one was there, then they entered the room.

"Mr. Shao, what’s going on? Why is someone trying to kill you?" Wang Zhanting asked impatiently once Shao Weihua came out of the bathroom. "Where have you been these past days? Shao Qinyi has been looking for you. The club got burnt down, why didn’t you contact me?"

"It’s a long story!" Shao Weihua waved off the question, hesitating on whether to reveal his experiences to Wang Zhanting.

"I think we should contact Shao Qinyi first to see who wants you dead."

"Wait!" Wang Zhanting looked suspiciously at Shao Weihua.

"What’s wrong with you? Besides Shao Qinyi, who else can you turn to now? It’s not a time to consider pride."

Shao Weihua paused, looking at Wang Zhanting with a complex expression. It seemed he had never truly understood this person, who now showed a strong and calm side, unaffected even by the gunfire. Was this the same person who always hovered around him, flattering and sucking up?

Realizing he might have been too harsh, Wang Zhanting handed Shao Weihua a beer. "Mr. Shao, don’t blame my attitude. Ever since Siye died, Mu Rongyun has disappeared like he never existed. Now Robert is dead, the club’s gone, and that batch of goods’ whereabouts are unknown. The only one we can rely on is Shao Qinyi. In this situation, no gang wants to help us; even pouring money won’t work, no one wants to be the Xiao Family’s sacrificial lamb."

Wang Zhanting spoke with heartfelt persuasion, but Shao Weihua merely snorted coldly. "Don’t make things sound so absolute. If I could escape from the Xiao Family, I have my secret weapon."

"What? You were kidnapped by the Xiao Family?" Wang Zhanting’s voice revealed surprise. "What exactly happened?"

Shao Weihua waved his hand. "Let’s not discuss this now. Isn’t there talk on the street that possessing the Rose Staff and Dharma Seal could make one the underworld leader worldwide? Hehe, didn’t you polish that Rose Staff? It should be about ready. Go get it. As long as it’s paired with the Dharma Seal, we’ll have people willing to work for us."

"You..."

Shao Weihua laughed sinisterly. "Zhan Ting, I know what you’re scheming in your fox heart, but wanting to break away from me and operate independently is impossible. The Rose Staff is fake after all. If I hadn’t spoken well about you in front of Mu Rongyun, you’d still be standing here lecturing me? This trip to the Xiao Family wasn’t completely in vain; although they’re formidable, they distracted themselves with Quan Mingyuan’s group, giving me a chance to escape, and I managed to bring something back." Saying this, Shao Weihua pulled a box out from his crotch. "Do you know what this is? Xiao Zhenfeng is too conceited. With this, aren’t we afraid of having no one to work for us?"

"What’s this? Dharma Seal!" Seeing the box in Shao Weihua’s hand excited Wang Zhanting. This legendary treasure was the Xiao Family’s heirloom. How could Xiao Zhenfeng be so careless? After the excitement came the doubt.

"Hehe, we can’t let Shao Qinyi know about this. You should arrange things privately; we need to meet Nicholas. With this, it’s more valuable than that batch of arms. (To be continued.
