Chapter 743: Mother, stop interrogating him

“Welcome back,” Elemence said with a smile as they disembarked from Spector.

“Thanks,” Adam replied.

Elemence turned to Eytelis and bowed while saying, “Welcome to Fenix Prime, Eytelis. I’m happy to see that you're safe, and on behalf of Empress Revi, I apologise that you were held captive in our territory."

“It’s fine, it’s not like you could have known about it,” Eytelis said dismissively.

“Where is Revi anyway? I was expecting to see her as soon as we landed,” Tephe remarked.

“She’s currently personally overseeing the operation on Flamyre,“ Elemence explained. “She apologises that she could not come to greet you all in person, but Adams' operation has given us a great opportunity to not only hopefully find out more about this organisation, but also the underground smuggling business within the Ashes Galaxy.”

“The underground smuggling business?” Lorelie asked.

Elemence nodded before explaining, “Every galaxy suffers from some kind of illegal smuggling operation; after all, it’s impossible to stamp out all crime completely.”

“I guess wherever there is civilisation, there is going to be crime,” Emma remarked.

“Some more prevalent than others,” Elemence said in agreement before turning back to Eytelis and saying. “Please follow me; a room has already been prepared for you.”

Somewhere within the known universe, a space station floated within the centre of a dense nebula.

“Supreme Leader, we have identified the cause of the anomaly from Flamyre’s portable subspace relay,” Sub-leader White stated.

“What is it?” The Supreme Leader asked.

“It appears to be a type of virus,” Sub-leader White explained. “Its purpose seems to have been to trace our location.”

“Do we know who is responsible?”

“According to our experts, the virus seems to have been designed by the Nogitsune race,” Sub-leader White reported.

“Senator Kasai?” The Supreme Leader asked.

“That does seem to be the case considering he was scheduled to meet with Mr Mysterious Eight just prior to everything happening on Flamyre,” Sub-leader White replied.

“You believe he tipped off the PSF after planting the virus in an attempt to cover his tracks and make it look like the work of the PSF?” The Supreme Leader asked.

“If he did, he did a poor job considering we identified him,” Sub-leader White replied. It’s more likely it was the PSF in an attempt to make it look like the Nogitsune were responsible, but that doesn’t add up.”

“The Phoenix race wouldn’t risk angering the Nogitsune race,” The Supreme Leader replied.

“Agreed,” Sub-leader White replied. “Then perhaps an unknown third party.”

“Possible,” The Supreme Leader said thoughtfully. “What’s the status of the people you sent? Also, any news on Eytelis?”

“The team successfully bypassed the PSF blockade using a stealth ship,“ Sub-leader White explained. “Unfortunately, Flamyre is swarming with PSF officers, making their investigation difficult. Also, there has been no word regarding Eytelis. It’s possible Mr Mysterious Eight fled with her if she did indeed betray us; alternatively, she may have fled herself if both Mr Mysterious Eight and her assistant Garn somehow died.”

“It’s unlikely she fled herself; she would have asked the PSF for help, and we would have gotten word about it. She is a high-profile figure after all,” The Supreme Leader replied.

“I agree,” Sub-leader White replied.

The Supreme Leader fell into thought for a moment before ordering, “Have our people continue to investigate what happened and search for Eytelis. Also contact Mr Mysterious Eleven and have them confirm if Senator Kasai did indeed meet with Mr Mysterious Eight and try to ascertain whether this was indeed his doing.”

“Good job on getting revenge and rescuing Eytelis,” Revi said happily as she entered the room the group were situated in.

She then turned to Eytelis and greeted him, “Welcome to Fenix Nest, Bureau Chief Eytelis. I’m happy to see that you appear to be in fine health and apologise that I couldn’t greet you upon your arrival.”

“Thank you, Empress Revi. The medicine Adam provided me worked wonders,” Eytelis replied.

“I’m happy to hear it. When I heard you were in a weakened state, I naturally grew concerned. I’m happy to hear my fiancé was able to help you,” Revi stated.

“Fiancé?” Eytelis repeated in shock. “I figured you were in a relationship from the discussion earlier, but I didn’t realise it was so serious.”

“Oh, oh, don’t forget me, I’m your fiancé too,” Tephe said happily.

Adam sighed before looking at Revi and saying, “Stop causing misunderstandings.”

“What misunderstanding?” Revi retorted. “I’ve already told you I plan to marry you in the future.”

“Don’t you want us anymore, Adam?” Tephe asked sadly.

“I never said that,” Adam replied. “But these things have a process; you can’t just jump straight to fiancés after one date, especially one date that was interrupted.

Also, do dragons even get engaged?”

“Nope,” Tephe replied proudly.

“Ugh,” Adam groaned before glaring at Revi, who playfully stuck out her tongue at him.

Eytelis giggled before saying, “Seems you’ve got it tough.”

“I never imagined I would end up dating so many beautiful women,” Adam replied, making the women in question smile before he added. “Actually, before meeting Stace, I never believed I would ever date again.”

“You're all very welcome,” Stacey replied as she smugly smiled.

“Fine, we’ll put this topic on hold for now,” Revi stated before turning to Eytelis and asking, “What do you plan to do now that you’ve fully recovered? Return to Solarian Prime?”

“Nope,” Eytelis replied happily. “I’m going on vacation with you all on Aqua Primus.”

“Huh!” Revi said in surprise. “Seriously?”

“Yup,” Eytelis said cheerfully.

“Does Queen Riniya know about this?” Revi asked.

“Not yet; we were about to call her, as she’s eager to speak with Eytelis, apparently,” Lorelie replied.

“Well, I suppose this is as good a time as ever,” Adam stated as he nodded to Lorelie, who began to fiddle with her uniband.

“Ohh, this’ll be interesting,” Revi said in amusement as she proceeded towards the food replicator.

A moment later, a large holographic screen appeared featuring four women Adam recognised and one he didn’t.

“About time,” Becky complained as soon as the call connected. “You know it’s rude to keep a lady waiting, right? Especially if those ladies are royalty.”

Lorelie chuckled before saying, “That only applies to arranged meet-ups and not if someone is recovering.”

“Eytelis!” Queen Riniya said in surprise upon seeing her friend. “It seems you're fully recovered.”

“Indeed, thanks to the medicine Adam provided me,” Eytelis said happily.

“Hello again, Adam; it’s been a long time,” Liluth said, her beautiful smile never leaving his face.

“Wait, you remember me?” Adam asked in surprise.

Liluth giggled before asking, “How could I forget the man who saved me?”

“I guess that makes sense. I hope you're doing well, Little Liluth?” Adam replied, causing Riniya, Keerla and Shalendra to show surprised looks at his greeting. “You’ve changed a lot since last we met.”

“While you haven’t changed at all,” Liluth replied.

“I guess not,” Adam chuckled.

Riniya glanced at her daughter but chose not to comment on her unusual choice of words, instead greeting Adam.

“So you're the famous Adam Spencer. I finally got to meet the one who saved my eldest daughter's life after refusing our invitation back then. On behalf of my husband and myself, we thank you.”

“You're very welcome, and sorry about the invite, but I was on a date at the time,” Adam replied.

“Yes, with someone who looked awfully like Diva Rowena, if I remember. It seems your tastes haven’t changed,” Riniya replied suspiciously as she glanced at Rowena.

Rowena smiled back at her before saying, “What can I say? My boyfriend is an ass guy.”

Adam rolled his eyes while Stacey and Lorelie chuckled.

“Good to know,” Riniya remarked before saying, “I found your choice of date location rather interesting considering all the wonders Solarian Prime has to offer.”

“Mother, stop interrogating him,” Liluth pouted. “He did save me, remember.”

“And me,” Lorelie added.

“Me also,” Stacey stated.

“So that’s how you're managing to steal all these hearts,” Aphrodite teased.

“Oh, please,” Adam replied while sighing.

“Well, she’s not wrong; you did win my heart by saving my entire race,” Revi said as she sat down and took a sip of her drink.

“Empress Revi!” Riniya remarked in surprise.

“Queen Riniya, it’s been a while,” Revi replied.

“Indeed it has. I wasn’t expecting to speak to you before we arrange this conference regarding the Vlusird Galaxy,” Riniya replied.

“Well, Fenix Nest is my planet,” Revi replied.

Riniya chuckled before saying, “Very true.”

“What do you plan to do about the Vlusird Galaxy?” Emma asked curiously.

“Hmm, honestly, I’m not sure. This kind of situation has never arisen before,” Revi replied.

“That’s why we plan to hold talks with only our most trusted allies. We don’t want them getting wind that we know before we can act,” Riniya added.

“Whatever we decide to do, we’ll need to do it carefully, we don’t have any concrete proof after all,” Revi said with a sigh.

“Is Eytelis’ word not enough?” Tephe asked.

“No,” Revi replied while shaking her head. “No matter how influential and powerful she might be, her word against those of an entire galaxy isn’t going to work.”

Eytelis nodded in agreement, “There are probably only a handful of individuals in the universe who have that much influence.”
