SS Awakening: My Monster Merging System!

Chapter 268: Kill the Summoner First [2] (Fixed)

Before the Frostfang Wolf King’s claws could truly descend, a bone chilling cold had already enveloped Zich’s entire body.

Boom!

An almost transparent Silk Barrier suddenly unfolded from the side. Instead of directly blocking the wolf’s claws, it struck the Frostfang Wolf King’s right foreleg at an angle.

The sharp claws tore through the barrier, but the attack originally aimed at Zich’s head was also forced half a meter off course.

Zich quickly ducked, and the wolf’s claws swept past so close that they almost brushed his hair.

The Frostfang Wolf King had only just landed when its thick silver tail swept toward him.

The fourth skeleton soldier immediately blocked Zich, its bone blade colliding violently with the wolf’s tail. Its entire body was sent flying more than ten meters, and several bones in its chest cracked at the same time.

[Shadow Blink!]

A black shadow flashed, and Zich appeared behind Iron.

However, just as his feet touched the ice, a large amount of frost energy erupted beneath him.

Crack!

Several ice spikes broke through the ground, accurately piercing toward the place where he had appeared.

Iron stepped forward and brought its broad bone weapon crashing down, shattering every ice spike.

Zich’s expression became solemn.

The Frostfang Wolf King had not only seen through his intention to move, but had even predicted where his Shadow Blink would take him.

Before activating the skill, Zich had merely glanced behind Iron. However, that brief glance had exposed the direction in which he intended to move.

The Frostfang Wolf King abandoned its pursuit. Instead, it raised its head and released two low growls. The wolf pack scattered throughout the surrounding area rapidly changed formation. Six Frostfang Wolves released their Frost Breaths simultaneously to suppress Slimy’s Silk Barrier, while several others moved to entangle Iron and the Silverback Ape Grunt.

The remaining Frostfang Wolves approached Zich from different directions, yet none of them directly entered attack range.

They were waiting for the Wolf King to launch its next attack.

At the same time, three wolves on the left were closing in, two Frostfang Wolves on the right were attempting to bypass the Silverback Ape Grunt, and an extremely faint energy fluctuation was moving beneath the ice behind him.

While all this was going on, the Frostfang Wolf King had disappeared into the blizzard once again.

If Zich continued allowing Iron and the Silverback Ape Grunt to defend two separate directions, the wolf pack would eventually tear his defenses apart piece by piece.

However, he did not immediately contract his formation.

He had already determined how the Wolf King gave the commands.

And so far, in a way, it was also the summoner of this wolf pack.

The corners of Zich’s lips slowly rose as a sudden thought struck him.

Since that was the case, he would kill the summoner first!

Commands were rapidly transmitted to his summons.

The two skeleton soldiers originally responsible for protecting Zich suddenly separated toward the left and right, deliberately exposing the gap between them. Slimy also retracted its Silk Barrier, leaving only a thin layer of defense behind Zich.

The Frostfang Wolf King hidden within the blizzard clearly noticed this opportunity.

Whoosh!

A silver white figure burst through the wind and snow, lunging toward Zich even faster than before.

Zich remained where he was. Even when the Frostfang Wolf King crossed the final ten meters, he still did not move.

The blue light in the Wolf King’s eyes became even colder. It opened its enormous mouth, frost energy rapidly gathering between its fangs.

Just as it prepared to bite down on Zich’s neck, the second skeleton soldier suddenly threw its bone blade from the side.

The target of the bone blade was not the Frostfang Wolf King’s body, but its already opened mouth.

The Frostfang Wolf King abruptly turned its head. The bone blade flew past its fangs, but the Frost Breath it had been preparing to release was also forcibly interrupted.

Iron completely abandoned the ordinary Frostfang Wolves before it and turned toward the Wolf King. The two Frostfang Wolves blocking its path were sent flying by its enormous sword.

The Silverback Ape Grunt changed targets at the same moment.

It allowed a Frostfang Wolf’s claws to tear open its shoulder. Its thick legs suddenly erupted with power, launching its entire body forward like a cannonball before its fist slammed into the Frostfang Wolf King’s waist.

Bang!

The Frostfang Wolf King’s enormous body slid several meters to the side, and large cracks spread across the frost armor covering its waist.

Slimy’s Silk Barrier immediately unfolded behind it, sealing off its retreat.

The other three skeleton soldiers closed in simultaneously. Three bone blades stabbed toward its eyes, front leg, and abdomen.

Rage appeared in the Frostfang Wolf King’s eyes.

Roar!

Violent cold energy erupted from its body. The three skeleton soldiers were thrown away simultaneously, while Slimy’s newly formed barrier rapidly froze and shattered.

The Frostfang Wolf King forcibly twisted its body, leaving three deep cracks across the bone armor on Iron’s left arm before lunging toward Zich again.

Even though it was already surrounded by all of Zich’s summons, it still refused to change targets.

As long as it killed Zich, the other summons would naturally lose control.

There was nothing wrong with the Frostfang Wolf King’s judgment.

However, just as its fangs came within half a meter of Zich, another black light flashed.

[Spirit Exchange!]

Zich’s body disappeared.

In his place appeared the skeleton soldier that had been sent flying by the Wolf King’s tail and had remained lying on the distant ice.

Crack!

The Frostfang Wolf King bit down on the skeleton soldier’s shoulder, sending shattered bones flying in every direction.

Simultaneously, Zich appeared more than ten meters away.

This time, he had never once looked in the direction of that skeleton soldier. Instead, he selected its position through the perception it transmitted to him.

The Frostfang Wolf King had no opportunity to predict his destination.

"Iron!"

Boom!

The enormous sword came crashing down from above, striking the Frostfang Wolf King’s body and completely shattering its frost armor alongside the flesh and bones beneath it.

Following that, the Silverback Ape Grunt grabbed both of the Frostfang Wolf King’s hind legs from behind. The muscles covering its body bulged as it forcibly held the Wolf King in place and then looked at Zich, who stood not too far away.

The Frostfang Wolf King struggled madly and raised its head, preparing to summon the wolf pack.

However, before that could happen, Zich’s right hand had already slashed forward.

FWOOOSh! Shing!

A blood red arc cut through the blizzard and accurately struck its unprotected throat.

Puchi!

The Frostfang Wolf King’s head smashed heavily into the ice, and after its enormous body convulsed several times, it finally stopped struggling completely.

[Ding, you have killed the Frostfang Wolf King.]

[Ding, you have obtained the Frostfang Wolf King’s Spirit Orb.]

After losing the Wolf King, the wolves attacking Iron and the Silverback Ape Grunt clearly fell into confusion. Several Frostfang Wolves still attempted to continue attacking, but most had already begun retreating.

After a brief period of chaos, the remaining wolves rapidly fled into the blizzard and disappeared into the depths of the valley.

Zich did not order his summons to pursue them.

Obvious cracks had appeared across the bone armor on Iron’s left arm after being repeatedly bitten by the wolves. The wound on the Silverback Ape Grunt’s shoulder was still bleeding, and all four skeleton soldiers had suffered varying degrees of damage.

Continuing the pursuit could earn him more tombstone slots, but it could also result in one of his summons being completely destroyed.

Zich took out a short blade, cut open the Frostfang Wolf King’s chest, and extracted a fist sized ice blue soul stone.

Almost the instant he put away the soul stone, a silver white spatial passage slowly appeared before him.

Razeil’s voice came from the other side.

"Twenty three minutes and seventeen seconds. Impressive, though I expected it to be much earlier."

"But it still counts as passing, right?"

"It does," Razeil stated. "But barely acceptable, considering how powerful you are."

Zich opened his mouth to speak again. However, even before he could say a word, the angel’s cold voice rang out again.

"As for matters related to the gift, return first."

Upon hearing this, Zich stepped into the spatial passage. Frosthowl Valley was once again covered by the blizzard.
