SSS Awakening: Conquering Worlds with My Cupid System
Chapter 133: I Just Realized...The pink light faded, and silence returned to Gorgath. For several long moments, no one moved.
Finally, Grand Advisor Gorda turned toward the countless gathered races. He lifted his staff high into the air.
"The King has spoken! From this day onward... There shall be no more tribal wars!"
The valley erupted into celebration. For the first time in countless generations, Gorgath stood united under one crown.
***
And that crown, along with two women were staring at the short, feminine-looking, white-blond Alpha with narrowed eyes. Something had happened, and it was something Silas, Chloe, and Gromda had missed entirely.
Alpha was able to speak with the orcs with no issue or difficulty, which shouldn’t have been possible. Well, logically speaking. It shouldn’t be possible.
Silas had his suspicions about how he could understand their language and speak it too, but he wasn’t counting on it. He was also Cupid’s descendant, the one with the most potent bloodline according to the system, and he still needed the system’s help to understand Orcish.
Alpha felt like a cornered kitten as he felt the piercing gazes of Silas, Chloe, and Gromda on him, while Anna, meanwhile, stood in the kitchen humming to herself as she stirred a pot of stew, either blissfully unaware of the interrogation happening behind her or intentionally pretending not to notice.
"How?" Silas folded his arms and said in a dark tone, causing Alpha to shiver in fear. "Explain."
Alpha swallowed. "I just realized... I understood them."
"That’s your explanation?" Silas asked flatly.
"It is."
"It sucks."
"I know."
Chloe leaned against the dining table. "You spoke fluent Orcish."
"I did."
"You held an entire conversation."
"I... think I did."
"You even corrected one of the elders."
Alpha blinked. "I did?"
"You corrected his grammar."
"..." Alpha slowly looked horrified. "I corrected his grammar?"
Silas pointed dramatically.
"See?! That’s what we’re talking about!"
"I DON’T EVEN KNOW ORCISH!"
Gromda tilted her head.
"You do."
"I DON’T!"
"You sound funny."
"I’M GLAD I’M ENTERTAINING YOU!"
"Alpha." Silas narrowed his eyes.
"...Yes?"
"Say something in Orcish."
"I can’t."
"You literally can."
"I don’t know how."
"Just... talk."
Alpha sighed. "This is stupid."
He cleared his throat and spoke. And it was Orcish.
"Greetings, honored warrior. May your axe remain sharp, your enemies plentiful, and your livestock fertile."
Gromda blinked. "Perfect."
Silas slowly looked at Alpha.
"You... Blessed his goats."
"I WHAT?!"
"You blessed his goats."
"I DON’T EVEN KNOW WHAT A GOAT IS IN ORCISH!"
"You apparently do."
Alpha covered his face. "I hate this place."
Anna spoke from the kitchen.
"Language."
"Sorry."
Silas suddenly grabbed Alpha by both shoulders.
"Who are you?"
"Alpha."
"No."
"What?"
"Who are you really?"
"I’m still Alpha."
"Are you?"
"Yes!"
Silas squinted suspiciously. "Prove it."
"How?"
"Insult me."
Alpha didn’t even hesitate. "You lack class and a sense of humor."
Silas gasped dramatically. "That’s definitely Alpha."
"See?"
"Nobody else insults me that efficiently."
Chloe giggled. "It really is him."
"Can we stop acting like I’ve been possessed?" Alpha rubbed his temples.
Silas ignored him.
’System.’
The familiar pink window appeared.
[Yes?]
’Explain.’

[Conclusion Reached.]
Silas waited with smoke literally fuming from his nostrils. ’So?’
[The answer is simple.]
’It never is.’
[It is.]
"..."
[Alpha possesses Cupid’s bloodline.]
’Okay? I know that already.’
[Due to prolonged exposure to the current generation’s strongest Cupid descendant...]
’Me.’
[Correct. Several dormant hereditary traits have begun awakening naturally.]
Silas frowned. ’Wait.’
The system continued.
[One of those traits is Universal Affection.]
’That sounds suspicious.’
[Correction. It is Language Harmony.]
’Oh.’
[All descendants of Cupid possess an innate ability to communicate beyond linguistic barriers.]
’That’s actually useful.’
[Correct.]
Silas frowned. ’Then why couldn’t I understand Orcish?’
[You could.]
’What?’
[The System simply translated it for you.]
’Why?’
[Presentation.]
’Presentation?’
[It looked cooler.]
Silas slowly looked toward the ceiling. The rest stared at him with blank expressions as they knew he was probably speaking with his system, something they were still trying to see as normal.
’You... made dramatic pink windows for something I could already do?’
[Correct.]
Alpha burst into laughter as the system projected itself outward and showed what it had told Silas. Silas pointed accusingly at the floating screen.
"You FRAUD!"
[I preferred the term ’cinematic assistance’.]
"Cinematic my ass!"
[You seemed impressed.]
"I WAS!"
[Mission accomplished.]
Alpha had to grab the table to stop himself from falling over.
"I can’t... Hahahahaha... You’ve been flexing a translation software..."
"It wasn’t software!" Silas protested. "It was SYSTEM MAGIC!"
[Technically... It was neither.]
Silas froze.
"Excuse me?"
[I just waited until your subconscious translated it naturally.]
"You WHAT?!"
[Your bloodline has always possessed Language Harmony. You merely hadn’t realized it.]
Silas slowly turned toward Alpha.
"So... I’ve been pretending to need subtitles."
Alpha nodded while wiping tears from his eyes.
"For weeks."
Chloe covered her mouth, trying not to laugh.
"It... does explain why you never looked confused after a few conversations."
Silas remembered every time the system had dramatically displayed...
[Cross-Worlds Language Detection Activated!]
[Instant Vocabulary Activated!]
He slowly looked back toward the floating screen.
"You’re fired."
[I respectfully decline.]
"I wasn’t asking."
[Your request has been denied.]
Silas took a deep breath.
"You know what?"
[Yes?]
"I’m going to ignore you."
[A wise decision.]
"I hate you."
[Mutual respect acknowledged.]
"I DIDN’T SAY RESPECT!"
Anna finally walked over carrying a steaming pot.
"Dinner."
Everyone immediately forgot the argument. The aroma alone was enough to silence the room. Alpha sat down first.
"I forgive the system."
"You changed sides fast," Silas muttered.
"It didn’t make me look like an idiot."
"It literally made me look like one."
"Exactly."
Silas glared at him.
"You also lack a sense of humor."
Silas pointed at himself. "I am hilarious."
Alpha looked at Chloe.
"See?"
She nodded solemnly. "He really believes that."
Even Gromda joined in.
"Not funny."
Silas looked around the table in disbelief.
"So it’s four against one?"
Anna smiled sweetly as she handed him a bowl.
"Five."
Silas accepted the bowl with a defeated sigh. "You are all bullying me."
[...]
Silas looked upward with dead eyes.
"I’m uninstalling you."
[Administrator privileges denied.]
Laughter echoed through the mansion, and for the first time since returning from Gorgath, the atmosphere felt completely normal again.
Well, as normal as life could be for a pink-haired SSS-Rank Cupid descendant, his giant Runic Jotun queen, an Ice Empress, a nurse with a mysterious background, a snarky bloodline cousin, and an insufferably smug system.
