SSS Awakening: Conquering Worlds with My Cupid System
Chapter 158: Chloe’s ComprehensionTwo days had passed since Chloe’s family and Alpha’s family officially moved into the Ashard Estate. Life had settled into a comfortable rhythm.
The mornings began with training. Afternoons were either school or estate affairs. Evenings belonged to family dinners, meditation, and occasionally watching Alpha get bullied by the younger children because they had discovered he was surprisingly easy to tease.
Everything felt peaceful.

The newly renovated Awakened Training Facility hummed quietly. Titan Forge Engineering had outdone themselves. The ordinary commercial gym had disappeared completely.
In its place stood something closer to a military research facility. The walls were forged from layered awakened alloy capable of withstanding attacks from S-Rank hunters. The floor shimmered with countless mana-conductive runes hidden beneath polished black stone.
Gravity regulators lined the ceiling, adaptive training equipment occupied almost every corner, while several sparring arenas stood ready for battle.
A mana-compression chamber rested behind thick reinforced doors. Even the temperature automatically adjusted according to whoever entered. It was a paradise for awakened, and in the center sat Chloe.
Her legs were crossed, her palms rested gently upon her knees, and her breathing had become almost impossible to notice.
Silence surrounded her. This was not ordinary silence, but rather a strange kind of silence. Even the soft hum of the facility slowly disappeared around her. She had been meditating for nearly three hours.
Normally, the system would have reminded her to stop after two, but today it remained silent because something unusual was happening.
Within Chloe’s consciousness, she floated inside endless darkness. There was no floor, no sky, no stars. Nothing. Only endless black.
She slowly opened her eyes.
"Where am I?"
No answer came. She stood carefully, but her footsteps produced no sound. Even her breathing had vanished. There wasn’t even wind. Only stillness.
A strange feeling washed over her. It was cold. This was not the ordinary kind. It was not freezing or chilling. This cold was peaceful, comfortable, and very familiar.
She reached forward, and tiny white particles suddenly appeared around her fingertips. Snow. Soft snowflakes drifted through the darkness. Soon, thousands of snowflakes surrounded her.
Each one floated differently, and each one contained memories. Chloe reached toward the nearest one. The instant she touched it, the world changed. She saw herself.
A little girl walking through heavy snowfall while holding her mother’s hand. She remembered laughing. The snow had felt soft, beautiful, and pure.
The memory dissolved.
Another snowflake drifted into her palm. This time she saw herself years later, bullied, ignored, and alone. The world around her had felt colder than winter.
Another memory appeared. She bumped into Silas, then it fast-forwarded to her awakening, the first time ice obeyed her, then she was fighting monsters.
Another memory appeared. She ate some fruits and got poisoned, and only the snow... cold was her comforter.
Another memory appeared. She was battling giant chickens, turning them into ice statues. Then she found herself in Gorgath. The memories piled up and drifted around her, each more real than the last.
Each memory became another snowflake. Each snowflake joined the blizzard surrounding her.
"Ice..." She whispered. "No..."
Her own voice echoed strangely.
"It’s more than ice."
The darkness suddenly cracked. An enormous glacier emerged from nowhere, then another. Mountains of crystal ice rose endlessly. Frozen oceans stretched beyond the horizon. The entire world transformed into white. A frozen paradise.
Above her, an enormous moon glowed blue. Its light illuminated countless glaciers taller than mountains. The air itself glittered, not because of frost, but because mana had frozen into visible particles. The scene was breathtaking.
"Beautiful..."
A calm voice suddenly answered, "It is."
Chloe turned to the source of the voice, but nobody stood there. The voice came from everywhere.
"Ice is misunderstood."
"It is believed to be cold."
"It is believed to be death."
"It is believed to merely freeze."
The voice paused.
"How unfortunate."
Another glacier rose from the earth, followed by another. Entire continents formed before her eyes in mere seconds.
"The strongest flames burn."
"The strongest lightning destroys."
"The strongest winds cut."
"The strongest earth protects."
"And ice..." The entire frozen world became still. "Ends."
Chloe frowned.
"Ends?"
The voice answered gently.
"Fire continues burning."
"Lightning continues moving."
"Wind continues flowing."
"Earth continues changing."
"But when Absolute Zero arrives..."
The moon stopped moving, snowflakes froze, and the wind ceased. Even light itself appeared slower.
"Everything... Stops."
Chloe’s pupils shrank.
"Absolute... Zero..." The words left her lips naturally. This was not a skill or just an ability, but an understanding. The frozen world trembled as every glacier released blinding blue light.
An endless ocean froze instantly, the sky crystallized, and even time appeared motionless. The mysterious voice spoke one final time.
"You never controlled ice. You controlled the absence of movement, the end of energy, the stillness that precedes eternity...."
"Absolute Zero."
BOOOOOOOOOOM!!
Within the training hall, mana erupted. Raymond, who happened to be walking nearby, froze in place. He had just finished his workout and was heading back. He was an awakened himself, though B-Rank. His ability was Telepathy.
"What..."
The awakened sensors throughout the estate exploded into alarms. Blue-white mana flooded every corridor, causing the gym doors to seal automatically, while emergency barriers activated.
Inside, Chloe hadn’t moved an inch. She remained seated with her eyes closed, and her expression peaceful, yet a thin layer of frost spread outward beneath her.
The reinforced awakened floor froze. Mana itself crystallized. The gravity regulators shut down. Adaptive machines became coated in translucent ice. The air temperature plummeted.
Twenty degrees to zero degrees, then negative twenty, negative fifty, negative one hundred. The automated systems desperately increased heating, but it accomplished nothing. The frost continued spreading. It was not spreading violently, but quietly, beautifully, and gracefully like winter itself had decided to take a walk.
Outside the gym, the system finally spoke. Its usually calm mechanical voice carried something that almost resembled surprise.
[Notice!]
[Chloe Montreal has entered Deep Comprehension.]
[Ability Identified: Absolute Zero.]
[Conceptual Ability confirmed.]
A brief pause followed. Then, for the first time since Silas had met it, the system sounded impressed at someone else other than him.
[Remarkable.]
Inside the frozen meditation chamber, Chloe remained completely still. Her comprehension had succeeded, but she had yet to awaken.
Because her inheritance was now beginning.
