A faint smile appeared on Alex’s face. The increase in Blood Vitalization Spell’s level allowed him to strengthen his blood cells more efficiently, reducing the strain on his heart while handling larger amounts of mana. More importantly, he now had enough mana to create a Mana Sword.

The only thing left was learning the Advanced Battle Instinct Spell. Once he succeeded, his mana control would likely reach the level needed to handle a Mana Sword. Alex then looked toward Ben, who had patiently waited for him to finish.

"The Mana Circuit Spell?" Alex asked.

Ben nodded before beginning his explanation. The more Alex listened, the more surprised he became because his earlier theory had actually been correct. Creating Mana Cables had been the right first step toward the Mana Circuit Spell.

However, there was one thing he had overlooked. Just as Elemental Runes required Elemental Essence instead of just pure mana shaped into runes, Mana Circuit Spell also required another component along with the pure mana shaped into runes.

That component wasn’t any type of mana, or essence.

It was...

Will.

Pure joy erupted within Alex’s being the moment he found the existence of Will.

The feeling came so suddenly that Alex almost found it difficult to explain. He knew that this strange sense of happiness was related to his SSS Rank Origin Spell Physique, as if the physique itself was celebrating the discovery of something incredibly important. It was something basic to magic, yet powerful enough to have a tremendous impact on his future path.

Alex did not understand how to use Will in magic, but the joy of the Origin Spell Physique was unmistakable. He had never experienced anything similar before. That meant Will was important. Alex accepted it and focused on the information Ben was giving him.

Then something clicked within him. It was not an idea or a theory this time. It was a distinct feeling of certainty that seemed to come from somewhere deeper within him.

Will.

That was what he had been missing.

Alex suddenly understood that Will was the missing component for his Advanced Battle Instinct Spell. He did not know why he needed Will for it, nor did he understand how to use Will for it, but the feeling was certain. He needed Will.

Alex immediately used the Battle Instinct Spell to calm himself down. The excitement slowly settled, allowing his thoughts to become clear again, and he turned his attention back toward Ben.

According to Ben, Will was born from the soul. A person with a strong soul could generate Will, especially when they concentrated deeply and pushed their mind to its limits. Once generated, Will could be used to harden mana and force it to maintain a specific shape instead of dispersing.

That was the foundation of the Mana Circuit Spell.

The Mana Cable Spell allowed a mage to manipulate pure mana and form it into the required runes. Afterward, Will was used to harden those runes and stabilize their structure, turning the entire formation into a functional Mana Circuit, also known as runes.

It was a simple explanation, but there was something profound hidden within it. Alex had spent so much time trying to understand the structure of magic that he had overlooked something as fundamental as the will of the caster.

Mana could be controlled through knowledge and mana control, but Will provided another layer of control that allowed the mana to retain its intended form.

Ben admitted that he had not been able to use Will himself. No matter what he had tried, he could not feel his Will, much less move or manipulate it. He understood the theory behind the Mana Circuit Spell, but without being able to generate Will, he had been unable to complete the spell.

Alex nodded as he finished listening.

"Thank you for teaching me the spell. Also, welcome to the faction," Alex said.

Alex raised his hand toward Ben. Ben shook it without hesitation.

A notification immediately appeared in front of Alex.

[Ben Morris has joined Alex Mercer’s faction.]

Alex then walked toward the door and called Kevin, Zach, Sia, and Edward into the room. There were still a few things he needed to take care of before he could properly begin working on the Advanced Battle Instinct Spell, and Mana Circuit Spell.

The first person Alex brought into his faction was Edward.

[Edward Morris has joined Alex Mercer’s faction.]

Alex glanced at the two security guards for a moment. Ben and Edward shared the same family name, which was probably because they had both grown up in the same orphanage. Since they had no known family name of their own, the orphanage name had likely become their surname.

With Edward joining, Alex had finally reached the required level and number of faction members. Several notifications appeared before his eyes.

[Tutorial Quest 5 completed.]

[Silver Reward Box gained.]

[Map (Trash Rank) gained.]

’Another map?’ Alex thought. A new notification followed.

[Tutorial Quest 6: Defeat a Street-Level Boss with Your Faction.]

Alex raised a brow. He had no idea what a Street-Level Boss was. The name made it sound rather weak. Still, he decided to proceed carefully. Just because something sounded unimpressive didn’t mean it actually was.

Alex glanced at the earlier notifications but did not open the rewards immediately. There was something he needed to do first. He turned toward Sia and took out a Gene Potential.

"Take this. It will allow you to become an Ascendant. After you absorb it, go to Tina and have her explain everything about Classes to you," Alex said.

"Understood," Sia replied curtly.

The female security guard accepted the Gene Potential without hesitation and immediately absorbed it. Even though she had already been warned that a screen would appear before her eyes, the female guard still flinched when the translucent screen appeared in front of her.

Alex found the reaction slightly amusing because Sia normally looked so serious and intimidating that seeing her react like that made her seem almost like a completely different person. Ben and Edward both chuckled, earning a sharp glare from her.

Sia clicked her tongue before leaving the room and heading toward Tina. Alex watched her leave before turning his attention toward Zach. He took out three Gene Potentials and handed them to him.
