Tina dashed toward the Wild Orc again.

She kept moving around the monster while avoiding its fingers as they reached for her. Most of the time, she barely managed to dodge, especially compared to Ophelia, who was reacting to the attacks much more easily because of her Predictive Reflex Technique.

They continued drawing the monster’s attention until the next part of their plan finally happened. A gunshot rang out, and the Wild Orc immediately roared while grabbing its eye.

Rae had fired the sniper rifle.

They had already discussed this plan while staying at Stefan’s temporary base, and they had hoped that Rae’s shot would be enough to kill the Wild Orc. Unfortunately, the monster’s eye and inner organs seemed to be quite thick, so although its vision had been destroyed partially, it was still alive.

The Wild Orc roared furiously and slammed its fist toward the ground. The attack was much faster than anything it had done before, and although the fist did not hit Tina or Ophelia directly, the resulting shockwave launched them away.

This time, Tina recovered much faster.

She immediately pushed herself back onto her feet and dashed toward the Wild Orc, knowing that the monster had given her an opportunity while it was still disoriented, and attacking without having a precise target. Ophelia seemed to realize what Tina was planning and shouted after her.

"Tina, don’t!"

Tina was already too deep into the battle to stop.

She zipped around the Wild Orc and moved toward the back of its shin, which was an easy target because of the monster’s enormous size. Tina struck it twice with the Echo Fist Technique, then twice again, sending the force of her attacks into the monster’s muscles.

The attacks did not cause much physical damage, but they disrupted the monster’s control over its muscles. Its leg suddenly buckled, and the Wild Orc dropped onto one knee.

Unable to properly control its movement while the pain from its destroyed eye continued distracting it, the monster fell down completely.

Tina flooded her legs with Aura and jumped.

Her body sailed through the air, and the movement felt almost like something from a comic book. The rush of it made her blood race as she landed on the Wild Orc’s body and immediately dashed toward its head.

As soon as she reached it, Tina used the Echo Fist Technique again. The force was still too weak to travel far enough through the monster’s skull to damage its brain, so she began raining punches down on its head, hoping that enough attacks would eventually make up for the lack of power.

The Wild Orc twisted violently.

Tina realized that she had finally caused enough pain for the monster to consider her a serious threat. It swiftly turned its body toward a nearby building, apparently intending to smash the back of its head against it while Tina was still there.

If she was caught, she would be crushed.

"Tina! Jump away!" Ophelia shouted.

Tina did not hear her.

All she could hear was the rushing of blood in her ears as fear, excitement, and urgency mixed together. She continued throwing punches, telling herself that she only needed to land one more attack before jumping away.

"That’s enough."

A soft voice suddenly reached her ears.

Before Tina could react, a hand wrapped around her waist, and her body lurched backward so quickly that she felt as though her organs had been shaken inside her. If she had not been reinforcing herself with Aura, that sudden acceleration could have fatally injured her.

A moment later, Alex landed on the ground while holding her.

Behind them, the Wild Orc smashed the back of its head into the building, and a powerful shockwave erupted from the impact. Tina took several deep breaths as she felt her mind finally calm down, and only then did she realize how recklessly she had been fighting.

"I... I’m sorry," Tina said while breathing heavily. "I got too caught up in the fight, and I couldn’t even kill the Wild Orc."

Alex looked at her for a moment before smiling. "No, you killed it."

Tina stared at him in surprise, unsure if she had heard him correctly.

Alex looked at the monster, and said, "Congratulations, Tina. You did it."

Several notifications appeared in front of her.

...

Alex looked at the notifications that had appeared in front of him while he continued holding Tina. A sense of satisfaction appeared in his heart as he read them.

[Level 11 Wild Orc killed.]

[Blood Vitalization Spell has leveled up. Level 2 → Level 3.]

It seemed the system had counted Alex’s contribution because he had saved Tina from the Wild Orc’s final attack. More importantly, his Blood Vitalization Spell had leveled up, which he had been training while keeping an eye on the battle.

Alex could also feel that Mana Sense Spell was close to leveling up. With the addition of Will, the spell’s proficiency was improving fast, and it probably would not take much longer before it reached Level 10.

He looked down at Tina.

She had fought crazily, but there was more to it than simply being reckless. While she was not as fast or as tough or talented as Ophelia, she had been extremely determined to win and had repeatedly stood back up whenever the Wild Orc’s shockwaves threw her away.

She had also managed to remain calm in the middle of the fight. Even when the monster was clearly capable of killing her, Tina had continued looking for opportunities instead of simply panicking and running away.

Alex could not help but feel proud.

Tina, Ophelia, and Rae had actually done it. They had managed to defeat a Wild Orc that was far stronger than them. They had surpassed his Hell Difficulty team in roughly half the time it had taken them to reach a similar level.

Of course, there was an important difference between the two groups.

Tina and Ophelia had Alex’s guidance, and he had taught them techniques and explained how to use Aura effectively. They had started with a much better foundation than his Hell Difficulty team had, so it was only natural that they could progress faster.

Still, that did not diminish their achievement.
