Roan had a small smile upon hearing his words.

"You know, it’s funny that when I’m with you, I find myself worrying about clothes and other simple things. Before this, I was mostly thinking about killing monsters. I felt like I was going insane. This is much better. Thank you," Roan said, sincerely.

With that, Roan left toward the nearby shop. Alex watched him disappear before returning his attention to his Status. It was time to use the two stat points he had gained from the species level-up.

[Mana: 35 → 37]

The mana inside Alex’s heart increased once again. Even while he continuously used Blood Vitalization Spell, he could feel a faint pressure against the walls of his heart, but Alex did not consider it a serious problem.

As long as he continued increasing the level of Blood Vitalization Spell faster than his Mana stat increased, the spell should remain capable of handling the pressure created by his growing mana.

The increase in Mana was reassuring. Alex had no idea how strong the Wild Orc leader would be, so he needed enough mana to use his spells repeatedly if the battle lasted longer than expected.

There was another reason Alex had chosen Mana. He had an idea for a new spell that would require a considerable amount of mana if he wanted to use it multiple times, although calling it a spell might not be entirely accurate.

Alex took out his phone and opened the internet to check whether his idea could actually work. Before starting his search, he checked his messages, but there were no new messages from his friends or family.

He sent a message to his friends asking how everything had gone on their side, then began searching for information related to his idea. At the same time, he continued training his Mana Circuit Spell.

The battle against the Wild Orc Shaman had taught him a great deal about Will, while obtaining Soul Reinforcement Spell had further improved his ability to generate and control it. Because of that, Alex believed he was getting close to finally learning Mana Circuit Spell, which meant he could not afford to waste even a moment.

He was excited because once he learned the spell, he would finally be able to evolve his Class, and he had no idea what that evolution would bring.

Would he gain a powerful spell, or perhaps some kind of special knowledge? Could his Spell Slots increase? What would completing the additional Class Requirements give him? There were too many possibilities, and Alex could only find out after learning the Mana Circuit Spell.

...

Tina was running through the alleys with Robert on her back. He was half conscious, and every time she took a step at her current speed, she could feel his broken bones shifting against each other, causing him to grunt in pain.

Tina bit her lips. She knew she could not slow down. If Robert did not receive healing soon, he might not make it, and she could not allow herself to think about what would happen if she arrived too late.

"We told you to run away if you faced a monster, so why did you fight it? You knew you couldn’t defeat it by yourself, so why didn’t you listen to us?" Tina shouted as she continued running.

Robert did not respond. He simply continued breathing slowly against her back, and Tina could feel how weak he was with every step.

Her eyes began to sting, but she forced herself to remain calm. Crying would not help Robert, and she needed to reach Charlotta as quickly as possible because every group that had separated earlier had a healer with them.

Ophelia’s group had Sophia, while Tina’s group had Charlotta. The little girl Charlotta was hiding with Zach’s family, so if she could reach them, Robert could receive treatment.

A dangerous sound suddenly reached Tina’s ears, causing her expression to harden. There was a monster somewhere near the next turn, and countless thoughts passed through her mind as she tried to decide what to do.

She could not fight it because doing so would waste valuable time, and Robert needed to be healed quickly. At the same time, running past an unknown monster while carrying an injured person was dangerous, especially when she could not afford to stop and fight.

Before Tina could decide what to do, a black blur suddenly shot past her. She froze, thinking that a monster had attacked, but when she stopped and turned around, there was nothing behind her.

Then she heard a strange gurgling sound from around the next turn. Confused, Tina moved forward carefully and peeked around the corner, where she saw a monster that looked somewhat like a boar lying in its own blood.

Its throat had been slit.

Tina stared at the dying monster before looking around. There was no sign of whoever had attacked it, and she also noticed that there was no Gene Potential near its body.

’Was that black blur a monster? Did it kill this one?’ Tina wondered.

She could not understand why the creature had killed the monster but left her alone. There were countless questions in her mind, but she had no time to search for answers, so she adjusted Robert on her back and continued running.

Before she reached Charlotta’s hiding place, Tina encountered two more monsters. Both were already dying when she found them, and each had a slash mark across its throat, although she did not see the black blur again.

Eventually, Tina reached Charlotta’s hiding location. Zach’s family was hiding with her, and the moment Charlotta saw Robert’s condition, her expression changed.

"Please heal him, Char," Tina said as she carefully placed Robert down.

The little girl looked shocked by Robert’s injuries, but she did not cry or hesitate. She immediately began healing him while holding back her tears, and after some time, Robert’s condition finally stabilized.

Tina let out a quiet breath of relief as she watched Robert’s breathing become steadier. Even then, she could not stop thinking about the strange black blur she had seen earlier.

’That was a monster, and it was definitely helping us, but why?’ Tina wondered.
