A strange sensation spread throughout his body almost immediately. His heart swelled as though it were being filled from within, and Alex immediately recognized the feeling.

He was gaining mana.

His mind became noticeably sharper, and warmth spread through every part of his body. It reminded him of the moment he had obtained the SSS-rank Origin Spell Physique.

His body was changing once again.

When the process ended, Alex felt almost identical to how he had inside the Land of Origin.

A faint pain pulsed from his heart, making it feel like a water balloon stretched close to bursting. Without hesitation, he activated Advanced Body Reinforcement Spell and strengthened his heart so it could safely contain the increasing amount of mana.

The discomfort gradually faded. Alex then activated Battle Instinct Spell, and his thoughts immediately became clearer as unnecessary distractions disappeared.

His emotions remained, but they no longer interfered with his judgment.

He carefully observed the ruined city once more.

’The monsters must have appeared while the pioneer’s consciousness was summoned to the Land of Origin. Earth has become part of the System’s apocalypse,’ he concluded.

The realization settled heavily in his mind. Earth had become far more dangerous than it had been only hours ago.

Alex returned to his bed and picked up his phone. He resisted the urge to call his parents or his younger sister because they were probably hiding from monsters. A ringing phone could easily reveal their location.

Instead, he opened his messages. There were over ninety-nine unread messages from Ava, a few from his friends, but none from either of his parents.

His expression remained calm, though his thoughts raced beneath the surface.

’Mom and Dad may have been summoned to the Land of Origin, so they couldn’t call or message me. If they weren’t summoned, then this means...’

Alex cut the thought off before it could continue.

He pushed Battle Instinct Spell even further, compressing his mana before directing the dense energy toward his brain.

His focus sharpened once again, and his hands remained perfectly steady as he opened Ava’s chat.

Ava: Are you okay?

Ava: Why are you not responding?

Ava: Idiot, are you still sleeping!

Ava: Brother, please respond. Are you okay?

Ava: Brother, Mom and Dad are not responding either. What is happening?

Ava: ...

Alex pushed the Battle Instincts Spell even higher. He condensed mana to its absolute limit before directing that dense, purified mana toward his brain.

His thoughts became even sharper, emotions calmed, and his hands remained completely steady as he typed a reply to his sister.

Me: I’m okay. I will be coming to your location. Where are you?

He didn’t call her immediately. If Ava saw the message, she would respond on her own, and if she didn’t reply within ten minutes, he would call.

Since she was the closest person to him, she would be the first one he went to.

Alex moved around the apartment while keeping an eye on the time. He stepped over the scattered rubble and packed his backpack with snacks from the refrigerator, which was well-stocked thanks to his habit of studying late into the night.

He also added two bottles of water before zipping it shut.

Food shouldn’t be an immediate concern. There were monsters outside, and some of them must be edible, but Alex wasn’t willing to eat monster meat until he knew it was safe. Titan Reef Crabs had been safe, since other monsters ate them, but he didn’t know if that was true about the ones outside.

He opened his inventory and took out his sword and wand. Both were in perfect condition, and removing them eased the strain he had been placing on his mind by keeping them stored. It wasn’t a huge difference, but it made him feel noticeably more comfortable.

After checking his phone again, he saw there were still five minutes left before he planned to call Ava. Only then did he notice the time displayed on the screen.

’Four in the morning?’ he questioned.

According to Emma and the others, everyone had been summoned exactly at midnight.

That meant he had only spent four hours inside the Land of Origin, yet it felt much longer than that. Maybe constantly staying alert had distorted his sense of time.

A notification suddenly appeared before him.

[Tutorial Quest 5: Create/Join a Faction.]

[Faction Requirements: One Level 10 Ascendent, Two Level 5 Ascendents, Ten Level 1 Ascendents.]

’Ascendents? What’s that?’

Alex frowned as he read the unfamiliar word. After thinking about it for a moment, he concluded it was probably the system’s name for people who could level up.

Since he still had a few minutes before leaving, Alex sat down and opened his laptop. If the internet was still functioning, other summoned humans would definitely be posting information.

Learning about their situations could help him understand the apocalypse better.

Fortunately, the internet was still working. The moment he logged into Dwitter, his feed exploded with endless posts from around the world.

Photos of monsters, collapsing buildings, cyclones, and massive tsunamis filled the screen alongside prayers, panic, conspiracy theories, and complete mental breakdowns.

Alex forced Battle Instincts even further despite the growing strain on his mind. He rapidly sorted through the flood of information, ignoring obvious rumors and emotional outbursts while focusing only on useful firsthand accounts. Within minutes, several clear patterns began to emerge.

People assigned to [Easy Difficulty] had been summoned near civilizations in the Land of Origin.

They started with local currency, a weapon, and the Reward Boxes earned from the Tutorial Quests.

Although they couldn’t understand the locals, it seemed their arrival had been expected.

Groups of officials escorted the newcomers to places simply called farms. The monsters there were weak and docile, allowing humans to pay with local currency and hunt them safely to gain levels.

One Rogue who had learned [Language Proficiency] skill somewhat translated the locals’ advice, which was to eventually leave the farms because fighting real monsters was the only way to become truly strong.

Alex agreed with that assessment. Levels increased stats, but they couldn’t replace combat experience.

Sarah and Yulia were both Warriors, yet the difference between their fighting abilities was obvious because Yulia had taken risks to temper her body through brutal training.

He continued searching until he found information from [Normal Difficulty] ascendents.

They had also received a weapon and Reward Boxes, but they were summoned in groups of four far away from civilization.
