SSS Awakening: In a New World with Dual God-Level Bloodlines
Chapter 64: Middle Magic Apprentice Realm"Tsk, you spineless coward..."
Princess Milliani mocked him, but Arlo only shrugged as his eyelids grew heavier and heavier until they finally shut him down.
"That said, Arlo, I want to ask you something else...Something really important to me,"
Princess Milliani suddenly said, a slight shade of pink dusting her face.
Yet all she heard in response was absolute silence. She slowly rose and stared at him.
"Arlo?" she called out, but Arlo was long gone, as a soft snore escaped his lips, much to Milliani’s shock.
"He finally fell asleep. I almost forgot he was a Vorath too..." Princess Milliani said with a smile as she thought back to the young man.
Every time she woke up in the morning, she would see him walking past her room door toward the library, and in the middle of the night, when she was preparing to go to bed, she would see him sitting cross-legged in the garden with various Mana Balls surrounding his body.
It had become so constant that she was now thinking of it as normal, but alas, he also had his limits, as she watched him clearly in a deep sleep.
_____________
CLINCK
The sound of the door unlocking resounded through the room as two figures entered.
A young, light-brown-skinned lady carried a boy in her arms.
The room was covered in shades of purple, with strange toys and different notes and papers scattered across the floor.
Yet calling it grand would be an understatement for what the room truly was.
Walking toward the singular bed present, which was covered with a pink sheet and mattress, Princess Milliani took part of the mattress and gently laid Arlo onto it before placing the mattress over his body.
"It must have really taken a toll on your body..." Princess Milliani said with furrowed eyebrows, noticing that Arlo was still in an incredibly deep sleep.
Suddenly, she looked at his face and notice the hair over his eyes.
With eyes gleaming with a gentle light, she quietly raised her hands and ran them over his midnight-violet hair, parting it to the side of his head.
"You seem to strangely care for him more than you normally do for anyone."
The voice suddenly rang out, and Milliani’s hands jerked away from Arlo like a scared rabbit.
Her gaze snapping toward the entrance of the room, where a figure could be seen gently reclining against the door with a slight, playful smile on her face.
"Mom! You scared me!"
Milliani roared out as Isadolla grinned sinisterly at her, causing her to pout playfully.
"What do you mean by what you just said?" Milliani asked with a creased eyebrow as Isadolla fully walked into the room.
"If I remember correctly, this was your previous room when you were nine. You prevented anyone from ever entering this place except for me."
"Even your beloved brother Demois and Eboncrest was also prevented from entering."
Isadolla said as she arrived before Milliani, her eyes turning toward the slumbering Arlo.
"Yet here is a man on your precious ’only-girls’ bed..." Isadolla said mockingly as Milliani snorted.
"He’s not a man. He is a boy." She corrected. as Isadolla smiled even more brightly.
"You love him, don’t you?"
"Mom!" Milliani yelled out, yet at the same time, her voice was hushed as Isadolla giggled playfully at her.
"If I was wrong, you shouldn’t have reacted so fiercely."
"He is a boy! Still 16! That’s child abuse." she replied to her mom, hiding the pink on her face.
"You’ve been quite ’child abusing’ him too, quite a lot of the time these past few days." Isadolla replied with a playful shrug.
"Don’t tell me you’ve been sneaking on us these past few days." Milliani said, suspiciously.
"Don’t look at me like that. It’s not like I’m the only one." Isadolla replied as Milliani’s eyes flashed with disbelief before she scoffed.
"Hmph, you old hags have no other work to do, huh?"
"Your father won’t agree with that." Isadolla replied.
"Hmph, you sneaking old hags."
Milliani repeated.
"That’s as harsh as it is funny."
"Also, you’ll both be leaving for the academy tomorrow, and I have to tell you, a storm has been brewing in the academy lately."
"Be very careful, Milliani, especially with Arlo. It’s quite the wrong time for a person to be joining Ctulhu Academy..."
She said and Milliani’s eyes regained their seriousness as she turned to her mother.
"Was the decree finally passed?" Milliani asked as Isadolla shook her head.
"Not yet, but there are some overenthusiastic people who are itching to act before the decree can be declared."
"You’ll notice quite the number of anomalies amongst some students."
"While I don’t think you won’t be able to handle that, It’s Arlo I’m worried about." Isadolla said with worried eyes as she looked at the peacefully slumbering boy.
A mighty storm was brewing within the Vorath settlement, and the same was also brewing within the human settlement.
The origin of that storm would be the Cthulhu Academy.
She could trust that not even the craziest among those old idiots would dare lay their hands on her daughter unless they were requesting hell on Earth.
But there was more than a possibility that they would lay hands on Arlo, the boy she had developed a strange affection for.
Through him, they could gravely damage her.
"I’ll protect him at all costs..."
Milliani said with unflinching conviction as Isadolla’s eyes flashed with light before she smiled.
"I trust you will. Now give the boy his rest. Tomorrow will be a big day, after all..."
Isadolla said to her before turning back toward the door as Milliani reluctantly stood from the bed, giving one last look at Arlo before she also followed behind her.
Left alone was none other than Arlo, whose chest slowly heaved up and down, his body entering a mini-slumber and healing the minor wounds and fatigue he had suffered.
But after five hours of sleep, the wounds were properly healed, and suddenly, a large amount of Mana began gathering over Arlo’s unconscious figure, soon enveloping him in a dark cocoon that covered his entire body.

Hours later...
BOOOOOM!
Suddenly, the sound of a muffled boom resounded throughout the entire place as a large wave of Mana violently blew open the glass of the room he was in, all of it crazily diving into his body.
But Arlo, deep in sleep, was oblivious to the changes occurring within his body as he continued his gentle sleep until the moon slowly disappeared and the sun rose over the horizon.
"YAAAAWWWWNNNNN!!!"
The sound of a loud yawn could be heard throughout the room as a figure slowly rose from his slumber, his groggy eyes looking around the strange room before turning toward the window, where he could see the green grass.
"I guess I owe someone a thank you..." Arlo mused before suddenly feeling something strange about himself.
He noticed strange, dried skin covering his body, with some of it having peeled off onto the bed.
He slowly peeled one of the pieces of skin from his arm and couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow.
"What the!? I molted!?"

The notification explained what had happened to Arlo, causing him to nod before stepping down from the bed.
"Still, I would have to clean this up quickly," Arlo thought as he looked around the room.
Picking up what he could, he immediately got to work. Once he was done, he went to the bathroom and quickly changed into a new pair of clothes.
"I’ll advise you to pay some attention to your system. There is quite a bit of information you’re missing..."
The System suddenly said as Arlo moved to exit the room, causing him to pause before turning back toward the bed.
"Activate System Interface," he ordered.

_______________
"Nice. Today is the day, so I better get going," Arlo mused before walking toward the door, twisting open the knob and exiting the room.
"You’re awake, and seemingly prepared too," a voice came from below.
It was none other than Queen Isadolla, who stood at the end of the staircase as Arlo gave her a respectful bow.
"Good morning, Your Majesty."
"Morning, Arlo. Come join the family for breakfast," she said, and Arlo followed behind her as they walked down the long staircase before finally arriving at the dining hall, where a total of three people could already be seen seated.
"Good morning, Your Highness," Arlo greeted with a bow as the King waved him up.
He also gave a respectful bow to Prince Demois, who responded with a nod.
Arlo then found his seat just beside Prince Demois, and after they recited their prayer, they all began eating.
