The supreme entity arrived before them in an instant.

Space itself seemed to twist as the enormous figure crossed the distance between them, its arrival carrying a weight Kael felt before he even understood what had happened. The invisible barrier that had separated him from the entity had done more than block its attacks. It had shielded him from the aura radiating off its body.

That barrier was gone now and Kael finally felt it.

His body stiffened as an overwhelming pressure crushed down on his existence. His breathing turned ragged, his muscles locked up, and for a moment he felt entirely insignificant beneath the presence looming over him.

He felt like a bug, no, even that was too generous, a bug at least got noticed when it was crushed underfoot, but before this entity, Kael felt like something that didn’t deserve acknowledgment at all.

The pressure was too much, and his consciousness trembled under it.

His instincts screamed at him to run, but his body wouldn’t move, there was nowhere to run anyway, he hung suspended in the endless void, fully exposed before something that could erase him without even trying.

Then the golden blob floating in front of him reacted, a wave of light bursting from its small body and wrapping around Kael. The pressure vanished almost instantly, and he gasped as the aura was shoved away from him.

Kael stared at the golden light. Only then did he notice what he’d overlooked.

That blob was no bigger than his fist, yet its aura was just as overwhelming, rivaling that of the supreme entity standing across from it.

Kael’s eyes narrowed as he looked between the two beings, realizing he’d somehow ended up caught between existences so far beyond him that measuring their strength was pointless.

"You need to get us out of here. Now."

The blob’s voice was tired. Annoyed. Like a babysitter who’d been stuck with an unruly kid far longer than their patience allowed.

Kael blinked.

"Say what?"

"You need to get us out of here."

"I don’t even know how!"

"Then figure it out!"

Kael opened his mouth to answer, but he never got the chance, the supreme entity was already moving.

Its massive body appeared above the blob in an instant, both hands clasped together like a gigantic hammer. Kael’s eyes widened at the sheer size of those arms as they came down with enough force to crush everything beneath them.

The blob didn’t flee. Instead, it expanded, radiant light erupting from its tiny body as it swelled into a massive sphere of brilliance

The two forces met in the middle of the void. There was no sound, no shockwave, nothing but the space between them simply vanishing.

A disk of pure nothing formed where they collided, an empty circle where even the idea of space had been erased. The void around it warped violently as the disk kept expanding.

Kael suddenly felt himself pulled toward it. His body lurched forward.

"What?"

He fought to resist, but there was nothing beneath his feet to push against. An invisible force dragged him closer and closer to the place where existence itself seemed to have been wiped out.

Then the golden sphere pulsed, and everything stopped, Kael froze, the entity froze, even the expanding disk seemed to pause, as if time itself had been forced still.

Then the disk reversed. The nothing folded inward, collapsing on itself, the enormous circle shrinking smaller and smaller until it became a single tiny point of blinding light.

It shot toward the supreme entity.

The entity raised one hand and caught it.

BOOM!

The condensed point of nothing detonated in its palm, golden energy tearing through the entity’s arm and shredding it into streams of golden mist.

But the next moment, the mist gathered itself back together, flesh and energy knitting piece by piece until the arm was whole again, as if it had never been touched.

Kael’s jaw tightened.

The entity lowered its arm and studied the blob.

"You are an anomaly." Its voice rumbled through the void. "You should not exist in this place."

The blob sounded unimpressed. "Neither should you, but here we are."

The light around it intensified. Countless thin strands of energy shot out and wove through the void, crossing over each other, forming a massive lattice around the entity.

It wasn’t a simple cage. Each strand carried a force that felt like it belonged to a different level of existence entirely, wrapping the entity from every direction at once.

The entity roared as the void inverted.

Kael’s stomach lurched. For a moment he felt like he was falling upward, then sideways, then downward, then every direction at once.

His sense of orientation collapsed as space lost all meaning, his body wrenched through vectors that shouldn’t have coexisted, and even wrapped in golden light, his mind shook from the distortion.

The lattice strained, cracks splitting along the golden strands and then it snapped.

The entity emerged. Its body swelled once, then again, doubling in size as an even heavier pressure rolled off it.

Its fist drew back slowly.

Kael’s pupils shrank. He didn’t need to know what was coming, every instinct told him it would be catastrophic.

The entity punched, its fist tearing forward with enough force to annihilate everything in its path. Space disappeared, the void warping, even the darkness itself erased along the fist’s trail, leaving nothing but ruin in its wake.

The golden blob reacted instantly. A massive shield of golden light burst into place in front of it.

The fist struck.

BOOM!

Annihilation met protection, and the force didn’t just ripple through the void, it shook the universe itself, space rippling outward in enormous waves as distant stars exploded and vanished.

The void groaned, and Kael could only stare, as he’d never seen anything close to this.

These two were trading blows on a scale where whole galaxies were just collateral damage.

Despite the force behind that punch, the shield held although cracks could be seen spreading across its surface.

From the look of it the blob was winning, but it seemed more irritated than anything.

"Now, brat!" Its voice snapped toward Kael. "Wake up!"

Kael blinked. The battle in front of him blurred out of focus as the words registered.

Wake up... Right, he needed out.

His mind kicked back into motion.

He’d arrived here after losing consciousness after his fight with the monk. He hadn’t chosen to come here, which meant this had to be a dream, a mental space, something close to it.

Wherever this was, his body was somewhere else. That meant a connection had to exist. If he could find it, maybe he could get back.

Kael closed his eyes and shut everything else out, the explosions, the pressure, the two impossible beings tearing space apart around him. He focused only on himself.

At first, there was nothing. Then, he sensed something. It was faint and distant, but there was no mistaking it an undeniable thread of warmth.

He reached toward that distant thread, and it drew closer the more he followed it, growing clearer with every second. He could feel his heartbeat, the warmth of his blood, his body waiting for him somewhere past this strange place.

Without hesitating, Kael reached farther, and his consciousness closed around that connection.

Then he grabbed it.
