"What is it?" Leon asked, clueless.
Looking at Leon’s clean figure with the scent of flowers and energetic face, Pooland understood he was worried for nothing. He shook his head and denied. "It’s nothing. I was just worried that if we went late, the commander would scold us."
"Oh." Leon nodded his head, understanding Pooland’s concern. For this reason, he had to stop occupying aunty’s pussy tonight. "Then, let’s go back, or we might get punished on our first day."
They wanted to rush back but they had to say goodbye to Uncle Richard first.
"Uncle Richard, we are leaving now." They both bowed toward Uncle Richard, who was entertaining a customer.
Richard nodded his head and then asked Leon. "So, how was it? Did your aunty say anything?"
Leon shook his head with a smile. "No. Aunty is happy and wants me to visit more."
"Good, good. Remember to come back more often." Richard stroked his beard before continuing to entertain the late-night customer.
"I will."
Afterwards, they both left the shop and headed toward the barracks.
Along the way, Pooland said with emotion. "I didn’t expect you to have such a great bond with Uncle Richard. I was worried it would take time for you to assimilate with the people of the Asterhold district. But it looks like I am worrying for nothing."
"Hehehe..." Leon chuckled, thinking of the bonds he made. They were coincidental yet fruitful. "I am lucky to have people around who are very welcoming to strangers."
"Yeah, yeah, brag about your social skills. You don’t know how the people of the Asterhold district are." Pooland scoffed. He was a local here, so he understood what kind of people live here. They were all nothing but selfish little pricks in his grandfather’s words.
Leon shook his head and delivered his advice. "Don’t spread negativity. If you badmouth people, then what difference does it make between you and them? Also, you might have not met good people yet, so your views are skewed."
"Hmph! You are back with your weird twisted words. What I saw and know is the truth!" Pooland crossed his arms and spoke with great confidence.
Leon shrugged his shoulders, not taking Pooland seriously. "Whatever you have in your imagination."
"You... you just wait when you encounter those filth; then don’t come running back to this daddy and shedding womanly tears. I will..." Pool, and then went on his tangent with Leon, inserting his rage-inducing opinions.
During this moment, a thought wandered in his head as this sort of banter reminded him of Ryan.
’I wonder what he is doing now?’
...
Deep underneath the crest of earth.
A shattered knight stood in front of a giant ball made of magma. The magma swirled and danced, sometimes spitting out its fiery venom. Around her were uneven ridges and cracks, while magma flares drifted in the air. She pulled forth the bow on her back and began aiming at the magma ball.
"Stop!" Her companion interrupted her with his hand behind his back. He too was a Shattered Knight like her.
"Why are you stopping me? Our human territory will suffer gravely if we don’t get rid of this tumor." The female Shattered Knight frowned.
They were assigned with the duty to survey the human settlements and nip out any potential danger. Today, they found a palpating aura coming from deep underground, and it was right under a city. So they penetrated through the ground and arrived here.
"I feel sighs of life inside it." The male Shattered Knight spoke with emotion.
"Of course it has. It is an embryo. And what if it has life? Those of not our race should be killed." The female Shattered Knight pulled the bow string and decided not to heed her companion’s advice.
"No wait! Don’t kill it. I have a foreboding feeling its origin is even grander than anything we have seen." The male Shattered Knight stood in front of the female Shattered Knight’s line of sight. This time, he spoke sternly.
The female shattered knight became stunned. Because this companion of hers was a very carefree person, and the only time he became serious was when the situation was out of their control.
She lowered her bow and asked. "What do you mean? How did you conclude where it originated from?"
The male Shattered Knight sighed in relief. Then he began explaining his conclusion as he turned around. "I have studied every race this world has to offer, but I have never read or seen a birth of this magnitude. Look around us, you can feel the nutrition of the earth, and the magma deep in the core is absent, which is most likely absorbed by this being inside the embryo."
"No race needs this amount of energy to be born except for the Dragon and the Winged Spirits. However, none of them are born like this. So this being is at the same level as them or even higher."
The female Shattered Knight’s eyebrows furrowed. "Your conclusion makes me want to kill it absolutely now. We do not want to see another race that can stand toe-to-toe with those two races."
"If it was just this, I would have stopped you." The male Shattered Knight shook his head. He stared at the embryo, especially at the invisible strings that were only visible to him. "You should know about my talent—the spirit eyes. It helps me see supernatural entities and influence them. Right now, I am seeing more than sixteen strings attached to this embryo, and each of these strings makes my heart palpitate. I fear no one in this world can save me if I incur a shred of damage to this embryo. Death feels so much nearer in front of these strings than to be in front of those two races."
The female Shattered Knight’s eyes widened in shock. The Shattered Knights could be called the cream of the crop of what humanity could offer. Every single one was a legend in their lifetime. They might not have been able to dominate in front of those high-level races, but they were still considered a formidable foe. No one scoffed at them, not even their mortal enemies.
