They crystal was cool to touch, and the moment he made contact nothing happened. A few moments passed and still nothing happened. He stood perplexed not understanding what was going on, then he felt something enter his body through his palm. A cool sensation spread throughout his body, and slowly everything began to fade out.
"What the-" his words got stuck in his throat.
The world was soon consume by darkness.
He was now alone, his palm still on the crystal, everybody had disappeared and he could not see a single thing. The world felt alien. And he felt as though he was being watched from all angles, then-
The crystal lit up with a dark crimson glow, illuminating the whole place. Tom gasped and stumble back, his eyes widened in shock.
His eyes were no longer on the glowing crystal but rather beyond it, behind the crystal was a throne and on the throne sat a young man with messy black hair in crimson armour looking back at him with a curious gaze.
"Chill out dude, I don’t bite." the young man’s lazy voice reached his ears despite the distance between them.
Tom forced himself to relax, and steeled his resolve. He took small shaky step towards the throne.
"What is this place?" he asked unable to hide the slight tremor in his voice.
The young man on the throne watched him approach, his eyes never leaving him not even once. Which in turn made Tom very nervous.
"Your consciousness was sucked into the crystal," he said.
Tom could not believe what he was hearing, In all his fifteen years of living he had never heard of anyone being sucked into the crystal.
He stopped his shaky advance a few feet away from the elevated platform where the throne was and from up close he could finally make out the face of the young man and too call him handsome was an understatement. The young man’s looks were otherworldly, and right below his right eye he had what looked like a rune etched there in crimson.
His pale warm eyes regarded him with a child-like curiosity, but there was also something else in his gaze. Something he could not quite put a finger on, but it bordered on the thin line of familiarity and recognition.
"Why, that has never happened before?" Tom asked the young man.
"It never happened before cause I never allowed it, I’m sure you are curious as to who I am?"
Thomas nodded, he was confused by the young man’s words but he was even more intrigued by his identity.
"Neher Khepri, that is my name. That is what is my people called me, thousands of years ago." he said with a distant expression.
"Neher khepri, what language is it and what does it mean?" Thomas asked.
"Never mind that we do not have much time, I have something I must give to you." he said standing up from his throne, he took slow measured steps.
Thomas instinctively took half a step back but before he could blink Neher was in front of him.
"Do not be afraid, I would never hurt my successor." with that being said he place a hand on tom’s head and began chanting.
He had not even began processing what was happening before he suddenly felt as if his right eye was burning, the hat quickly spread throughout his body. It felt as if he was being cooked alive, he screamed in pain.
And after what felt like an eternity, his torment finally stopped and Neher let go of his head. Tom fell to his knees shaking uncontrollably. The anger he felt towards Neher at that moment was frightening but before he could think of anything to say Neher spoke.
"I have gifted you a tool that will help you harness and shield your power, It was created by a trusted friend and now I entrust it to you."
Slowly, he raised his head to look at Neher, he could not understand what the young man was talking about. What tool had he given him, he opened his mouth to speak yet Neher raised a hand shook his head.
"I know you want answers but you are still to weak to carry the burden of such knowledge, we will meet again when you grow stronger. Now get out of here, our time’s up."
Before he could open his mouth to speak his consciousness was violently jerked backwards, as if it were hooked by an invisible cord. The crimson glow, the otherworldly throne room, and the striking face of Neher Khepri shattered into millions of dark fragments.
Gasps of air rushed back into Tom’s lungs.
He blinked rapidly. The suffocating darkness was gone, replaced by the familiar light of the arena. Before he could adjust that is when he first heard it;

The system windows didn’t just appear, they exploded into Simon’s vision. At first, it was just a few lines of glowing text. But within a fraction of a second, the interface glitched violently. Hundreds of notification boxes stacked on top of one another, multiplying until they completely blocked out the real world.
A deafening, high-pitched static roared inside his skull. It wasn’t sound traveling through his ears; it was raw, ancient information being violently jammed directly into his mind. Thousands of foreign symbols and historical images flashed across his eyes at a blinding speed. It felt as if someone had opened a dam of boiling energy and poured it straight into his consciousness. The sheer weight of the data became physically painful, crushing his thoughts until his mind began to fracture under the pressure.
The influx was completely unstoppable and entirely overwhelming. Simon’s brain simply could not process the massive cosmic burden of Neher Khepri’s legacy all at once. His vision blurred into a chaotic mess of bleeding red text.
His knees buckled completely. Before he could even cry out, his conscious mind snapped under the immense mental strain, shutting down to protect itself. The roaring static in his head vanished, and Simon plunged forward into a deep, unconscious darkness.
