Once the pain disappeared, Jackson saw the status window floating right in front of his eyes. Just one look, and he almost jumped up like a cat whose tail had been stepped on.
How is this possible?!
The text floating over the computer had somehow appeared on his status window, not just any random spot, but right where his talent should have been.
This doesn’t make sense...
Jackson muttered involuntarily. He clearly remembered that his talent column had been completely empty. He had awakened a talent, but there had been no mention of it. At first, he had assumed it was a nameless talent and simply stopped thinking about it, but now the recent turn of events forced him to rethink everything.
Jackson himself did not seem to realize it yet, but at this point, thousands of thoughts were surging through his head. His thinking seemed clearer, and some things that had not made sense before were becoming crystal clear.
It did not take long for Jackson to notice his own strange state. Thinking of something, he hurriedly moved to the bookshelf right beside the computer and took a math book, finding the most difficult problem that he had been unable to solve. Without even using pen or paper, he started solving it in his head.
x equals y, then y equals x...
The equations, which looked like a foreign language before, now looked no more difficult than child’s play. In no time, he succeeded in solving it. At this moment, he was faster than even a computer. He might have copied the computer’s talent, but he was not a computer — he was a human with the ability to recognize patterns, and in this aspect, a human could beat a computer by thousands of times.
So right now, he had the best of both worlds.
The unmatched raw power of a computer to do calculations, and the human ability to find patterns.
Once Jackson realized this, he knew this was not a dream, but that his intellect had actually improved by leaps and bounds just because he had copied the computer’s talent.
Jackson fell silent, simply staring at the ceiling with a slightly dazed look in his eyes.
It was going to take some time to come to terms with such an absurd talent.
After another breath of time, Jackson stopped thinking and simply started staring at every single object placed in his room.
If he focused for too long, some words would appear on an object’s surface. Jackson continued to experiment, and after some time, he knew the text would float above some selective items and not others.
Although there were over a dozen items in his room, the white text only appeared over three of them.
First was his computer, second his bookshelf, and third the lone sword sitting in one corner of the room.
After playing around for one more hour, he finally understood what was going on. The golden brush gave him the ability to look at the stats of objects. If he had enough spiritual force, he could even copy that talent to his own status window.
This realization caused Jackson to tremble.
Such a talent had never been seen in the past.
If this brush was capable of what he thought it was... just thinking about all the possibilities made Jackson’s heart tremble.
His talent might be stronger than any six-resonance talent. Heck, it was even beyond comparison to some seven-resonance talents.
After taking a couple of deep breaths, Jackson managed to calm down.
Now there was finally hope. If I play my cards right, I can reach the impossible realm...
"There is still a month before the new academy session starts... I need to hurry..."
I might be able to reach the peak of the First Resonance Realm.
The gears in Jackson’s mind turned. To reach the peak of the First Resonance Realm, one needed to grow their spiritual power and mana by ten times. At the peak of the realm, an awakener would have ten points in both mana and spiritual power.
Upon thinking carefully, Jackson once again realized the impossible task he had taken upon himself.
Raising both spiritual power and mana in one month was no joke. Although impossible, there had been several geniuses every year who achieved this impossible feat and were directly admitted into the prestigious academy.
"Now there is hope. I need a plan. There’s only one month, and if I waste even a single day, I might fail in the end..."
With those thoughts in mind, he moved closer to the bookshelf, searching for two books. Although his family was poor, his mother had supported her son’s dream and rewarded him for his hard work by purchasing two necessary manuals that awakeners needed after awakening.
In a practiced motion, Jackson picked up two slightly sturdy-looking books from the bookshelf, flipping their pages open.
The first book was a visualization manual that allowed an awakener to grow their spiritual force, while the second was a body-refining technique.
The stronger the body, the more mana it could store. So an awakener’s mana reservoir directly depended on their physical fitness. Mana was inherently wild energy. If there was not enough spiritual force to control it, an awakener could die from mana going haywire and causing internal bodily damage.
As such, maintaining a delicate balance between the two was necessary.
"Twin-Dragon Visualization Method..."
Jackson first focused on the visualization manual and started flipping through its pages.
The visualization manual was pretty straightforward. One only needed to follow the instructions and imagine a two-headed dragon shaking the earth. In the end, it was just a repetitive method; the more one visualized the dragon, the faster one’s spiritual force would grow.
Relying on the visualization technique alone is not going to cut it. Going by the manual alone, it would take me at least five years just to break through to the next realm.
Five years is too long. I don’t have that much time. Jackson muttered his gaze growing slightly heavy.
Of course, there were ways to speed up the process by taking pills. There existed certain kinds of pills that could enhance the effectiveness of each visualization session.
After that, he turned his focus to the body-refining method. Just like the visualization manual, it was pretty much the same, except it was more about circulating the blood and digesting food faster.
"Mountain-Sitting Tiger Body Refining Method..."
Although it was pretty much the same, Jackson did not dare to slack off. He read every word seriously. After his mother had bought these two manuals for him as a gift, he had to treasure her gift.
After reviewing everything, Jackson waited to begin. However, there was just one problem: he did not have any drugs or pills with him.
It seems first I would need to visit a store before I can begin properly.
