It was only after putting more than a dozen kilometers between himself and the place where he had killed Samuel that Jackson finally allowed himself to stop.

Deep within the forest, he found a secluded area surrounded by dense trees and thick undergrowth. The canopy above blocked most of the sunlight, while the tangled vegetation concealed his presence from anyone passing nearby. After carefully checking his surroundings and making sure there was no immediate danger, Jackson finally relaxed his guard.

The exhaustion that had been suppressed by adrenaline came crashing down all at once.

The earlier battle had consumed far more energy than he had expected. From the moment Samuel appeared, Jackson had been forced to make countless decisions in an instant. Every mistake could have cost him his life. He had pushed his spiritual force and mana to their limits, constantly calculating, escaping, and looking for even the smallest opportunity to survive.

Even now, his mind was still tense from the experience.

Jackson’s entire body was drenched in sweat. His clothes clung tightly to his skin, and each breath came out heavy and rough. His chest rose and fell violently as he tried to regain control of his breathing. His legs felt strangely weak, and he finally bent forward, placing both hands on the alloy knife and using it to support his weight.

For several moments, he simply stood there, breathing heavily.

"This was the closest I had ever been to death..."

A chilling light flashed through Jackson’s eyes.

The scenes from the past few minutes replayed in his mind one after another. Samuel’s terrifying presence, the endless chase through the forest, the moment when deathly miasma had appeared, and the desperate gamble he had made with the Golden Brush.

Most importantly, he remembered how close he had come to dying.

If even one of his calculations had been wrong, or if his modification of the deathly miasma had failed, the result would have been completely different.

Jackson’s fingers tightened slightly around the alloy knife.

But after a moment, he shook his head.

There was no point thinking about it anymore.

Whatever danger he had faced was already behind him. Samuel was dead, while Jackson was still alive. No matter how dangerous the battle had been, the outcome was what mattered.

Now, it was time to inspect the loot.

After resting for a while, Jackson’s breathing gradually returned to normal, and the tension that had been weighing on his body finally eased. He sat down beneath a large tree before taking out the hunter license he had taken from Samuel.

The moment it appeared in his hand, Jackson immediately noticed something unusual.

Unlike his own hunter license, Samuel’s gave off a faint, chilling aura. It was not particularly powerful, but there was something deeply unpleasant about it. Even the smell was strange, carrying a faint metallic scent that reminded Jackson of blood that had soaked into something and remained there for far too long.

Jackson carefully examined it from every angle.

Other than that eerie aura and the disturbing smell, however, the hunter license looked almost identical to his own.

Of course, the similarity existed only on the surface.

Samuel must have visited some black market and gone through considerable trouble to completely erase whatever tracking methods the Hunter Association had placed on his hunter license. Otherwise, with the crimes he had committed, he would have been tracked down and killed long ago.

With this thought in mind, Jackson continued breaking through the remaining layers of resistance within the hunter license. Once the final trace of resistance disappeared, he carefully sent a wisp of spiritual force into it.

The moment his spiritual force entered, the contents of the storage space unfolded before his senses.

Jackson froze.

His eyes widened until they were almost the size of saucers.

For several seconds, he simply stared at the enormous collection of treasures before him. Then he finally lost control and exclaimed aloud.

"Too rich... this guy is filthily rich!"

Compared to the storage space inside his own hunter license, Samuel’s storage was practically another world. The enormous space was so spacious that an elegant house could easily be placed inside, with plenty of room left around it.

But even that was not what shocked Jackson the most.

In one corner of the storage space stood a massive pile of mana stones.

They were stacked together like a small mountain, their surfaces reflecting faint traces of light as they filled an entire section of the space.

Jackson carefully estimated their number.

More than ten million mana stones.

Just thinking about the number made his heart tremble.

For someone like Jackson, this was an astronomical fortune.

And that was only the beginning.

Scattered throughout the storage space were more than a dozen natural treasures. Each one emitted a faint but distinct energy fluctuation, and most of them were treasures capable of increasing the spiritual force attribute.

Jackson’s eyes practically began shining.

He quickly sifted through the treasures one by one, his mood growing more excited with every discovery. Samuel had clearly accumulated his wealth over many years, and much of it was obviously intended to support his cultivation.

However, while searching through the mountain of treasures, Jackson’s gaze suddenly stopped.

Two ordinary-looking booklets were lying quietly in one corner.

"What is this...?"

A surprised sound escaped his mouth.

Compared to the dazzling treasures surrounding them, the two booklets looked almost painfully ordinary. There were no mysterious fluctuations, no radiant glow, and no signs that they contained anything valuable.

If Jackson had not been carefully examining every corner of the storage space, he might have overlooked them completely.

But Jackson had always been thorough.

No matter how insignificant something appeared on the surface, he would never casually ignore it.

Without hesitation, he retrieved the two booklets from the storage space and carefully examined them.

The moment he opened the first one, his brows rose slightly.

The handwriting was messy and uneven, clearly written by hand rather than produced through any sophisticated recording method.

From the appearance of the writing, Jackson could almost immediately guess who had written them.

Samuel himself.

The first booklet was titled:

Twin Moon Escape Skill.

Jackson looked at the strange title with curiosity. The moment his attention settled on it, a familiar window appeared before his eyes, revealing the information hidden within.

[Peak Rank Two Movement Skill — Twin Moon Escape Skill]

[A very difficult escape technique to learn. Once perfectly mastered, the user can create a mirror image of oneself, allowing them to confuse the enemy and escape. This technique looks like an incomplete version of a higher-ranked skill.]

Jackson’s eyes narrowed slightly as he read through the description.

A sharp glint flashed across his eyes.

This was without question a top-tier escape skill.

The ability to create a mirror image at a critical moment could completely change the outcome of a battle. If Samuel had been given enough time to activate this technique during their previous confrontation, Jackson might not have been able to distinguish the real Samuel from his illusion.

In that case, killing him would have been far more difficult.

Jackson’s interest immediately increased.

With rising anticipation, he turned his attention toward the second booklet.

His expectations, however, were quickly dashed.

Unlike the first booklet, the second one contained nothing that looked particularly extraordinary. It was simply a collection of handwritten notes accompanied by a rough map. Several locations had been marked across the map, all of them scattered throughout the inner forest.

Jackson examined the markings carefully.

Then his expression changed.

These locations were not treasure sites.

They were the positions of corrupted monsters.

Samuel had apparently obtained this information from someone in the black market. But surprisingly, he had not acquired it so that he could hunt those monsters.

He had gotten it to avoid them.

Jackson could not help but feel slightly amused.

"Good stuff..."

A satisfied smile appeared on his face.

This information was incredibly valuable. Knowing where dangerous corrupted monsters were located could save him from accidentally wandering into the territory of an existence he could not defeat.

Suddenly, Jackson felt that all the risks he had taken today had been completely worth it.

After organizing everything he had obtained, Jackson quickly left his hiding spot and began making his way back toward the safe boundaries of Sector Sixty-Seven.

As he moved through the forest, he still found himself somewhat curious about just how large the internal space of hunter licenses could become. Samuel’s storage space alone had been enormous, and he wondered what kind of treasures the hunter license of a truly powerful hunter might contain.

But it was already getting very late.

Jackson could not afford to stay in the forest any longer.

If he remained outside for too long, his family would inevitably begin worrying about him.

With that thought, Jackson increased his pace and hurried toward the safety of Sector Sixty-Seven.

However when he reached within the protective boundaries of the sector, Jackson noticed somethings amiss.
