"How did you know?"

The voice came from the Lizard’s mouth, but the tone was entirely flat.

Vorgath looked at him, his large broadsword resting loosely in his grip. "Your aura is perfect. I couldn’t tell the difference between you and the Zarvok’s."

His crimson eyes narrowed slightly. "But there was something else mixed in with it. A tiny trace of a strange, ominous aura. It didn’t belong to him."

He paused for a moment. "Most wouldn’t have noticed it. But for someone with enough experience, it was impossible to miss."

Lokris didn’t argue. He didn’t panic or try to fix his mistake. He simply tilted his head.

"I understand," Lokris said.

A short distance away, hidden in the dark canopy of the surrounding forest, Malrik watched through his connection to his summons.

He didn’t frown, nor did his expression change. The assassination had failed.

"Events do not always proceed as we want," Malrik murmured quietly into the night.

He didn’t waste time dwelling on it. He reached out through their bond and sent Lokris a clear command.

"Let’s move to Plan B."

---

Back inside the command post, Lokris received the command instantly.

Without a word, he took a step backward, his boots sliding quietly over the dirt in a controlled, deliberate retreat. He turned his body slightly, preparing to slip away.

Vorgath’s eyes narrowed.

"Do you really think you can escape after walking into my camp?" Vorgath growled.

He didn’t hesitate. In a sudden blur of violence, Vorgath lunged forward. His heavy broadsword whistled through the air, driven by immense physical force, aiming a lethal horizontal strike for Lokris’s neck.

The blow was blindingly fast—meant to end the intruder before he could take another step.

CLANG!

Sparks erupted in the dim light. A massive figure suddenly appeared between them, both of his axes slamming into the broadsword mid-swing and stopping the blow with a heavy clang.

Biggie stood directly between Vorgath and Lokris. Despite his muscular build, his movement had been fast enough to cross the distance in a heartbeat. He held two heavy, jagged axes, their thick iron blades crossed against Vorgath’s broadsword, pinning it in place. His glowing green eyes locked onto the commander without blinking.

Before Vorgath could recover from the sudden impact, three more figures stepped out of the shadows behind Biggie.

Winter materialized silently, frost drifting off her pale skin. Beside her, Lady Mushroom stood with glowing green veins pulsing along her arms. And next to her was the real Lizard, his crimson scales radiating smoldering heat.

They formed a solid wall in front of Lokris. He was no longer alone.

Vorgath’s arms stiffened against the locked blades. His gaze shifted from the twin axes up to the face of the black beast holding them, then back to the Lizard standing behind him.

His broadsword trembled slightly in his grip.

"Gorath...?" Vorgath rasped, his voice dropping into disbelief. "Zarvok?"

Vorgath knew Gorath had been killed. He had seen him fall with his own eyes. Yet now, Gorath was standing before him, alive and unharmed, holding two heavy axes. And somehow, he seemed even stronger than before.

And then there was Zarvok. The Lizard was standing among the enemy’s ranks. Vorgath’s crimson eyes narrowed as he stared at them. He could not understand how they had ended up here.

"What happened to you?" Vorgath demanded, his confusion quickly turning into a raw, burning rage. "What did you become?"

Neither Biggie nor the Lizard answered. They remained motionless, their eyes cold and detached.

Vorgath’s jaw tightened. He glared past them into the dark woods, his knuckles turning white on his sword hilt.

"Damn those humans..." Vorgath spat, his voice heavy with fury. "Don’t worry. I’ll free you from whatever they’ve done to you."

While Vorgath’s attention remained fixed on Gorath and Zarvok, Lokris quietly began to retreat.

He took several steps back, putting more distance between himself and the commander. Vorgath was too focused on his former comrades to stop him.

Lokris turned and withdrew from the camp, leaving the four spirits behind to face the commander and his crow.

The moment Lokris disappeared into the tree line, Winter moved.

A cold wind burst from his body as she stepped forward. Frost spread beneath his feet, racing across the ground in an instant.

Frozen Ground.

A wave of freezing air burst from his body.

The muddy ground froze in an instant. Grass, fallen leaves, and exposed roots were sealed beneath a layer of ice as the frost spread through the forest.

The freezing wave rushed toward Vorgath and Varkhane.

Vorgath and Varkhane didn’t wait for the cold to reach them. Vorgath pushed off the frozen ground and leaped backward, his heavy frame moving with surprising speed.

Varkhane spread his broad black wings and shot sideways through the air, narrowly avoiding the advancing frost.

Before Vorgath’s feet touched the ground, the ice exploded beneath him.

Biggie surged out of the frost, closing the distance in a single, terrifying bound. He held two heavy, jagged axes, bringing them down in a brutal overhead strike that carried his entire weight.

Vorgath brought his heavy broadsword up with a single, practiced motion, catching the descending axes mid-air.

CLANG!

The frozen earth cracked beneath their boots, but Vorgath didn’t yield an inch of ground. His broad shoulders locked, taking the full kinetic force of the impact without shifting his stance.

Biggie’s raw power was staggering—far faster and heavier than the brute he remembered—but the commander met it with absolute physical dominance.

"You got stronger, Gorath..." Vorgath grunted, his voice cold and steady despite the crushing weight above him.

Biggie grinned, his razor-sharp teeth glinting in the firelight as he flexed his blue-green marked arms into the lock. "Do you like Biggie’s new muscles?"

"They just make you a bigger target," Vorgath replied.

With an explosive surge of strength, Vorgath drove his blade upward, violently throwing Biggie’s twin axes back and forcing the massive warbeast two steps off-balance.

Vorgath stepped in to follow up, but intense heat flared beneath his boots. The solid ice dissolved into a pool of bubbling, orange lava as Zarvok channeled a torrent of molten rock directly across his flank.

Recognizing the trap, Vorgath aborted his offensive drive.

Remaining locked with Biggie would have left him open to the molten stream, so he pivoted smoothly, bringing his broadsword around in a heavy, sweeping arc.

The compressed force of the swing split the incoming lava stream down the middle, sending scalding steam billowing into the air.

Through the white haze, Zarvok instantly followed up with a volley of dense fire projectiles.

Vorgath shattered the first two mid-air with precise, lightning-fast steel strikes, but the explosive barrage forced him to step laterally onto the hard ice to maintain his footing.

Biggie didn’t waste the opening.

Plunging straight through the burning steam, the black warbeast closed the gap with explosive speed, bringing his axes down in a brutal cross-strike.

Vorgath planted his feet and met the attack head-on.

His heavy broadsword crashed against the twin axes, the impact sending sparks through the frozen air.
