There were only three eighth ranks, and initial eighth ranks at that. Hornet didn’t dare say that it could take all three of them on, but fighting two at the same time was an easy proposition. It and Earth Spirit could neutralize all three of the eighth ranks!
The rest would have such an easy time taking out Li Hao and the seventh ranks!
But if they didn’t act now, the situation might change for the worse!
“There’s no rush,” laughed Reincarnation. He looked into the distance and blazed with presence. The might of a peak eighth rank filled the eastern region.
“Arctic Frost, you should already see evidence of my sincerity,” his voice boomed through the void like a massive wave. “It’s your turn next!”
In a locale very, very far away, eighth rank presences shot into the air.
One, two, three...
Fifteen eighth rank presences rocked the four corners. The entire region seemed to be enveloped by eighth ranks.
In response, one, two, three more...
Five new eighth rank presences rose in response. The Human King, Supreme Zhang, Ash Emperor, Light, and... the Sun God!
The Sun God was the first person in New Martial to set foot into seventh rank. He’d done so even before the Human King. He was also displaying eighth rank might this time.
They were five eighth ranks against triple their number of eighth ranks. It seemed to be worse odds than what Li Hao faced. However, the Human King was completely unafraid. Brazen laughter rang crazily through the void. The two sides weren’t that far apart.
“Li Hao, I’ll come help you after I kill these chickens! Hang in there. How dare a bunch of rats pit themselves against New Martial??”
So what if they were outnumbered three to one?
He was very strong, as was the supreme. Light was a veteran eighth rank as well. The latter wasn’t weak either, just much less than Reincarnation.
Although there were a lot of enemies, the Human King felt that the group of eastern region eighth ranks would certainly fall apart as long as he killed one or two of them.
Li Hao did not give a response.
Reincarnation smiled faintly. He looked at Li Hao. “New Martial probably won’t be able to help you! Of course, Arctic Frost and his people won’t be able to stop New Martial either, despite Arctic Frost’s strength.
“Li Hao, if all is as I surmise, then Long Zhan is nearby as well,” he chuckled. “You have no place to go. Based on what I know, you wield time thanks to the seed of time that you received from New Martial.
“I’ll spare you if you hand that over. And in fact, I’ll even help you eliminate Long Zhan! I know that you have a blood feud with the chaos beasts!”
He was trying to bring Li Hao into the fold! The Reincarnation master seemed to care more about Long Zhan.
The eighth ranks around the man shifted with displeasure. In their eyes, they were here for Li Hao. Granted, the young man wouldn’t be a concern after he handed over the seed of time. Long Zhan was indeed more of an issue.
That dragon was a true premier powerhouse!
Reincarnation strode through the void like he was out on a field excursion. He wasn’t underestimating Li Hao, but confident in his overwhelming advantage. His upper hand was so complete that he really didn’t need to fear a seventh rank.
As the once foremost powerhouse of the eastern region, he had his pride. He’d been quite regretful and pained when Li Hao ruined his plan to kill the Human King. This time, there was no chance of that happening. Battle had already started in the distance.
Presences from twenty eighth ranks rocked the area. Countless worlds shook in their wake. Ten more eighth presence rose into the void. that made for more than thirty eighth ranks in this battle. This had never been seen before in a million years.
“Long Zhan, I know you’re nearby!” Reincarnation’s voice echoed in the vicinity. “The entire chaos knows what you have planned! But given the state of affairs today... are you really going to get involved?”
There was no response. It was like Long Zhan had completely vanished or hadn’t come at all. But whether it was Li Hao or Reincarnation, they firmly believed that the dragon was on the premises. He wasn’t far.
As Reincarnation drew closer, the seventh ranks from the alliance cowered in the rear. Some sweated profusely from extreme nerves. A few even took a few steps back.
They’d put it nicely before, that they wanted to fight for everyone’s future. But when face to face with such premier existences... they were afraid.
Myriad Changes was likewise nervous. He looked at those around him and realized with a sinking heart that these guys probably couldn’t stand up to the pressure.
There were six seventh ranks from the alliance of mid worlds, of which included the newly ascended Wan Qiu and veteran peak seventh rank Myriad Changes. The six of them acting together could even take on an eighth rank.
And if this group collapsed as well...
Myriad Changes furrowed his brows and looked at Li Hao. This one... didn’t seem to have any tricks up his sleeve to save himself. What should they do?
New Martial was trapped. It’d be more than enough if they were able to save themselves. The Human King was just talking tough. How would it be that easy to kill a few eighth ranks when surrounded by fifteen of them?
Long Zhan might even be here to kill the young man, not Reincarnation.
Every single eighth rank in the eastern region was part of the battle this time. Not a single one was abstaining.
What should Myriad Changes do?
Countless ideas rose in his mind. He was very depressed. Was the road to eighth rank this hard?
Badump...
It sounded like either the beat of a heart or Reincarnation’s footsteps. Each step he took in the void seemed to stomp on the hearts of Li Hao and his group.
Reincarnation watched as Li Hao loomed larger in his field of view. So young!
Reincarnation sighed as he gazed upon Li Hao. The latter really was very young. A cultivator’s age was not determined by their appearance. Powerhouses could naturally sense the age of another. The young man in front of him was so young that it could scarcely be believed.
Are you... not afraid at all?
Li Hao neither retreated nor ran. The young man wasn’t shaking with fear either. He simply watched Reincarnation quietly, as if waiting for the man to arrive.
That actually levied some pressure on Reincarnation. How laughable!
He would be very happy if Li Hao started panicking, but the young man remaining utterly calm was a source of stress instead. The man smiled and continued walking forward, shortening the gap between them. The eighth ranks behind him followed closely.
“I’m curious about one thing, Li Hao. It happened just before we came... why did the ripple of time... disappear?”
“Does Fellow Daoist Reincarnation want to know why?” Li Hao laughed.
“A little!” Reincarnation nodded. The two sides were exceedingly close by now. For eighth ranks, this was a range that they could attack in.
Li Hao took a deep breath and shook the chaos strength in the surroundings. A streak of golden light appeared in his eyes and he looked across the way. He seemed to peer through everything. Dao rules appeared in his eyes.
Chaos dao.
It was the same as when he’d looked at the Dragon master. As he scanned the powerhouses standing across from him, avenues of great dao spread throughout the chaos. All of them were formidable. Two immensely powerful ones revolved around the Reincarnation master—life and death!
They were as if two massive dragons circling around the worlds.
Only one kunpeng hovered around Peng Cheng. A miasma of poisonous qi wreathed Hornet, pulsing like it could corrode even the chaos.
A forest rose around Earth Spirit, suppressing the void like a mountain. All of these eighth ranks had their own unique attributes.
Earth Spirit’s defenses were unparalleled, Peng Cheng’s strength was unrivaled. Hornet was exceedingly fast and poisonous, and Reincarnation was formidable. The two Reincarnation eighth ranks were the only weaklings. The two other eighth ranks rushing to join them from the rear were slightly weaker.
A sword appeared in Li Hao’s hand.
The peak sixth rank Firmament Sword was looking worse for the wear. But that was only for a moment. The sword then melded into the chaos to absorb energy and swiftly repair itself.
“Do you still choose to resist, even at this stage?” frowned Reincarnation.
Li Hao remained unmoving. He simply looked at Reincarnation. Hornet shifted impatiently next to the man. The monster spirit itched to take action. Countless poisonous spikes trembled, ready to fire like a rain of arrows. It would take out Li Hao’s entire group in one go!
The three eighth ranks behind Li Hao flared with energy. The dao chess reverted to a chessboard state and enshrouded everyone, on guard against a sudden ambush from Hornet. Giant dragons of thunder and lightning appeared over the stern Thunder Emperor. Fog Mountain strummed a massive drum in his hand, the dull tones suffocating as they washed over listeners.
Li Hao suddenly stirred to action and took one step forward.
He wasn’t putting on a tough act, but waiting. Waiting to digest the gains from all of the exalted emperors becoming part of his river. The young man didn’t care why Reincarnation hadn’t been in a rush to make a move. He simply wanted to play for a bit more time and incorporate the newly strengthened dao stars into his own strength.
Hence, he didn’t know why Reincarnation stopped. Neither did he care to find out. He just knew that he’d completed his task!
Li Hao smiled noncommittally, emotionlessly. He gently floated upward and said softly, “There is no need for further words given how things have progressed. We fight!”
“Kill!” The other eighth ranks roared impatiently before Reincarnation could say a word. The two sides were so close and the gap between their strength so large. What were they waiting for??
They couldn’t wait anymore! They would kill the Silver Moon contingent before anything else!
Hornet immediately raised its speed beyond the human eye. This was its strong suit to begin with. It pierced through the void like a sharp sword, instantly appearing in front of Li Hao and letting loose with all of its spikes!
It felt that if it was lucky enough, it would be able to kill the entire group by itself!
Once Li Hao was dead, it could steal the seed of time.
“I knew that you were the fastest!” Li Hao’s voice rang by its ear. The young man seemed to be smiling. I knew that this guy would arrive first! I’ll test my sword of melded daos on it.
The longsword in his hand held a combined ten thousand worlds. The river of dao appeared with countless stars above it. A figure could be glimpsed in each of the stars. Innumerable exalted emperors were all paying attention to the fight and extremely nervous!
They... really were as Li Hao had said, able to sense the sword intent, the integration of ten thousand daos, the might and ferocity of a premier eighth rank.
They were also all part of the sword.
“This is the sword of time!”
The sword incorporated ten thousand daos within it. Thousands of shadows hovered over it. Li Hao thrust his weapon outward amid Hornet’s disbelieving eyes. The young man was so fast that he was several times faster than the monster spirit!
So fast!
Unbounded speed caused time to stutter and the worlds to halt. This was Li Hao’s first time using the sword of time. It was what he expected would bring him to ninth rank!
Although the blow was nowhere near as strong as a real ninth rank, the Reincarnation master froze one step away. How could this be??
How many was this? Five thousand? Six thousand daos??
