Star Gate

Chapter 1975: Demon, Saint! (II)

The Human King was a crazy individual, exceedingly crazy. Terror crept in for the Arctic Frost master. He was scared, truly scared. He wanted to cry, but had no tears with which to do so.

I’m not responsible for this!

It was a joint decision between the three overlords and the eighth ranks of the eastern region to attack! I’m just the strongest powerhouse, so I’m acting as the leader. That doesn’t mean that I’m calling the shots!

New Martial is crazy...

He knew a little about New Martial, but not in great detail. Today the Arctic Frost master learned that this was a group of madmen from start to finish. They were just as crazy when they reached eighth rank.

He sensed the danger of death.

Other exalted emperors didn’t dare let loose with all of their strength due to wariness of New Martial. They also felt that it was nice to have Arctic Frost blocking the way for them. All of them were employing guerrilla tactics at the moment, attempting to surround the New Martial eighth ranks. However, it hadn’t occurred to them that the three Arctic Frost exalted emperors might go down with their enemies!

Had they considered the notion before?

They might have... but since the rest weren’t the ones who would die, the conclusion was that it would be nice for New Martial to lose their minds and take Arctic Frost down with them. However much they rejoiced was however much Arctic Frost despaired!

Their world master was being pummeled by the Human King and taken off guard by the ferocity of Fang Ping’s offensive. Supreme Zhang and the other eighth ranks had completely lost their minds and charged the other eighth ranks.

There were eighth ranks all around, but no one dared stop the New Martial delegation’s charge. Even the ones in front of the Arctic Frost eighth ranks subconsciously got out of the way. They wanted to steer clear of the New Martial crazies!

The Arctic Frost master could barely breathe. He started to lose hope and wanted to scream with fury. It’s not me! I’m not the ringleader!

......

The berserk madness taking place on the other side of the battlefield was so off the charts that even Li Hao was shaken. He tilted his head at the Thunder Emperor. The three eighth ranks were very stiff.

To be honest, they understood this kind of battle. It was easy to understand the situation at a single glance. And typically speaking, the effects would be great. Anyone could grasp this strategy.

But when it came down to it... it was also crazy!

Seventh ranks self detonating at will? Eighth ranks attacking only one faction? Even if they wanted to learn such strategies, they would have a very difficult time with them!

They wouldn’t dare imitate New Martial!

Li Hao understood something in this moment. He stared at the Reincarnation master and scoffed. The Human King... really is something, huh? I get it! I might not have learned precisely what he intended, but I get what to do.

Veteran seniors are truly quite a character.

“To upend heaven and earth!”

The eighth ranks across the way jerked with surprise at Li Hao’s shout. The two Reincarnation eighth ranks behind their world master slipped and tumbled through the void.

It took only a second for them to arrive behind Li Hao. The young man wielded a longsword, fighting one against five. He drew a circle on the ground, upon which rose a wall of great dao!

“Everyone, kill these two!” he roared. “People who’ve died once already should be quiet!”

Earthturner Sword!

The Earthturner Sword appeared and Li Hao turned into a dao domain, sealing off the way ahead. The Reincarnation master whipped his head back and gaped.

“Break the wall of dao!” he screamed before letting loose with a furious barrage. Li Hao wanted to kill the remaining two Reincarnation exalted emperors!

The three eighth ranks and six seventh ranks looked at the two enemy eighth ranks that’d suddenly appeared in front of them. They were astonished, but the Thunder Emperor narrowed his eyes.

“Kill them! We can’t let anyone take us lightly!”

Boom!

Thunder and lightning broke out as Li Hao continued to fight one against five! He wanted to stop these five opponents and create time for his people. Reincarnation major world would be greatly weakened once those two eighth ranks were dead.

Clearly, he’d learned this tactic from New Martial.

Just as the Human King was focusing on Arctic Frost due to reading the situation as a temporary alliance, the same applied on Li Hao’s side. If he wanted to kill the two Reincarnation exalted emperors, the other factions might not risk their lives to save those two.

Such was the human heart!

But the caveat was, Li Hao’s people needed to act fast. Those two needed to die before Li Hao was defeated.

The two eighth ranks were also aware of that. Having died once already, they were pale at the possibility of dying again. Life and death appeared with their shouts as they sent out countless wraiths, blotting out the heavens.

And yet, thunder and lightning churned the wraiths to pieces.

“Hold on for just a moment!” shouted the normally calm Reincarnation master. “Just hold on! Li Hao cannot stand against us!”

As strong as Li Hao was, he could not withstand a joint offensive from five eighth ranks. So long as the Reincarnation exalted emperors clung to life, those outside would be able to destroy Li Hao’s Earthturner Sword defenses.

The millstone of life and death manifested!

The Reincarnation master didn’t dare keep anything in reserve. He summoned his most powerful treasure and smashed it over and over again into Li Hao’s wall of dao!

Immense dao rules blew up the minor worlds within the dao domain. Some of the mental entities inside the thousands of worlds exploded, but that was beyond the young man’s ability to look out for. He was fighting so many. Being able to hold them off for a split second was already beyond his limits.

Peng Cheng took his form as a kunpeng and slammed the wall, making some worlds quake violently.

Earth Spirit howled as well and flung endless mountains at the wall. The wall further shuddered.

As strong as Li Hao was, he was not so strong that he could fight one against five. He was already very strong at almost six thousand dao rules, but his dao domain was crumbling away and showed signs of complete collapse.

Three eighth ranks and six seventh ranks surrounded the two Reincarnation eighth ranks. The latter two were focused on defense and survival. They didn’t make a single move to counterattack. That actually prevented their deaths for a short period of time!

The Thunder Emperor and others looked on with dismay. Whoever broke the defenses first might be the winner. The three of them were working with Myriad Changes, but could not break through the duo’s defense fast enough. If Li Hao faltered first... then they might lose this battle.

Should they imitate New Martial?

The sudden thought rose to mind. Should they self detonate?

The self detonation of an eighth rank was sufficient to break the defenses of the two Reincarnation exalted emperors, but...

It was really hard for them to make such a decision.

Even though they trusted Li Hao implicitly, such was the human heart. A decision like that required a very long period of shared history.

All of the Silver Moon martial masters within Li Hao’s dao domain watched with burning urgency. Someone glanced at the queen in one of the stars, prompting her to look sharply back at them.

A man walked out of one of the stars. He strode extremely swiftly and didn’t join the battle to the rear.

It was dao master Hong Yitang.

He quickly melded into Li Hao’s river of dao, searching for something in it before anyone could respond. The man fished out a small golden ball. The queen’s eyes widened—that was... the dao of faith.

When innumerable humans flared with the power of faith, she hadn’t been able to bear that much and gave it all to Li Hao.

The young man hadn’t been willing to accept it either, so he suppressed the power at the bottom of his river.

But now Hong Yitang took it and swallowed it with one gulp.

He typically kept a very low profile and was as quiet as a mouse. He didn’t think of himself as a dao master even when he was one. In his eyes, his river of dao came from Li Hao. It wasn’t a product of his own cultivation. Everything was from Li Hao.

He was satisfied with his lot in life. Hong Yitang wasn’t as combative or desired to excel like other Silver Moons did. The man didn’t think he possessed much talent even as a peak sixth rank.

Life was very satisfying after his wife and daughter became exalted emperors. There was almost nothing that he wanted.

Gan Wuliang was much more proactive than him these days. Hong Yitang had almost taken a position behind the scenes and rarely gave his opinions.

He extracted himself from the river of dao in this moment and broke it apart. A heartbeat passed before the river of dao reoriented itself toward Gan Wuliang. The latter paled with dismay!

What are you doing?? Are you trying to be the death of me?! How would I dare absorb a twin dao universe??

Unparalleled power of faith ignited over Hong Yitang. It was unquestionably domineering, filled with protection and responsibility!

This was the purest faith and yearning of hundreds of billions of humans.

Hong Yitang radiated brilliant radiance, as if he was a sun. It was only a moment before he landed behind the enemy. He was coolly composed and indifferent to what might be happening around him.

His personal ethos had always been that of being at peace with the world. But with great power came great responsibility. When life went well, one’s focus should turn outward to society and the world as a whole. Such had always been his personal beliefs.

If he had the ability to help humanity, why shouldn’t he use it?

He’d taken in orphans early on and continued the practice over the years. Thus, he didn’t feel much repulsion toward the unending power of faith that streamed into him. Safeguarding humanity was a massive responsibility that ran beyond the abilities of a peak sixth rank.

And yet, he accepted it all the same.

He looked into the distance, at New Martial. New Martial citizens were very willing to go to their deaths in order to help the Human King. They sacrificed themselves just to create the best battle timing and pave the way for him.

And Silver Moon...

While Silver Moon martial masters were very united, there were far too few of them. Who could give Li Hao the same kind of help as New Martial gave to the Human King?

The only thing Silver Moon could do was continuously leech off Li Hao.
