Chapter 1980: Dao Breaks, Reincarnation Dies (IV)

Eighth ranks continuously erupted with energy around Li Hao. All sorts of death arts flared in the air. It was like these people were truly alive.

Li Hao’s longsword had snapped. He brought fists to bear, moving toward his opponent as he fought. The Five Styles were deployed to their utmost capability. Supernatural characters appeared one after another, suppressing the four corners. However, they were shattered whenever they appeared.

Li Hao coughed up black blood. He considered his situation gravely—this dao was difficult to break!

He didn’t say anything. A myriad of worlds surfaced in his river and rotated endlessly, swapping out for each other. Thunder and lightning soon materialized, but in a very weak form. Thunderbolts sizzled down with a roar!

Countless spirits were obliterated, but quickly resurrected again.

They could not be completely eliminated. That only resulted in a limited drain on Reincarnation, but Li Hao didn’t care about that. He hovered over the myriad of worlds while Reincarnation watched from above. Surprised delight appeared in the man’s eyes.

Ten thousand daos were on display. Li Hao was... arranging order!

He was rotating between a myriad of daos, hoping to select one that would counteract the dead spirits and the dao of death qi.

The great dao continued to evolve.

Li Hao quickly organized life and death from the arrangement, centering the daos around these two. He absorbed the collapse of a large number of wraiths, but... a muffled grunt sounded from the river before long. Although the world of life and death was stronger now, Lin Hongyu could not withstand it. She was beginning to collapse.

Li Hao raised a brow. Clearly, his life and death were too weak to endure Reincarnation’s version of it. He quickly changed tack and focused on emptiness and revitalization. After silencing a portion of the spirits, he encountered another issue...

Both sides were bringing their methods to bear in this dao world. Reincarnation utilized life and death to the utmost of his capability—his body was smoking from it. That was a sign that his mental strength was overloaded, but he continued to train a sharp look on Li Hao.

Can you break my reincarnation cycle?

BOOM!

Li Hao flew backward after a massive boom. His skin was blackened and death qi wreathed his body. All of the powerful figures he faced were still there, just greatly weakened.

Some of the martial masters sitting in the worlds within the river couldn’t contain themselves anymore.

“Retreat!” roared Southern Fist. “He’ll wear you down to death in here!”

“Shut up!” Li Hao shouted. Southern Fist stamped his foot with anger!

They really would die here if the situation continued. Why did the kid have to insist on single combat now??

Li Hao breathed out heavily and looked at the heart in the distance. He furrowed his brows. Reincarnation set the rules here, and they were very simple. Those who died could be repeatedly brought back to life. The only consumption was energy and the heart was the core. Breaking the heart would put a stop to the resurrections!

And yet, he was having trouble breaking such an easy rule.

Rules!

This was the rule that he’d seen in the future and its usage. Reincarnation had touched upon it, but not in a significant way. This was the dao of order in the future and the man used it in a more sophisticated way than Li Hao did currently.

“The cycle of reincarnation...” Li Hao murmured. Endless reincarnation would weaken his opponents, but weaken himself even faster. He really would be unable to break out of this world if the status quo continued.

No wonder Reincarnation was confident in issuing this challenge.

Did Li Hao regret accepting it?

Of course not. The young man wore a smile on his face instead. This was challenging and fun!

“The reincarnation of life and death and establishment of rules...” Li Hao looked at Reincarnation with curiosity. “You need to assimilate with the dao if you want to lay down rules. So you’ve become part of life and death?”

The man’s heart jolted and he looked sharply at Li Hao with surprise.

“I haven’t integrated into my own dao.” Reincarnation quickly shook his head. “But that... I’ve killed so many people over the years and so many have died on the world. These people ultimately collected as dead spirits, so the dao itself naturally gained some spirituality. Li Hao, you’re quite something!”

So the young man knew about rules and order!

Reincarnation was quite shaken by the discovery. He’d thought that Li Hao’s strength contained some unique hints prior to this, so it was because the young man was pursuing rules!

“Not bad at all!” Li Hao complimented. “I see. A dao can have its own spirit without the wielder becoming part of it. The deaths of countless others can create it as well. Then that means that other great daos can be nurtured in the same way!

“Impressive! I’m beginning to understand... The supernatural characters!” A lightbulb went off in the young man’s mind. “Supernatural characters are part of dao, all life cultivates them. They collect the mind and qi within the body and supernatural characters nurture dao.

“One dao transforms into a myriad of supernatural characters. They cultivate the mind, dao, and spirit!”

After combining some of what he’d seen from the future, Li Hao now fully understood how they cultivated in that era. They combined their own mind and qi to generate a supernatural character. Countless people walked one path to perfect it. They assimilated their minds into it, to become one with the dao and nurture the spirit. The dao possessed a spirit and rules were born of their own!

So this was the case!

He hadn’t understood it before, simply knowing that someone needed to be part of a dao before a spirit would form. But now, he understood that that was a dao spirit born later on. A great dao could naturally form a dao spirit by itself!

Billions of people cultivating the same dao without division of race, gender, or potential could build supernatural characters. The same supernatural character meant that they were walking the same path!

I see!

This was similar to Silver Moon’s dao meridians, but those were dao meridians that needed to be individually trained. They couldn’t strengthen a singular dao. Instead, dao meridians of the same attribute were required for each dao!

Reincarnation’s eyes widened. His response seemed to have helped Li Hao understand something. At this point in their conflict, one of them had to die. If he died, then it didn’t matter what Li Hao gained. If Li Hao died, then it didn’t matter what the young man gained either.

Countless exalted emperors once more made their moves from the surroundings. Even some people that’d cropped up in a previous visit to the past appeared. Mixed in among the dead were Li Hao’s parents, Zhang Yuan, and weak cultivators that Li Hao had killed early on.

There was Sun Moxuan of the Qimei Staff discipline. Li Hao had not forgotten him even now.

All of them were present.

They were either grief-stricken or sorrowful, but they swarmed Li Hao nonetheless. Reincarnation watched silently from above. The dao of life and death, of reincarnation, was also one that attacked the heart.

Everyone had their own weaknesses. Those who were dead might be Li Hao’s.

Do you not have any?

I don’t believe that!

Li Hao did not fly into a rage even when he saw his parents and Zhang Yuan rushing him. He just felt... an indescribable sense of melancholy and joy.

I think I know how to break his dao!

The myriad of daos shifted and many quickly disappeared. The great dao assembled into a new configuration and a red power rose from Li Hao’s body. He looked at the friends and family charging at him...

The young man then smiled at Reincarnation. “Thank you. I’ve always wanted to give this a try, but never dared... I never could!”

Some of those who have died are too important to me. Do you know what my greatest desire is? Not wish, but desire!

The power of Red Moon erupted from Li Hao’s body at a concentration much denser than the Red Moon master’s.

“I want to... resurrect them!” howled the young man. “I can’t do so in reality, I wouldn’t dare do so. But here, I can!”

So there were countless dead spirits around?

Then he would fully bring them back to life! The daos of life and death could not accomplish that, so he would draw on desire instead. Endless desire would bring them back!

Immense desire outstripped everything in this moment.

Even Reincarnation swayed, sensing the might of unbounded desire. That desire... could make one go mad and lose themselves.

......

The four regions.

Red Moon jerked his head back with a look of shock in his eyes!

Long Zhan looked back at the same time. There was a surge of desire in the far distance, so dense that it was stunning.

The dragon blinked.

Desire?

That level of desire filled the void. Someone seemed to be yelling and bellowing that... I will... resurrect you guys!

Red Moon stared in a daze. Desire?

What kind of desire could be this strong? It eclipsed his own dao of desire and spread to the entire chaos. A maddened howl sharpened for all of the powerhouses in the universe.

“Resurrect!”

I will exhaust everything and consume everything to bring you guys back!

Who was being resurrected?

And who was doing the deed?

......

The world of death.

Endless wraiths struggled, but changes developed in them as well. The dead spirits seemed to be fully coming back to life. Li Hao was no longer killing them, but bringing them back.

The power of desire spread madly through the world, so densely concentrated that it resurrected countless dead spirits and returned their memories and clarity...

And with that, the hordes of wraiths pivoted and charged Reincarnation.

“Reincarnation!”

“You’re still alive!”

“Die!!” Many of them had fallen to the man or his exalted emperors, so now that they were alive again thanks to the dao of desire, they rebelled!

Up in the sky, Reincarnation stared. Resurrection... Not through life and death, the kind that he’d pulled off before, but through the resurrection of memory.

Desire!

This was the dao of Red Moon major world, a very weak eighth rank world that Li Hao had defeated early on...

It was a dao that he’d almost fully ignored, but was now turning into the bane of his own daos!
