The Human King insisted that “martial dao was competition”. He might be the weakest among the group, but his keen edge was on full display at the moment. It was also his first time demonstrating such an unparalleled bearing in public.
I pursue that momentary flare of splendor! I seek being known throughout the chaos. I will fight to the last moment of my dying breath! I will create a legend that endures!
I don’t care about conquering the world and chaos dao! I simply care about having the chaos remember me!
Remember that my name is Fang Ping, that I am the Human King Fang Ping, the king of martial dao!
Long Zhan rose into the air with a calm expression on his face. “I agree with the idea of competition! There is competition in all things. No one is born high and noble, no one is born an overlord.
“But strength is needed if we are to vie for things. Fighting for something without the requisite strength is just to be a brainless brute! Which one do you think you are, Human King?”
“Which one am I?” laughed Fang Ping. “I’m the sort that is trapped in adverse circumstances!”
Long Zhan blinked and didn’t immediately respond.
“I am undefeated!” the Human King called out in a clear voice. “I rose from the masses and was not born into a lofty standing. My life may have been short, but I have weathered rises and falls. I have endured the highs and lows of life!
“I have attempted both life and death. I attack and I defend! New Martial rose from adverse circumstances and broke through the heavens to vie for a future. We compete to be unparalleled! Although I lack sufficient strength, I will make sure you vomit blood if you bite me!”
“We fight!” shouted figures in the area.
New Martial cultivators didn’t seem to care about the gazes of the others as they bellowed with emotion. The Human King would fight! Martial dao was competition!
Discussion of dao?
What discussion?
In the Human King’s eyes, discussion took place wherever he was!
“Then I ask you, you say that all things must be vied for,” Long Zhan asked after a moment of silence. “That you New Martial exalted emperors must fight each other as well! You are the king of New Martial and they are your subordinates.
“If they overthrow your rule and take your position, that is a type of competition as well. What would you do then?”
“Why would I not admit my shortcomings if I am not on par with someone else?” laughed the Human King. “Just as you say, there is nothing undeserving about my death if I die in battle to someone else!
“Who will pity us in this world? Who will show us sympathy? Not to mention, these people are my brothers, my siblings!” The Human King roared with laughter. “What does it matter if I’m the boss or they’re the boss? There is healthy competition and there is toxic competition.
“Healthy is New Martial, toxic is you guys! [1] If invasion and conquering is your goal, then you are toxic!”
“Toxic?” Long Zhan said coldly. “Do you know how many of the chaos race are enslaved by humans throughout the chaos? They struggle for survival. Does the toxic competition of your eyes mean bowing our heads to fate?”
“Why should you bow your head to fate?” exhorted the Human King. “You fight for your status! I never said that you should not or cannot fight! Just go at it with tooth and nail! Why scheme this and plot that? What’s the point in that?
“If this king had your strength, I would’ve long charged out of the four regions. I would kill anyone who dares enslave my people!
“Long Zhan, you plot and plan because of your cowardice. You’ve lost your hot-bloodedness. You spent your time debating whether you should fight or not. What a joke! With your strength and capabilities, you can just kill your enemies!
“Those who enslave my people can die! Those who do not give me my proper due can die! Those who block my rise can die!
“Who cares about Chaos Sky, Spring Autumn, or Five Elements?! They will hand over my people or I will go down with them! When it comes to matters of race, helping others is to be a traitor. Those who betray my race will die!
“Like that Peng Cheng, for example, an eighth rank chaos beast who dares help outsiders invade the east. I would kill him even at the cost of my own life! I will intimidate the four regions of the chaos with his death!”
“......” His words inflamed the hearts of even the other chaos beasts that’d ventured into Allheaven Hall, including Feng Yan.
Indeed, this was how things should be. They would kill those who betrayed the race!
They hadn’t thought much of Peng Cheng’s actions before, but now that they gave it further thought, it was true. He was a chaos beast, yet helped Chaos Sky and Reincarnation against the eastern region. That was the territory of the four regions!
Should a traitor like that not be executed?
He should!
“......” Long Zhan didn’t make a sound.
“But Peng Cheng is a living being in his own right,” Chaos Sky laughed wordlessly. “He has his own choices and decisions in mind. Why should he not be able to select the path that he likes? Why must he be restrained by another? Why must he fight for strangers...”
“That’s true, but the interests of a race sometimes do not respect common sensibilities. They take precedence over everything!” smiled the Human King. "Of course, it’s another thing entirely if Long Zhan doesn’t care about these kinds of actions. Maybe he’s not fighting for the chaos beasts and just doing so to conquer the chaos. Then he has no right to speak of the race’s interests.
“But if he’s doing all this for chaos beasts, then Peng Cheng is benefiting from his efforts. Even if Peng Cheng has sworn allegiance to Chaos Sky, then he needs to return and help the chaos beasts in critical moments. If not, he needs to die! Traitors need to be killed even more than enemies!”
“......” This guy’s logic focused on killing. Chaos Sky felt that if he was permitted to speak freely, he would goad the chaos beasts into fighting Chaos Sky major world before the great contest of dao even started.
Damn, this guy has a silver tongue! This youngster’s got a lot of stuff to say.
Long Zhan, however, had a thoughtful look on his face. He’d come to exchange insights about the rules of time, but now he was being affected but what he’d heard. It wasn’t that the Human King’s words were that compelling, but that they struck a deep chord in the dragon.
I fight for the rise of my race!
I seek to change the destinies of the chaos race, so that we no longer have to wander through the universe and be enslaved by humans for generation after generation. The interests of the race are higher than everything!
You can refrain from contributing to the cause, but you can’t stab me in the back at a time like this!
Take that Peng Cheng, for example. He can serve Chaos Sky, but he cannot help the human target the chaos race. If he does so... he will be a race traitor!
There are many chaos beasts like him scattered throughout the universe. Some of them are strong, some of them are weak. Some of them actively serve another faction, some of them do so passively...
These are all recruitment targets that can strengthen my race!
“Thank you for your tutelage!” Long Zhan suddenly said after a long period of thought.
“......” Chaos Sky looked on with a headache. He could tell that the dragon was being affected. It wasn’t that the Human King’s dao was exerting an influence, but that the Human King was actually a very shrewd person, despite the blockhead exterior he presented.
He was everything to everyone. What he’d just said must’ve touched Long Zhan on a deep level. Even if others voiced similar sentiments on a regular basis, they wouldn’t dare say it to the dragon. Hence, he would take in what the Human King said.
What a troublemaker!
He wasn’t called the shitstirrer of the chaos and a rat for no reason.
“So this means to say that monster spirits are the same?” giggled Spring Autumn. “In the Human King’s eyes, do those who are born a monster spirit not have to follow the commands of another?”
“That’s right!” grinned the Human King. “Aren’t all living beings similar? But you monster spirits aren’t that poorly off, so what are you getting involved for? Monster spirits have many world masters among them. Life is decent for you guys, right?”
“Are you worried that I’ll do something with the large number of monster spirits in your New Martial?” smiled Spring Autumn.
“Would you dare?” snorted the Human King. “I readily admit that I may not be as strong as you, and you may think of yourself as something due to the countless years you’ve lived. But I’ve made my way through the world from a pitifully weak existence.
“I have survived a myriad of battles! I leap into any battle and turn the tides by flipping the tables of life and death! I have never been defeated. Would you... like to give it a try?”
“I would indeed!” Spring Autumn snorted as well. You talk a big talk! Undying through a myriad of battles?
Then I’ll show you death!
“Seniors, this is Allheaven Hall, a place to discuss dao.” A soft cough rang out. “Discussion can take place verbally... It would be quite a shame to disrupt harmonious relationships with each other...”
The voice faded away. It was Li Hao. He’d been listening with quite some resignation to the Human King’s speech. Truth be told, he agreed with some of what he heard and was worked up by the notion.
But... he didn’t want any trouble here!
You keep picking at things, but it’s not like they’re weaklings. If you really piss them off and they have a go at you... it’ll still be tricky to handle. You can run off, but it hasn’t been long since I established Allheaven Hall. Don’t break it!
......
Everyone else within the secret realm was completely quiet. Each person was more excited than the last.
The Human King, Long Zhan, Chaos Sky, Spring Autumn...
And now the Silver Moon king had spoken!
Apart from Five Elements, the most preeminent of the chaos were all here. They were simply having a conversation, but it was like they were fighting each other. It was such a thrilling experience just to listen to them!
The Human King’s words were all too beguiling.
Martial dao was competition!
Everything must be fought for!
These words resonated with everyone on a deep level. We’re not ordinary either, no exalted emperor is. But in front of countless more resplendent people, how are we not ordinary?
The chaos cannot light so many lamps!
We want to fight for ourselves too, but our strength doesn’t permit it!
