Li Hao looked at the void, at the countless great daos that were connected to the dao of calamity. They all seemed to contain a bit of spirit, which made the great dao more lively and stronger.
The dao of calamity would be nothing to be concerned about once the young man eliminated the spirit within!
Boom!
A loud explosion rang through the void—not from Li Hao’s side, but in the distance. The Skyward master had made his move.
Mountains toppled and skies caved in from a single casual blow. Spatial art dissected the air, splitting it into countless divisions. The divisions couldn’t be shattered through no matter how the Human King erupted with blade qi or Long Zhan’s golden body smashed around!
The Skyward master was ridiculously strong, even in replica form. He also clearly didn’t care about the attacks raining down on him. What effect would they have? It didn’t matter how many people they had!
At his level, it didn’t matter how many opponents were in the field. Spatial dao was an extremely strong dao within the chaos. Worlds seemed to appear with every hand wave. They were born in his gaze!
They surrounded the Human King and his people, suppressing them. There was spirit in the great dao!
......
At the same time, on the fringes of the four regions.
Outside Thunder Region.
Two figures could be vaguely seen in the gloom. Chaos Sky was here, as well as the shadow that was always with him. Both of them looked into the distance, at where the projection still existed.
Silence hung heavily over them.
Ninth rank!
That was the might of a ninth rank.
In Chaos Sky’s opinion, the Human King might not be projecting the battle to the rest of the chaos just for his own vanity. He might be... helping everyone see clearly just how strong ninth ranks were!
Perhaps he wanted to send that information to Chaos Sky’s faction in particular. And perhaps the Human King wanted to tell the rest that even if he went down in battle, he would make sure that everyone else knew how formidable ninth ranks were.
The Human King was a very great personage!
Chaos Sky did not think he was mistaken and thinking too highly of the Human King. An overlord like him would not go to such effort just to be able to strut through the entire chaos. This altruistic motive could be the only answer.
The Human King wanted those who wished to resist to see what made ninth ranks special and prepare them to fight. He was placing himself in danger for the benefit of all. As expected of the New Martial Human King!
“Dao master...” the shadow said softly. “Should we help them?”
It was just ninth rank replicas present on the scene. The Human King’s group might be able to hold out for a bit longer, but there was only Silver Moon in Thunder Region. They would probably have difficulty facing the Calamity master.
The latter’s strength continued to grow. Li Hao seemed powerless to stop him. The young man might be killed in an instant once battle broke out!
The rest of the chaos would be in trouble then.
Li Hao had almost completely consumed his reserves when he utilized time to eliminate the Thunder Region and Skyward powerhouses. Chaos Sky and the shadow had fully observed everything. In the shadow’s opinion, their assistance was paramount in helping to turn the situation around.
But even with their help, a positive outcome wasn’t guaranteed.
“Will the Exalted Hao Moon Emperor... really court death?” Chaos Sky furrowed his brows and looked around.
That was a major question on his mind.
The other was that he was concerned about drawing more powerhouses out of hiding if he made a move. That might include the factions of the other ninth ranks.
Calamity and Skyward had left with all of their people, so they needed to set up their return and reawakening. Would the other ninth ranks need the same?
Not everyone would’ve left. There had to be worlds belonging to other ninth ranks in the chaos, ones that’d been silent and hiding all this time. They might be awake now and could come out of hiding if Chaos Sky joined the battlefield.
Granted, they might appear all the same if he didn’t do anything. Therefore, what he might need to do now was to halt the next batch of powerhouses that wished to enter the playing field. But he didn’t have enough people to work with!
Those over at Five Elements major world might be people left behind by the elemental envoys. Spring Autumn was neutralizing them, and that was only a force on the surface. What about those in hiding?
Chaos Sky cast his gaze at Li Hao again. I’m not asking you to fight Calamity, but at least delay him for a bit.
However, he could sense that Calamity’s presence was so strong by now that it was unbearable. Chaos Sky shifted his feet again. He couldn’t just sit by and watch any longer. The entire eastern region might fall apart if he did.
Once he did, it wouldn’t be just the three in the east who suffered for it. He would be affected as well.
......
Natural disasters ran amok.
Endless dao strength manifested and plagues raged through the area. Any exalted emperor who caught a whiff of the presence soon found themselves lightheaded and the world spinning in front of them.
Weaker cultivators turned an unhealthy pallor and quickly backed away. They couldn’t handle the pressure even before Calamity had made a move. What a terrifying person!
The void ignited of its own accord.
Some Silver Moon martial masters shouted, finding themselves suddenly on fire. They backed away, but tripped over their feet. Mighty exalted emperors were toppling this way and that in the void, then promptly covered by chaos strength and nearly churned to pieces.
Such was Calamity!
The Calamity master walked over, smiling faintly when he saw Li Hao. Misfortune struck the entire Silver Moon martial master contingent as the Calamity master approached.
Natural catastrophe and manmade disasters...
Fire raged out of control when Southern Fist accidentally utilized a bit too much fire energy. Those around him were burned as well. They scowled at He Yong, who looked helplessly back at them. He was also a blackened mess from his own fire! It was a fearful experience.
They weren’t afraid of the enemy being strong, but Calamity seemed to be able to deliver untold disaster, simply by virtue of being close to them. It was just a string of accidents, but ones that delivered anguish and pain for the victims.
Li Hao, however, saw more than met the eye.
He’d been part of chaos dao all this time. Spirit and dao strength wafted through the void, invisible to the others. What they deemed as accidents were anything but. It was a dao filled with spirit that was manipulating them.
There was no such thing as spontaneous disasters! Just... manmade troubles.
Of course, weaklings could neither see nor touch what was manipulating them. The fact that exalted emperors had almost died from a few simple prods was a far greater threat than one issued by a powerhouse that could kill with one punch.
It was horrifying!
Eighth ranks let loose with their presence. Calamity’s fate appeared in Fog Mountain’s eyes, but the eyeballs promptly welled up with blood. What he saw instead of their enemy’s fate was searing golden light and a great dao!
He was unable to affect the other’s destiny. If he did, it would backfire on him instead.
Thunder and lightning struck around the Thunder Emperor, but the chaos tribulations around him kept him so penned in that he couldn’t even lift his head.
Myriad Changes, the dao chess, and Void also wanted to let loose with their strength, but all of them were subject to formless suppression.
Five eighth ranks had been contained through the air by their opponent! That was utterly flabbergasting!
“We should retreat!” Void had to transmit to Li Hao. “Let’s run to the west. Chaos Sky is there, so we’ll have a chance...”
He wasn’t afraid of battle, but had to acquiesce in the face of such an overwhelming powerhouse. In fact, he was starting to worry about his father.
His father was fighting on the Skyward side of the battlefield. If even Calamity was so strong, then Skyward would be even more terrifying. Could the Human King’s group stand up to their opponent?
What was Li Hao waiting for?
......
The young man was waiting for an opportunity, for when spirit was at its most active!
Now was not the time. It’d only just begun.
There was spirit in the great dao and spirit controlled the great dao. That was the dao spirit. It ensured that there was a natural order to the great dao. That made for a rudimentary dao rule.
The spirit of this age was not active due to many years of weakness. But since ninth ranks could control spirit, dao spirits gradually came back to life with their return.
There was integration!
Spirit from cultivators that’d died was converging. That fortified the Calamity master and filled his own dao with spirit.
Calamity was yet to strike with his full strength because there wasn’t sufficient spirit. He might win if he acted now, but he wouldn’t be as strong as anticipated. He might have to pay a price, but might suffer from doing so because the Skyward master was nearby.
Would Skyward let him come into his own power?
Not necessarily!
Hence, the Calamity master needed to activate spirit to its utmost if he wished to maintain his strongest condition. That was the moment that Li Hao was waiting for.
The young man was so mysterious and profound that the mere sight of his unmoving form instilled some wariness in the Calamity master. The man frowned. Why was the second generation cultivator of time... not doing anything?
“Li Hao, I might spare you if you swear allegiance to me. So long as you sign a dao treaty with me and set a chaos tribulation as punishment... I can consider showing you mercy!” Since Li Hao was in no hurry, then he was also in no hurry.
It was just as Li Hao had seen and realized, the Calamity master was still gathering spirit. One had to say, the chaos possessed too little after a million years. The fact that it had any at all was the only comfort.
He needed to wait for spirit to reach a peak before he had sufficient strength for the developments to come. The person in front of him was just small fry.
“A dao treaty?” Li Hao burst out laughing. “Does the senior dare sign a dao treaty with me? I’ve experienced my fair share of chaos tribulations. Does the senior think that they can do anything to me?”
“The ones you’ve weathered were all without order.” Calamity raised an eyebrow with a smile. “They were simply scattered throughout the chaos. Perhaps you don’t think much of them, but you don’t understand just how strong ordered chaos tribulations can be. That is even more the case when I am in the chaos!
“Do you understand any of this?” Calamity smiled. Current tribulations were just randomly scattered thunder tribulations. Do you really think that this is all there is to chaos tribulations?
They are in their true form only when I am here and have gathered sufficient spirit. Everyone below ninth rank will be smote to death!
Weaker ninth ranks will be grievously injured all the same. You think too little of chaos tribulations!
