Chapter 2048: An Interesting Soul (II)

“You and I are the same.” Fang Ping continued to address Li Hao. “But you’re better off than me because you entered the chaos not long after reaching invincibility in Silver Moon. There are a lot of challenges in the chaos, so everything is fresh and interesting.

“But in a few years, after you settle the chaos, you’ll find then that... you’re very lonely. So, kid, get yourself a wife and have some babies. Enjoy the present. Otherwise... you’ll drown in regret. Take it from someone who’s been in your shoes before. Don’t give me crap about starting a family after you conquer the chaos. You’ll be damned old then!”

The Human King was talking of old age to someone in their twenties, and this was the chaos universe! Clearly, he might’ve lived through such a period.

“Right, I’ve always wondered about something,” Li Hao suddenly said. “How come... I’ve never seen the Human King Consort?”

That was right! Where was she? He’d never caught sight of her.

Although they said she was in New Martial, Li Hao hadn’t seen her in any of the battles. And when the Human King spoke of children... did he not have any?

One thousand years!

Based on the Human King’s personality, would he not have kids for a thousand years?

That was strange!

“Yun Xi?” The Human King smiled in a meaningful manner. “Don’t gossip like that, ole little brother. You’re still young, there’s a lot you don’t understand. You’ll get it when you grow up!”

“......” Fuck you, man!

I’m just asking. Why do you have to pretend to be all mysterious and that? I’m young? Young where? You’re the childish one, alright? I’m so much more serious than you.

Although the Human King was a thousand years old, he lived like he was a child. Of course, that might bring him joy. It could be part of the adjustments he’d made after experiencing loneliness from invincibility. That could’ve given rise to the capricious Human King of modern day.

But... your personality... seriously bums out other people.

Li Hao had other ideas in mind after conversing with the Human King. Fang Ping continued at this point, “People should give themselves almost unattainable goals in life. You’ll have motivation before it’s complete. After that, you’re trash.

“My goal then was to facilitate peace in New Martial. After I accomplished that, I became useless... Therefore, you should have a goal too!”

“I do...” Li Hao smiled.

“To resurrect your family and friends?”

“Yep!”

“Is that hard? It’ll be done after you kill a ninth rank. We killed a ninth rank’s replica today, so we’ll be able to kill Skyward himself tomorrow. This goal of yours isn’t enough!”

Li Hao blinked. Are you crazy or am I? I’m... going to kill all of the ninth ranks. You think a goal like that isn’t enough? Then what about you?

“So the Human King’s goal...” the young man asked, his interest piqued. “Since the Human King thinks that making enemies of all ninth ranks isn’t an ultimate goal, then what can be an ultimate goal?”

“I have a dream of making everyone in the chaos write me an IOU,” grinned the Human King. “There’s countless worlds in the chaos. Even if all of them owe me now, how about their descendants? Newly born worlds? If successive generations are going to be part of my goal, then I can wait and struggle on.

“This way, I will have a goal so long as the worlds are not extinguished and life still exists!”

Hot damn!

Li Hao really had to give it to him. This was a stupendous goal. It was a target that would never be reached, unless the chaos went extinct. Otherwise, it would be just as the Human King said—where there was chaos, there was life and heritage. Generation after generation...

Damn!

No wonder he’s so confident that he won’t lose sight of his goal. He can... seriously wait around for this to be finished! Human King, you win when you last until the death of the chaos!

“Then I... can’t do the same thing, can I?” Li Hao didn’t know whether he should laugh or cry. What kind of nonsense was this?? This was so juvenile!

“And why not?” laughed the Human King. “We just need to seize the present. You can set a goal of your own—don’t you like to study dao? Then say you’re going to locate a hundred million daos. Who said that there’s only ten thousand in a myriad?

“The one who lives on flattery under your command, is his dao part of time? Farting is dao, [1] cursing is dao, killing is dao. Everything and anything can be dao! Dao is unlimited. From one comes two, from two comes three, and from three comes all living things. Living beings give birth to more living beings...”

Li Hao paused. He stared at Human King, unable to say anything for the longest time.

“I don’t like War, even though he gave me a lot of help,” the man grinned. “He was a crucial factor in my rise, but I don’t like him! Even though a lot of people admire him, I don’t!

“He left too much crap and too many problems behind. He thinks he stands at a high vantage point and gave up everything because he felt sullied by this world... What a joke!

“He’s an irresponsible guy!” Fang Ping lifted his head proudly. “I don’t like him. I wouldn’t give up, no matter how tough the going became. I would never relinquish the responsibility that I should shoulder! I don’t care how much he left behind or how strong his potential is. I don’t care how removed from the world he is.

“He’s just a coward! Li Hao, I don’t wish for you to follow his path. And now... it looks like you might be affected by him more than you thought. After you resurrect your family and become invincible through the chaos, that might be when you become like him. You’ll head to your own destruction out of sheer loneliness!”

Li Hao frowned and was silent for a while. “Perhaps... but I think that shouldn’t be the case for me.”

“It doesn’t matter what you think, it just matters what I think!” The Human King was as tyrannical as usual. He was so domineering that Li Hao wasn’t used to it. “Very well, I know that you might not be able to accept what I say. It’s fine, die if you wish!

“There is no persuading a person who is dead. You just need to remember to give me everything you can before you die.”

“......” Li Hao’s face twitched. “Um... it won’t go to that!”

Screw you, old man!

He’d always been more or less respectful of this senior, but today, he wanted nothing more than to curse Fang Ping’s name.

Screw you, seriously. I’m giving you all of my stuff when I die? Dream on!

The Human King laughed and clapped Li Hao’s shoulder again. “Mmhmm, it looks like you won’t want to die in the short run. No worries, I’ll wait for you!”

“......” Li Hao didn’t know what to say. He was growing weary of this conversation and quickly changed the subject. “Then I take my leave, Senior Human King. The four regions may not be safe, so it’s better to give them up for now. There are still some of Calamity and Skyward’s setups in the surroundings, so they might be able to send a replica through again...”

“Don’t worry, I’m leaving this place to Long Zhan first!” The Human King grinned. “The dragon refuses to leave, Skyward has its roots here, New Martial has also established itself here. The War Sovereign never left this place or took New Martial with him, despite being able to travel the past and future.

“You were born here too. The four regions might be more than appears to the eye! Perhaps the roots of chaos dao are here. Perhaps the frontier of the chaos is here! And perhaps the core of the chaos is here too... Whatever it is, the four regions are far more than what they seem!”

Fang Ping wasn’t as brash as outsiders thought he was. He grinned craftily like a fox. “We can have Long Zhan safeguard this place first. He rose to his power here too and obtained the spirit of the chaos. So clearly, the four regions are special!

“How did he do it? Where did he get the spirit from? Can any chaos beast obtain it? I don’t think so! Thus... let us wait and see. If ninth ranks are able to descend in the future, things will get lively in the four regions!”

“......” Li Hao raised an eyebrow. The Human King clearly wasn’t a martial blockhead. It was just... forget it, not being a blockhead didn’t mean that he wasn’t a street thug. Being a thug had nothing to do with intelligence. His actions made him a thug.

He was a thug that wandered throughout the chaos!

Li Hao nodded and said nothing else. “Then I’ll be off. I need to ensure that everyone gets back.”

He still had ten thousand mental entities in his river of dao.

“Sure.” The Human King smiled and nodded. “Ah yes, I’ve been working on a grand plan lately that I’d like to complete with you. Are you interested?”

“......” Huh? “Who are we killing?”

“......” It was Fang Ping’s turn to look on wordlessly. “What do you mean who are we killing? Don’t you have any interests other than killing people? I want to build sky canopies, enough to fill the chaos!

“Didn’t you do that in Silver Moon before? And don’t you have your Allheaven Hall? Isn’t it perfect, we can have one canopy at each entrance. They’ll be massive and live stream to the entire chaos!

“That would be a helluva time!” beamed the Human King. “Next time we fight and kill someone, we’ll let the whole universe know! How boring is it in the chaos universe. If we want any fun, we have to seek it out ourselves! Also, I want to rent a place in your Allheaven Hall and set up a live-streaming platform.

“We’ll do it right inside the secret realm so that mental entities can watch it anytime!” The Human King grew more excited the more he explained his idea. “Are we supposed to discuss dao everyday and not apply it in battle? How boring! For example, we can put today’s battle on repeat and show those exalted emperors how we killed people, especially ninth ranks!

“There are a lot of benefits to doing so. First, that will ensure that exalted emperors in the chaos will recognize us!

“Second, they will know how strong we are and won’t dare provoke you. They’ll be afraid at the very sight of you! Indeed, being someone vicious means that people need to be afraid of the mere glance from you.

“Third, this will give them another benefit of observing a fight between ninth ranks. They might not have a chance to participate in something like this themselves for their entire lives.

“Fourth, streaming a fight of ninth ranks means that you can advertise to even more people. This will be a huge attraction for Allheaven Hall! No one else will dare do so and are also concerned about others seeing through their dao.

“What are you afraid of?! I’m not afraid! Stream it and keep it on loop!

“Fifth, we can make our enemies submit without engaging in battle. People will bend their head and knee wherever New Martial and Silver Moon pass through. Isn’t that grand?”

“......” Li Hao blinked and sank into contemplation. While the Human King was being quite frivolous, he wasn’t completely making things out of thin air.

“The chaos is boring,” continued the Human King. “Only when there are more interesting people in the chaos does it become more interesting! I’ve discovered that this chaos and you are all very boring. Whereas I like interesting people and interesting souls even more so!

“This will ensure a clear flow of communication and everyone being aware of the circumstances. And of course, we can show off how amazing we are!” The Human King winked. “Stepping in front of people in all our glory is what’s real, being splendid in the dark is boring! Won’t I be lonely as hell if no one knows me when I’m already invincible?

“Why should we even bother cultivating if no one knows about our prestige? This martial world you speak of, don’t its participants seek fame?”
