Calamity was one of the other ninth rank worlds available in the current chaos, but there were only thunder pillars left of it. Perhaps the Calamity master had emptied it early on and left behind only the thunder pillars.
“Or maybe I should take one of the overlords’ home worlds and devour it?” Li Hao wondered.
That would probably be enough then!
Their worlds might not be any weaker than current ninth rank worlds. The ninth rank worlds lacked a master, after all, and had been silent all these years. They really might not be any stronger than those that belonged to the overlords.
Should he go for Spring Autumn?
Chaos Sky?
Or Five Elements?
As for sending his teacher to handle Five Elements, that was just showing his teacher face. Yuan Shuo was the only one treating the mission seriously, Li Hao absolutely did not. It would be an absolute joke if he hoped for a seventh rank to kill the overlords of Five Elements.
His teacher had impressive potential, but that didn’t mean he could achieve a feat like that. Sending Yuan Shuo to the north had just been to send a vanguard.
Directing the elemental envoys there... had been to prevent the five elements from being killed by others. Li Hao had long considered Five Elements to be his captive prey.
I’m most skilled at the Five Styles. They’re the core of my dao, so I’ll use the strength of the five elements to build the final loop...
Li Hao summoned a person with a wave of his hand—a confused Hu Qingfeng!
“You, sit in residence here and summon...” transmitted Li Hao before the baffled man could speak. “Have that thing come here and pretend to be in closed door cultivation. Don’t tell anyone. It’s not that I don’t trust our people, but that there’s too many eyes on me these days!”
Hu Qingfeng understood! He quickly smiled fawningly, projecting with his entire body a response of don’t worry milord, I’ll have no problem with that!
Li Hao was immensely resigned by the beaming face.
“Don’t reveal the fact that I’ve left. I’m going to take care of some business...” The young man suddenly grinned. “If anyone comes for me, have someone go to New Martial to ask the Human King for help...”
“Mmhmm!” Hu Qingfeng bobbed his head up and down.
Li Hao wasn’t going to bring anyone with him, he wanted to head to the north alone. He was going to eliminate the northern region! Seven thousand dao rules should give him enough strength. He also wasn’t going to do so openly.
Both Chaos Sky and Spring Autumn likely had their eyes set on the north.
My teacher is there only with seventh rank strength, so he’s probably been discovered. They might think... that my teacher is the heart of operation. Alright, then he can take the fall for what I’m about to do!
“Everyone thinks I’m going to establish my chaos in the east...” Li Hao grinned. Why did it have to be the east? The chaos was so massive, it was the same anywhere.
He could go to the north, and if that didn’t work, he would go to the west. It’d be nice to create his worlds in Chaos Sky’s base of operations. Everything was nice and orderly there, which actually made it a more ideal location.
He was going to take everyone off guard!
I also need to accumulate some energy from whatever I’m going to do, so I have enough to cultivate with. I can’t do this out in the open because that would expose all of my trump cards.
“It’s better for the chaos to be in a bit more of a mess. Only then will I be able to steal the chestnuts roasting in a fire!” Now that he thought about it, perhaps he should... disguise himself on this journey.
How about posing as a ninth rank? Or perhaps a powerhouse from a ninth rank?
It’s not like they can defend themselves or expose me, anyhow.
“Everyone knows that I know the dao of calamity and the five elements...”
I have to pretend to be the dao master of a dao that they don’t know about!
“Time, life and death, emptiness and revitalization, withering and flourishing, order, desire...”
None of those daos were viable options. Yin and yang wouldn’t do either!
So what other daos are there that are very strong, but no one knows that I know?
Li Hao knew a lot of daos, but not that many formidable ones. He had surface knowledge of most daos.
The key is, it can’t draw suspicion to me. Also, it has to be one of the core daos that the ninth ranks wielded a million years ago...
Ideas filtered through his mind before the young man settled on one.
“Let’s go with disorder!” Li Hao laughed. He knew that dao and there were others cultivating it as well. Instead of a human cultivating it in Silver Moon, it was a tree. The redwood had been cultivating it all along.
Disorder wasn’t a difficult dao to practice, it was just one hard to improve in.
Li Hao chose disorder because of... order!
Disorder opposed order, which meant that Chaos Sky wouldn’t think twice when Li Hao invaded his territory. And since the dao of disorder created mayhem and unrest as a primary modus operandi, his actions would be in line with the principles of his dao.
“Mmhmm, I’ll pretend to be the dao master of disorder...” Li Hao knew a little of some of the personages from a million years ago. The one he’d chosen hadn’t been renowned and was said to have mediocre strength. Perhaps this was the best candidate.
The young man disappeared on the spot once he thought this through and departed from the east!
He truly needed to keep a lower profile on this trip as, on the surface, he was a good person who maintained order. I can’t wreck my reputation!
......
The chaos was vast and unbounded. It was expansive, mysterious, and gigantic. But after one came to know it, they might find it empty, boring, and cheerless.
The chaos had always been such a desolate place. A single world in it was but a drop of water in the ocean. All things could start and end in the chaos without affecting it in the slightest.
The worlds that were grouped in the north would not consider themselves to be in the north. The cardinal directions were denoted by the powerhouses for the simple sake of convenience. To the worlds, being able to identify the minor regions around them was the limit of what they could do in the chaos.
Some exalted emperors spent their entire lives in one minor region.
There were nine layers to the chaos!
Li Hao now understood that they’d been built by the former master of order dao. Sadly, they didn’t seem to be fully complete. The nine layers hadn’t been completely separated from each other. They were an abandoned work in progress.
Hence, Li Hao’s original assessment had been correct. The true nature of the nine layers was indeed the dao heritage of a premier powerhouse. It was a tremendous pity that Order hadn’t been able to finish his work.
If he had, the chaos might be calmer and more orderly. The delineation between the strong and weak might be more pronounced, which would bring more opportunities to the weak. The fact that his work affected the entire chaos was an easy indicator of how strong the Order master of yesteryear had been!
As for why he’d been killed and by whom, those such as Skyward and Calamity were probably all co-conspirators. Modern day Chaos Sky had probably inherited Order’s will and heritage.
The further north one ventured, the denser the power of the five elements became. Li Hao took in this change as he journeyed through the chaos, sensing the faint shift in energy. The Five Elements exalted emperors weren’t weak, but they didn’t amount to much when compared to the other overlords.
For there to be such dense energy in the north...
One had to know that all areas cultivated the five elements, so it didn’t make sense for the five elements to be so much stronger here than anywhere else. Unless...
There was a dao spirit of the five elements here! And that was the exclusive hallmark of a ninth rank.
There seemed to be dao masters of the five elements among the ninth ranks. So could that mean... that Five Elements major world was the world that had belonged to the elemental dao masters?
That wasn’t necessarily the case, but if a ninth rank world of the five elements existed in the north...
Of the silenced ninth rank worlds, had not a single one risen in power over one million years?
Li Hao had disguised himself for this trip. His features were indistinct and spirit seemed to emanate from his body. However, that was detectable only by a powerhouse.
Disorder wafted around him, but he sought to conceal that at all costs. A real ninth rank wouldn’t be here in such fanfare if they’d returned to the chaos. They would be the epitome of prudence and caution.
He needed to put on a convincing act with his show. Li Hao was pretending to be Disorder not because he wished to fight ninth ranks. He just wanted to confound Chaos Sky and the man’s subordinates. However, avoiding a direct clash with Chaos Sky was also a big priority.
The chaos was vast, but Li Hao hadn’t traveled through much of it before. He wasn’t in a hurry for this trip and took his time. A dark gloom permeated everywhere, but it was a rare moment of relaxation for him.
This might have been his biggest dream when he was a youngster and newly set foot on the path of martial dao. He yearned to set out for the unexplored hinterlands of the world with just his sword on his back.
The trivialities of life, responsibility, and war had turned that into a pie in the sky. Now that he calculated the time, Li Hao realized that it’d possibly been five years since he entered the chaos. It was hard to record the passage of time in the chaos since there was no unified calendar.
It was too big and no one had conquered all of it, so there was naturally no publicly accepted chaos calendar.
Five years was but the snap of a finger. He’d become a martial master at twenty and completed Silver Moon’s unification at twenty-three. Although those years had been short, they’d been very satisfying.
Five years in the chaos had brought nothing but slaughter and homeless wandering...
This was not the martial world of his hopes. This martial world was not that exciting.
“Am I already twenty-eight?” Li Hao realized with a start. So... I am. The corner of his lips turned upward.
This might still mean a juvenile youth to most people, but to him, it meant that he might miss out on many things.
There is no time in the chaos, so what does five years matter?
Li Hao continued journeying through the gloom. It was a pity of a pity how dark the universe was. That meant it lacked certain things and wasn’t accessible by regular people. Since regular people couldn’t set foot here, only exalted emperors made their way through the area.
That meant there was a lack of bullies or highwaymen.
I’m a wandering hero journeying through the martial world, but there is no stage for my heroism and no beauty to save. What a shame!
We’re all exalted emperors, so who would deign to harass a beautiful girl?
Damned shame!
He walked alone with no familiar faces around him. As he walked, things became boring, if leisurely. It’d be nice to travel with someone. A stranger would do, but would a stranger dare travel with another stranger?
Allheaven Hall was yet to be set up in the north. Therefore, this place was not as bustling as the eastern region. Some entrances in the east saw a lot of foot traffic. Many exalted emperors were there and created a buzz of conversation.
What was once the most war-torn part of the chaos was now the most lively. The higher levels were busy killing each other, but the mid and low ranks were having the time of their lives discussing dao.
It was quite a strange atmosphere in the east, whereas the north... was deserted through and through.
