Each Rampart Warden of the Nine Ramparts had been extremely powerful. Every one of them had been a being beyond legend. Countless people sought to become legends without realizing that legends themselves pursued the ordinary.
What is the ordinary?
When rain falls, every person and every living creature knows that it is rain. That is the ordinary.
Above is the sky, and below is the earth. That is the ordinary.
The force of a punch is strength. That too is ordinary.
The ordinary is so commonplace that it goes unnoticed. That is how common knowledge is formed. But when legends become common knowledge, that is when they become truly terrifying.
During that era, cultivators of the Second Rampart had cultivated the Path of Dispassion. Many had said that they cultivated Hong Shuang’s path. When speaking of the Path of Dispassion, the only name that had come to anyone’s mind was Hong Shuang’s. She had seemed less a person and more a synonym for power; that was the common sense of the Second Rampart.
That had also been Hong Xia’s common sense.
Betray Hong Shuang? How could he dare? What right did he have? The one who had been truly capable of betraying Hong Shuang was Wang Wen, not Hong Xia. He had merely been used by Wang Wen to launch a sneak attack against Hong Shuang.
What kind of person warranted Wang Wen waiting countless years for? Hong Shuang.
She had disappeared, but the Path of Dispassion that she had left behind illuminated the Trio, becoming the only light across an unknown expanse of the Aevum Inch.
At this moment, even Stillness and the branch of the River of Aeons withdrew to avoid the power.
As Chu Songyun fiercely swung his hand, the Path of Dispassion drew a circle, slashing at the Divine King, Death's Dominion, Ni Bieluo, and Nan Ling. All four supreme experts were targeted by the Path of Dispassion, and they were struck simultaneously.
With a thunderous boom, a brilliant crimson light erupted across the Trio.
Far in the distance, Hong Xia’s pupils shrank as an indescribable fear forced him to instinctively take several steps back, even though he knew that the power could not reach him.
The Divine King was blasted back.
Death's Dominion resisted with Stillness, only to still be forced back.
Even Ni Bieluo’s trident was nearly shaken out of its grasp.
Only Nan Ling was able to teleport away and completely avoid the power.
From the branch of the River of Aeons came Old Man Hehe’s voice. "She is still as domineering as ever, hehe."
Outside the Trio, Ni Bieluo gripped its trident and stared at the Tianyuan in shock, feeling a tremor in its heart. What kind of creatures had once belonged to human civilization? The Mudwater Dominion had never fought against the ancient human civilization, and thus it had no understanding of the Nine Ramparts’ brilliance.
Death's Dominion had previously fought against the Path of Dispassion. When they had participated in the war against the Nine Ramparts, they had not been qualified to face a Rampart Warden. Only now could they finally experience that level of power.
The Divine King’s killing intent deepened as it stared at Chu Songyun. This power could only be unleashed once. Even if some bit of power remained, this human could no longer release it.
Even so, this human civilization had produced such magnificent power. It could not be allowed to continue. If such a being reappeared, the Divine Realm itself would be doomed.
Countless creatures throughout the Aevum Inch had regressed to the ancient era. Who knew if human civilization had ever had someone return?
No potential threat could be left for the future.
Kill! The Divine King’s power surged through the starry sky. Chu Songyun spat out blood, yet he continued to grip the sword that served as the handle of the Red Umbrella. He let out a low roar as his face flushed red. A flicker of the power of the Path of Dispassion flashed and then vanished.
The Divine King immediately froze, staring at the man uncertainly.
Ni Bieluo and Death's Dominion also turned to look at Chu Songyun. He smiled, blood staining his lips as it dripped from his mouth. "Come on! I only have one more strike. Truly, just one. But which of you is willing to take it?"
The Divine King refused to act rashly. The earlier burst of the Path of Dispassion had been too terrifying. If the full power of that strike were directed at him alone, he had no confidence that he could withstand it unharmed. The injury would not be worth the cost.
Beneath Ni Bieluo, a bridge spanned the three megaverses. The creature stared at Chu Songyun, but it did not make a move.
Only Death's Dominion moved, but Old Man Hehe immediately intercepted the giant skeleton.
Chu Songyun was forcing himself to endure. He clenched the umbrella handle tightly, his head lowered. He maintained a position as if he were ready to strike at any moment.
Threads of blood linked his lips to the hilt of the swords as blood continued to seep from his body.
Mister Mu stared at Chu Songyun’s back, feeling like he was seeing a second Lu Yin. The Path of Dispassion was not truly devoid of emotion. If it were, why would Hong Shuang be considered the most compassionate?
The more ruthless a person appeared to be, perhaps the more strongly they felt their emotions. Who could understand this? Only the Path of Dispassion.

Outside of Manifest City, Lu Yin’s body had completely deteriorated. Even the Immortal stone monster thought that the man had to be dead. The human had no aura at all.
It glanced at Lu Yin and then in the Trio’s direction again. The earlier burst of the Path of Dispassion had terrified it so much that it had not even dared to look over for a time.
Something must have happened.
Forget it, it has nothing to do with me. Should I leave? This human is probably dead, and without him, the other humans might not find me. Even if they do, capturing me won’t be easy.
However, if this human was not truly dead and later returned to settle accounts, what then?
The stone monster was terribly conflicted. 100,000 years... Thinking about it, that time doesn’t seem too long.
No need to take risks. Yes, no need.
Just as that thought occurred to it, the space around Lu Yin contracted and then expanded. The entire cosmos seemed to abruptly drop down, leaving the stone monster dizzy. It was as if it had lost its center of gravity, only to uncontrollably rise back up again.
The stone monster instinctively grabbed for a nearby wall while staring blankly at Lu Yin.
The fluctuations around him were occurring more and more frequently. The stone monster could feel them, but when it looked directly at the human, nothing seemed to move.
The moment it looked away, the sensation returned.
Damn it! What is happening?
It had broken into the Immortal realm and seen others do the same, but it had never experienced a breakthrough this strange. It was as if the cosmos itself was shifting because of Lu Yin.
In the Aevum Inch, there was no up or down, no overall line of reference to be found. All that existed were coordinates defined by reference points that could distinguish directions.
But at this moment, the stone monster clearly sensed height and depth to the cosmos. It felt as though Lu Yin was the only true reference point in the Aevum Inch.
However, Lu Yin still had no aura, and his injuries were so severe that they looked fatal. The stone monster knew that the human was attempting a breakthrough, but it had never seen such a method before.
Self-destruction? Lu Yin had not only lost his aura, but also his vitality. He seemed like a corpse.
And yet, the fluctuations were speeding up. It was as if the entire Aevum Inch was being driven by them. Suddenly, the stone monster understood that they were not fluctuations, but rather a heartbeat. The human’s heartbeat was shaking the cosmos itself. It could feel this because it could hear it. Looking or not made little difference. Only listening mattered.
A heartbeat meant that Lu Yin was still alive, but was this heartbeat not too intense?
Was this a heartbeat that a human should have? The larger and more vigorous the creature, the stronger its heartbeat. But even if humans grew powerful, their heartbeats should never be like this. This heartbeat was resonating with the cosmos itself.
Lu Yin’s heartbeat was indeed so overwhelming that the stone monster thought that the cosmos itself was rising and falling.
Wait, if that’s the case, then just how powerful is this human now?
Suddenly, Lifeforce scattered from around Lu Yin, like clouds parting and fading away.
The stone monster froze. His Lifeforce disappeared? Doesn’t that mean that this human is about to die? Or completely fall back and just be an Aberrant?
At that moment, with another thunderous heartbeat, the stone monster’s own heart seemed to lurch, nearly bursting out and shattering its body.
Another surge of Lifeforce erupted from Lu Yin. It was endless, and it shot straight up, as though to open the nine heavens. It sent ripples out in all directions.
The stone monster stared up in shock. Is this a phenomenon?
There were legends that claimed that, when certain extraordinary creatures broke into the Immortal realm via a direct breakthrough, strange phenomena would occur. The stone monster had once been a scavenger and had encountered many civilizations, so it had heard of these legends before, but it had never witnessed an actual Immortal phenomenon before.
Just now, it had.
Lifeforce surged out like a sea, opening clouds across the cosmos. This was a phenomenon of lifeform undergoing a direct breakthrough into the Immortal realm. It was something that no one could forget after hearing about it, but it was also something that no one should ever expect to witness.
The Immortal stone monster was seeing it now.
At this moment, the stone monster swore that it had found its home.
Yes, this human civilization was its home. It would never leave.
The Lifeforce suddenly contracted and returned to Lu Yin’s body in an instant. It was as if it had never appeared.
Lu Yin exhaled, his breath like a cloud dragon. It crushed the void and froze time.
He released the Lifeforce that he had transformed from his Wielder-realm battle force and brought forth the Lifeforce that truly belonged to him and his new realm. Its power far surpassed what he had possessed before. His body, strength, and life itself had all transformed.
The physical body was the foundation that held up everything else. When it transformed, so did one’s overall power.
Having stepped into the Immortal realm, all of the powers that Lu Yin had previously cultivated were expanded.
At this moment, only the most important step remained before him: comprehending a cosmic law.
Only by aligning with a cosmic law could one truly step into the Immortal realm. An Immortal’s unseen world could be gradually cultivated through their understanding of their cosmic law, but the law itself had to be found during the initial breakthrough.
This might be a quick process, or it might take time.

In the Tianyuan Megaverse, Chu Songyun maintained the same posture, bleeding out as the Path of Dispassion flickered unstably.
He held that stance for the time an incense stick needed to burn. For that entire time, neither the Divine King nor Ni Bieluo dared to act.
In a war like this, a pause this long was unimaginable. The stronger the individual on the battlefield, the more clearly they felt the threat of the Path of Dispassion.
However, Chu Songyun was not Hong Shuang.
From the distance, a fierce wind swept through. Mister Mu tried to stop it, but a Godplume Spear shot at him, and he was forced to block it with the Cauldron.
The Godplume Spear struck the Cauldron and knocked Mister Mu back.
The gust swept over Chu Songyun. Still maintaining his same posture, he fell over. He was already unconscious.
Even unconscious, his body had still roused the power of the Path of Dispassion, maintaining a threat.
His body had been burnt black by the Path of Dispassion. The pain that he had endured was no less than cultivating the Path of Dispassion through self-forging.
He had not revealed even a single flaw.
The Divine King and Ni Bieluo had been forced to stay still, but Nan Ling was an exception. The ability to teleport meant that the bird feared no such power.
As Chu Songyun fell, the threat of the Path of Dispassion vanished.
The Divine King was enraged, feeling deceived, and it lashed out in fury.
Mister Mu gritted his teeth and pushed the Cauldron forward to confront the Divine King, only to be blasted back. The Tianyuan was completely exposed to the Divine King’s terrifying power. Zhao Ran’s small boat rocked violently as the time within the Tianyuan grew unstable. Whirlpools could be seen throughout the branch stream of the River of Aeons.
If not for the Divine King’s concern over increasing its karmic chain, the Tianyuan would have already been reset.
Even so, countless motes of light appeared outside the megaverse, each corresponding to a powerful human cultivator.
