Chapter 4490: Never To Rise Again

Ni Bieluo and Old Man Hehe suddenly looked over. There.

Death's Dominion slowly turned their head to see Lu Yin directing a faint smile their way.

“Impressive. I have to admit, I couldn’t withstand that surge of Stillness just now. But how many more attacks like that do you have left?” After speaking, Lu Yin kicked out, and his body passed straight through the skeleton’s neck, nearly knocking their head off.

When that torrent of Stillness surged towards him, Lu Yin had teleported away before it could arrive. He was not nearly foolish enough to directly clash against that sort of power. That power did not belong to Death's Dominion, but rather the Death Megaverse itself. It was no different from the reserves that lay beneath Joy City.

As expected, that Stillness was a life-saving method granted to the Abyss Lords by the Death Megaverse, and it approached the power of a three-law Immortal. Even if one could withstand such power, they would have to pay a price.

With teleportation available, why would Lu Yin take such an attack head-on?

“Hehe, how stifling,” Old Man Hehe commented, sounding delighted by Death's Dominion’s sudden misfortune.

Seizing that opportunity, Ni Bieluo hurled its trident in a sneak attack at Lu Yin, only for it to be swept away by the branch of the River of Aeons. “I said that I would not let you interfere, and I meant it.”

Ni Bieluo stared at Old Man Hehe. “You’re playing with fire.”

“Hehe.”

“Within the Aevum Inch, no being can be trusted except for one’s own kind. You are no exception. You are destined to be his enemy, so why help him?” Ni Bieluo warned.

“Hehe, we just made a deal.”

“Whatever you want, I can give it to you as well. That human cannot be allowed to live.”

“Hehe.”

Ni Bieluo was furious. This bastard!

Ni Bieluo was coming to hate those two syllables, “hehe.” They always sounded so mocking.

More than half of Death's Dominion’s massive body had broken apart now. Lu Yin repeated his strategy of injecting Lifeforce into the bones. He intended to see just how many times the skeleton could endure this cycle.

The black plaza had been broken, but it was still clenched in a skeletal hand. It still concealed an unknown amount of Stillness, and Lu Yin had to remain cautious.

“Human, I will withdraw,” Death's Dominion announced, their voice echoing across the cosmos.

Lu Yin looked up, but gave no answer. He continued to silently inject Lifeforce into the bones.

The skeleton shouted, “Human, do you intend to summon your own death?”

Lu Yin still ignored them.

They roared, “You will end up like Pan!”

Lu Yin abruptly stopped. He was not alone; everyone who heard those words looked over at the giant skeleton.

Pan was the name of humanity’s Wargod, a legend of the Nine Ramparts era who had vanished into history.

Lu Yin had brought that history back into light.

He had already learned of Pan’s legend, a man who had protected an entire direction for humanity with only his horse and passion. He had merely stated, “I’ll do it.”

Those few words had carried Pan to the peak, though only briefly.

“What did you say?” Lu Yin demanded in a low voice as he stared at the skeleton.

Death's Dominion’s massive skull drooped slightly. Their neck was already half shattered, and their body swayed. “If you truly insist on summoning death, you will face the same end as Pan. No one will be able to save you then!

“You are strong, human, I must admit. Even during the era of your Nine Ramparts, you would have dazzled an age, and you might have even contended for the position of Rampart Warden.

“But all of your Rampart Wardens died. Pan may have defended an entire direction on his own, slaughtering until the cosmos grew dim and Aevum Inch was stained with blood, and yet... he still died.

“Compared to Pan, you are too weak. You cannot possibly stop death.”

Lu Yin stared at the skeleton. “Pan?”

Zhang Sheng Si Ji continued, “A legend from your Nine Ramparts who was known as the Wargod. He defended an entire direction alone, possessing unimaginable power. At that time, I was not qualified to even approach him in battle. His strength far surpassed what you can even imagine, but do you know what his end was?

“He died, drained of all blood. He wanted to die on his feet, but I refused to allow it. Those humans climbed toward him, one by one, trying to grant him dignity, or perhaps to preserve the dignity of your civilization. But it was impossible. I forced them to step over the corpses of their companions, filling the abyss with their lives. They were stripped to the bone and then forced to dance wildly around Pan.

“That was the dance of our Death Megaverse, and its meaning is—” Death's Dominion paused for a moment, then slowly continued, ensuring that their voice echoed across the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, “‘Never to rise again.’”

Lu Yin’s face was as dark as still water as he listened in silence.

Most people in the Nine Odysseys Megaverse had never heard of Pan’s legend before, but the skeleton’s story still filled them with an overwhelming rage. It was as if something sacred to them had been trampled upon, something that they were bound to protect.

Green Lotus closed his eyes as he clenched a fist. His nails pierced his palm, and blood dripped down.

Master Qing Cao stared up at the sky. It was as if he were seeing that proud figure who insisted on standing even in death, surrounded by dancing skeletons, all of which were human. None of them had ever wished for such a fate, and yet they had not been able to change it. If they had kept their flesh, they would have been weeping.

The skeleton continued to say, “Do you know the most tragic part? Those humans wanted to struggle to collect Pan’s body and preserve his dignity, but in the end, they only performed our Death Megaverse’s dance, celebrating the fall of the one that they respected and wished to protect the most. That was Pan’s fate.

“Human, do you wish to suffer the same fate? In this human civilization, countless people will dance for you, and your people will never rise again.”

Lu Yin calmly stared at the giant skeleton. No hatred or even anger could be seen in his eyes, only a terrifying calmness.

Death's Dominion stared back, though deliberately avoiding Heaven’s Sight. They had no intention of being frozen by Crow Immobilization. “Human, do you understand? Pan’s fate will be yours. However, should I withdraw, death will not come for you. I will guarantee it—at least, not from me.”

Lu Yin’s calm eyes revealed cold indifference. They were so cold that no one dared to meet his gaze. “Thank you.”

The giant skeleton was stunned. “What did you say?”

Lu Yin smiled. “Thank you for letting me know the truth about that death dance. I learned of it long ago, but I didn’t know who was responsible for it. When you forced those people to dance as skeletons earlier, I became nearly certain that it was you, but I was not entirely sure. Now I know: it was you.

“Thank you... for giving me a chance to avenge my predecessors.”

Death's Dominion roared, “Avenge? That vengeance will cost you all your lives!”

“But you won’t see it.” Lu Yin’s gaze suddenly grew sharp, and killing intent surged as he vanished.

The giant skeleton was shocked, having no idea where Lu Yin would appear next.

He appeared right before the skeleton, directly ahead of them. He was practically standing on their nose as he threw a punch straight at the skull’s forehead.

They tilted their head while pulling back to dodge, but Lu Yin teleported behind the skeleton and struck again, shattering a shoulder.

Stillness was once again circulated through the massive bones, causing them to grow more resilient.

This time, Lu Yin did not inject any Lifeforce into the skeleton. He had decided to shatter the bones inch by inch, letting this creature feel the despair of a slowly approaching death.

You want to bring death? I will deliver it for you.

As for Ni Bieluo, it was no longer even considered. At this moment, the only creature that remained in Lu Yin’s eyes was Death's Dominion. Safety, timing—none of that mattered.

Bang.

Bang, bang.

Bang, bang, bang, bang.

Lu Yin kept silently teleporting all about, unleashing punch after punch. Each blow was delivered silently, at his full strength, and filled with overwhelming fury. Those scenes from the past were replaying in his mind again and again. Lu Yin saw the standing figure, the people crawling toward the corpse, their sacrifice to fill the abyss, and their fate to end up as dancing skeletons.

He could imagine the mockery they must have faced at that time. How many civilizations and how many powerful beings had laughed at them?

The thought was suffocating.

This skeleton had never even been worthy of facing Pan, and yet they had dared to humiliate him after his death. That thoroughly disgusted Lu Yin. He would shatter every last one of the skeleton’s bones, crushing it into dust.

Blow after blow fell. No matter how their Stillness circulated, Death's Dominion could not defend themself.

If one punch failed, then two more were thrown. If two failed, then three struck.

Teleportation meant that no one knew where Lu Yin would appear next. His power seemed endless.

The bones kept shattering as the skeleton let out a roar. They tried to retaliate but could not even find Lu Yin.

Even if they spread out the Stillness, they were unable to block even a single punch. But if Stillness was not released, Death's Dominion could only stand there and be beaten like a target.

Since becoming one of the great Abyss Lords of the Death Megaverse, they had never been so miserable before.

Ni Bieluo and the others watched on in shock. That was a peak two-law Immortal; were they really being dismantled in such a helpless manner?

Crack.

The massive body collapsed. One of the legs had completely shattered, which caused half of the body to tilt.

“Humaaan!” they roared as black light erupted from a skeletal palm. The Stillness pierced the cosmos as the shattered black plaza held in a hand erupted with a terrifying amount of Stillness for the third time.

The vast force of the Abyss surged upward, forcing Lu Yin to retreat.

He looked up, his eyes unspeakably cold. Still silent, he struck again.

The giant skeleton sat down cross-legged, moving their hands so that the palms faced each other. Within those hands, the shattered black plaza reformed. Endless Stillness spread out as dark light gradually covered the bones like a black curtain. It outlined the entire skeletal form, and the plaza spun between the palms before shattering again. The fragments scattered outward.

Lu Yin looked at the fragments, suddenly feeling uneasy.

He teleported, but only a short distance away. He could not leave entirely.

What is this? Lu Yin was surprised. This seemed similar to Hong Xia’s method that blocked teleportation, though Hong Xia had merged his divine energy with his red umbrella while Death's Dominion was using fragments of the black plaza and Stillness.

The Plume Immortals’ ability to teleport had been known for countless years, and many civilizations had sought ways to counter it. Some had succeeded, but the birds were arrogant, and they believed that their teleportation ability could not be countered.

In truth, even Hong Xia had been able to find a temporary solution. There was no way the Death Megaverse would not have done the same.

Lu Yin kept teleporting about, yet he was never able to fully escape. The black fragments filled the region that surrounded him.

As the skeletal palms closed upon each other, the countless fragments converged on Lu Yin. They formed a black crystal that sealed him inside.

Lu Yin was sealed, and vast amounts of Stillness surged into the crystal.

Dark sockets stared at Lu Yin. Death's Dominion was paying a terrifying price to use this move. Once they left, they would deliver death to this civilization. Humans, you are doomed!

With that thought, the skeleton turned and headed into the distance.
