Gao Tian was able to overcome the defensive limits of Extremes Must Be Reversed, or at the very least, the bird’s invisible slashes could.
However, that sharpness was not present in this latest attack.
Could it be...? Is this some kind of cosmic law or an unseen world that uses a cosmic law? Apparently, it can’t be used in conjunction with that invisible slashing attack.
Right, that invisible sharpness must be another kind of unseen world.
In front of Lu Yin, Gao Tian suddenly reappeared, its one eye still gray-white. It looks so... stupid.
Lu Yin instinctively tried to evade, but he failed. How was that possible?
This time, it attacked with a Godplume Spear, which pierced through Lu Yin’s body. Blood seeped from his new wound as he was hurled away.
Just as Gao Tian was about to strike again, karma descended: Karmic Heavenwheel. Green Lotus had made a move, his finger pointing at Gao Tian.
The bird raised its talons, easily catching the Karmic Heavenwheel. However, blood appeared as Green Lotus was also cut. However, he threw out another palm strike that forced Gao Tian back. After that, the man looked over. “Lu Yin?”
Lu Yin held a hand to his chest while staring at Gao Tian. “I’m fine, Senior. Step back. Leave this to me.”
“Have you seen it clearly?” Green Lotus asked.
Lu Yin continued to stare at Gao Tian. He still did not understand its attack, but he could not allow Green Lotus to fight Gao Tian. The Greater Sancte had already used far too much karma. While the destructive power from the law of Compression was indeed able to wound Gao Tian, that was only true if the attack landed and also only if Green Lotus could withstand those invisible slashes.
This time, only the man’s arm had been wounded, but next time, he might not be so fortunate.
When it came to Gao Tian, Green Lotus was at a severe disadvantage.
“Senior, leave this to me.” Lu Yin stepped forward. His body withered, and the armor plates of his Manifestation Beyond the Pupil surrounded him. He merged with the Nine Odysseys Megaverse and then slammed a massive palm down in an attempt to widen the distance.
However, teleportation rendered distance meaningless.
Gao Tian reappeared before Lu Yin, its eye still the same gray-white color. The bird’s appearance was followed by two loud blows; the first struck the armor plates, but the second hit Lu Yin. Even with Extremes Must Be Reversed improving his defenses as much as possible, that single blow still tore through him.
One of the cosmic laws that all Plume Immortals resonated with was All Paths Return to One. Their Godplume Spears were capable of piercing everything, and when used by Gao Tian, the attacks became nearly unsolvable.
Gao Tian shrieked, “Human, this power was intended to be used on Wang Wen! You should be honored to be worthy of it!”
After speaking, it vanished again by teleporting away.
This time, Lu Yin avoided looking at Gao Tian’s eye, and yet he was still struck. His body was struck again and again, and his blood splattered across the cosmos.
Green Lotus could not hold back and attacked again, but Gao Tian ignored him, merely teleporting away. Its only target was Lu Yin.
As another Godplume Spear struck, the Cauldron suddenly appeared. The spear struck it with a loud boom.
That impact snapped Lu Yin awake, and he suddenly understood: intelligence. Yes, it was intelligence. Gao Tian was actually stripping away his intelligence for an instant.
He stared at the bird. “Are you actually removing my intelligence?”
Gao Tian's voice turned cold. "Life exists through balance. Where there is strength, there must also be wisdom. Remove either one, and it ceases to be life and becomes nothing more than a dead thing.
"The moment your strength is restricted, your wisdom is stripped away as well. Human, so what if you've seen through it? Can you stop it?"
Green Lotus was astonished. Such a cosmic law exists?
However, compared to Hong Xia’s Absolute of No Absolutes, this cosmic law seemed relatively normal.
Lu Yin smiled. “Mangy bird, if your entire species is this stupid, things will be easy.”
He threw a straightforward punch.
Gao Tian’s gaze sharpened. Its talons viciously slashed at Lu Yin while its eye turned gray-white again.
The slash missed.
Gao Tian took Lu Yin’s punch to the face and was sent staggering back.
Lu Yin attacked again, only to be met with a Godplume Spear.
He immediately teleported away. The Godplume Spears were still troublesome.
Gao Tian gaped at Lu Yin. This human had entrusted his body to inertia. In other words, his punch had simply followed an established attack pattern that required no intelligence. His physical body had simply followed its own natural momentum.
Stripping intelligence was not enough to produce a decisive effect, but Lu Yin’s method would only work against Gao Tian’s talons, not the Godplume Spears.
When relying on inertia, his body could not respond to stimulus. If he was targeted by a Godplume Spear, he would undoubtedly be stabbed.
There was a soft cracking sound. Gao Tian’s beak was damaged.
Its killing intent instantly spiked. “Human, you deserve death!”
It teleported over Lu Yin and attacked with another Godplume Spear. Lu Yin knew that Gao Tian would begin relying solely on its Godplume Spears. His only options were to either continuously dodge by teleporting or break the bird’s cosmic law.
It took one law to counter another. Gao Tian was a three-law Immortal who had lived for ages. It did not believe that Lu Yin, who had just entered that realm, could counter it.
Green Lotus was very curious about what kind of cosmic law could elevate all of Lu Yin’s powers to such a terrifying level. Facing Gao Tian put true pressure on Green Lotus. The bird was a genuine ancient monster, and yet Lu Yin had managed to crack its beak and even break its talons. It was truly impressive.
Lu Yin stared at Gao Tian’s beak. “It’s cracked now, but if I land two more punches, will it shatter?”
Gao Tian suddenly vanished, reappearing right before Lu Yin while thrusting a Godplume Spear forward.
Lu Yin opened Heaven’s Sight: Crow Reversal.
Black lines appeared around Gao Tian, and the bird was spun around.
Its pupil shrank. This is bad! It’s that innate gift!
There was a crack. The bird tried to resist turning, but half its body still moved. Lu Yin seized that opportunity, again using Heaven’s Sight in an attempt to use Crow Immobilization, but Gao Tian was not Nan Ling. This Plume Immortal was not caught off guard by Lu Yin’s move. Helpless, Lu Yin could only throw a punch straight at its beak.
The punch landed directly. Being able to defend against Crow Immobilization under near-ambush conditions was already Gao Tian’s limit. It was not able to evade the follow-up strike. With half its body turned around, it could not even teleport.
The punch struck, and Gao Tian’s beak completely shattered. The lower half of its face was rendered a bloody mess. Feathers clung to flesh, and its scream grew hoarse with fury as it instantly vanished.
Lu Yin glanced at his fist and the blood clinging to it. He flicked the gore aside. “Mangy bird, run while you can. The next punch will smash your head in.”
A hoarse screech rang out in reply.
Lu Yin turned his head. Gao Tian had appeared above the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, its lone eye filled with venomous hatred. Only one wing flapped as blood continuously dripped from its body. Despite how miserable it looked, the bird’s presence filled everyone with unease. Gao Tian replaced the sky, standing above all beings. It looked like it was about to do something.
Lu Yin immediately moved to attack, only to run into countless Godplume Spears raining down upon him. Forced to pass through them, he had to use his Lifeforce to push the sequence strings aside to prevent the Nine Odysseys Megaverse from being reset. Ancestor Lu Yuan once again teleported people out of the way.
Looking back up, Gao Tian shrieked upwards. Its entire body radiated light that spread across the Nine Odysseys Megaverse and quickly extended across the Trio and past it, reaching unknown distances.
The sense of unease grew stronger. Lu Yin’s heart sank. Gritting his teeth, he moved again. No matter what Gao Tian intended to do, he would stop it.
This bird had been pushed to desperation. This was its true power.
What did a mortal feel when seeing the sun? Warmth? No—reverence. It was the terror of something that could devour everything. At this moment, that was the feeling that Gao Tian gave off.
It shone, replacing the sky, becoming the sky above all.
At this moment, Gao Tian fully displayed the might of a three-law powerhouse. Once, this power had been suppressed by Wang Wen. Gao Tian had been too afraid to even return home after being beaten so badly that even someone like Lu Yin, a new Immortal, could be bold enough to challenge the Plume Immortal.
“Sky Mending!” Gao Tian’s voice echoed into everyone’s ears.
Lu Yin moved closer, only to find that not even teleportation could take him closer.
In theory, it was easy to overcome the ability to teleport; one only needed to sever a teleporter’s connection to the Aevum Inch.
It was simple in theory, but it was extremely difficult to carry out. It was practically impossible to seal Gao Tian’s ability to teleport, but it was far easier for the Plume Immortal to seal Lu Yin’s ability. After all, Gao Tian resonated with three cosmic laws, far surpassing Lu Yin.
Ancestor Shan once said that teleportation was not an omnipotent power. Lu Yin now understood that.
He kept trying to approach Gao Tian, but the bird was as unreachable as the sun, its blinding light impossible to even face directly.
“The sky is flawed, and you will be the patch that mends it.” Gao Tian’s voice descended again. In an instant, the blinding light filling the megaverse focused solely on Lu Yin. He tried to move away, but he could not. Why not?
Just a moment ago, he had still been able to move, even if he had not been able to approach Gao Tian, but suddenly, he was unable to move at all. It was as if he had been bound by the light itself.
Gao Tian looked down from above, its single eye filled with contempt and authority. “If the sky collapses, all things will perish. You will mend it. My name is Gao Tian. Be grateful.”
As the words fell, Lu Yin was dragged toward Gao Tian by the light. Behind the bird, a gap could be seen within the region illuminated by that radiance. That missing piece had to be restored, and Lu Yin was to be used to fill it.
This was an unseen world.
Lu Yin clenched his fists and tried to break free, but he was currently facing Gao Tian’s full power as a three-law Immortal. This was a completely different level of power that Lu Yin could not easily touch.
Green Lotus attacked, but his efforts also proved useless. They were erased by the light and failed to even approach Gao Tian.
Lu Yin stared at the bird. This was undoubtedly its trump card, and it had surely been used against Wang Wen before, which meant that he had broken this ability. If not, Gao Tian would not have waited this long to use it against Lu Yin. It was clearly a struggle for the bird to use this.
Lu Yin merged with the megaverse, his vast form covering the Nine Odysseys Megaverse as he pressed down with a hand.
Tears of blood flowed from Gao Tian’s lone eye, the blood seeping beneath its feathers. Lu Yin was absolutely correct; this move consumed too much of the bird’s strength. When it had fought against Wang Wen, it had thought this move would assure its victory, but it had been broken, which had shaken its very understanding of its own cosmic law.
After many years, it had finally stabilized its mind, but it had never expected to use this move again, only for Lu Yin to force Gao Tian to do so.
With Sky Mending, either Lu Yin would die or Gao Tian would fall from the level of a three-law Immortal. It would lose all understanding of Sky Mending.
No, this man is not Wang Wen. He cannot break Sky Mending. That’s impossible.
Throughout the entire Aevum Inch, very few beings were capable of breaking this move.
