There was no way Kyle could allow them to witness the memories of the world he had endured.

Those memories would haunt him for eternity. He could never bring himself to force them upon the two women he cared about.

Instead, he decided to tell them what had caused these changes and why Ethan had become what he was. What had truly happened during those three days, however, he kept to himself. The truth was far too horrifying for them to bear.

His words might sound unbelievable, perhaps even like the desperate excuses of a liar. So Kyle decided to show them a glimpse of what he had experienced.

Only a glimpse.

He showed them how Veronica had been trapped, how Timothy had betrayed her, and how Amanda had been targeted.

He showed them the chaos Ethan caused at the Base, the way he tricked Hannah and drew Amanda out by cornering Melissa.

He showed them all the routes Ethan and the apostles picked to target those close to Kyle.

After regaining his Origin, reading the history of the world was no longer difficult for Kyle. He now understood exactly how Ethan and those mad gods had carried out their plans.

He knew how the apostles of certain deities had helped Ethan accomplish something that should have been impossible.

Targeting the main headquarters of the PSC.

Trapping the vice commander of the base.

Going against the Apostles of Odin.

Yes, those things should have been impossible for whatever creature had been residing within Ethan.

But Kyle deliberately kept most details concerning his Origin and the deities buried.

Not because he did not trust them.

Because some truths were better left unknown.

For their sake. For their mental state. For their safety.

When he finally finished speaking, silence was the only response he received.

Kyle did not press them.

He simply sat there and gave them the time they needed to comprehend everything he had revealed.

It was, naturally, an enormous revelation. The things Kyle had just shared were so unbelievable that almost no one would have accepted them, even if they had come from someone they trusted completely.

Amanda slowly processed everything before finally looking at him.

"So... Ethan conspired against you and trapped all of us with the help of the gods’ people?"

She had pieced together what she could from his explanation, and now the reason behind Kyle’s actions became clear.

For the first time, she understood why he had punished Ethan so severely, leaving him beyond any hope of recovery.

"And because you were devastated after our deaths, you eventually realized the source of strength behind your anomalous awakening. That allowed you to step into this place, am I right?"

Kyle nodded.

"More or less. I am currently providing more Genesis to the world through the cores. That’s why the number of rifts must have gone down significantly."

Veronica nodded immediately.

"It has. The drop was quite significant, as I remember. Everyone thought it was just a coincidence, but now we know that it wasn’t."

Amanda suddenly clutched Kyle’s collar.

"Wait. How long will it take you to finish supplying the Genesis? And does doing this somehow hurt you?"

Kyle just stared at her and then glanced at Veronica...it appeared they trusted his words without a moment of doubt. And that was quite surprising and yet expected.

He then shook his head.

"It won’t harm me, Amanda. And as for how long it will take... why should I leave this place when I can protect the world from here?"

Amanda’s eyes widened in alarm.

"You can’t mean to say you’re going to spend your entire life here."

Veronica quickly added, "You don’t have to make this sacrifice. Humanity has been dealing with these threats for years."

Kyle let out a weary sigh.

"Perhaps. But the level of threat is only going to increase from here on. My awakening has thinned the veil separating our world from the Knull, so it becomes even more necessary for me to remain here and..."

"No, it doesn’t."

Amanda cut him off without hesitation. There was an unmistakable conviction in her voice.

"We are leaving this place and returning to our normal lives. I won’t accept anything other than a yes."

She was rarely this demanding.

But right now, Amanda was being selfish and stubborn, and she had no shame about either.

Kyle leaned back in his seat before asking, "What do I lack here, Amanda? I can create whatever I wish, and you two can come back here whenever you want as well. Only you two are the exception whom no one would harm if you were to approach the Temple."

There was no attachment in his voice, nor any desire to leave this place.

That was what genuinely concerned Amanda. It even irritated her slightly.

Veronica finally spoke, her voice quieter.

"And this is the life you always wanted, Kyle?"

Kyle turned toward her, but Veronica continued before he could answer.

"I remember how you wanted to have a family of your own. You wanted to play games, visit different places, and simply enjoy the things you never had growing up. You were so excited about all of it once you were finally free from your family and had found a way to earn a living."

Veronica knew those dreams because Kyle had trusted her enough to share them. They were simple dreams, perhaps, but they had always held a special place in his heart.

Her words stirred something deep within him.

"You promised to marry me too."

Amanda voiced now.

"The date of our engagement... our rings... the banquet. There is still so much to plan. You can’t dump me now and believe I would let you go." She then turned to Veronica and added. "And you have a lot promised to her too. You can’t possibly thinking of abandoning us now."

Kyle fell silent seeing the two sharing an opinion he long expected before they even arrived.

Now, what should he do?
