[12:15 AM]

Amanda was wide awake, listening to Melissa’s soft, steady breathing. Her sister seemed completely asleep.

Carefully, she slipped out from beneath the covers, still dressed in the clothes she had worn during the day.

She would have used some perfume, but Melissa was rather sensitive to strong scents, so Amanda settled for chewing a mint instead. She slipped on her sandals, then quietly stepped out of the room.

The hotel lobby was almost completely silent. It was well past midnight, and being off-season this hotel wasn’t accomodating manyguests either.

Amanda made her way toward the elevator, unable to suppress her excitement at the thought of meeting the person she had been thinking about all day.

It had only been two days since they had parted ways, yet she was acting as though they were reuniting after years apart.

Click.

She pressed the elevator button and waited. The elevator was currently on the ground floor, its indicator slowly climbing toward her floor.

Just then, Amanda frowned.

She could have sworn someone was peeking at her from the fire exit.

"Is anyone there?" she called.

No response.

Amanda cautiously approached the door. She was certain she had seen someone walk through it moments ago.

Dhak.

She pushed the door open.

Silence greeted her.

There was no one there.

Sighing, Amanda stepped forward to inspect the staircase when suddenly, "Ah!"

A pair of arms wrapped around her waist.

Her body reacted before her mind could catch up. She drove her elbow backward, aiming straight for the intruder’s face.

Dhak.

The strike connected.

Yet the person barely flinched.

"Umm..."

The familiar voice made Amanda’s eyes widen.

She hurriedly lowered her arm. "Kyle? Oh my God, I hit you."

"Yeah, but I’m good," he assured her. "Though I have to admit, I’m impressed by how quickly you reacted."

Amanda shook her head, her back still facing him. "I hit you pretty hard. Are you really okay?"

"Yes. Go on, check me if you want."

He slowly released his hold.

Amanda promptly turned around and looked at his face.

She cupped his cheeks and gently tilted his head from side to side, carefully inspecting the spot where she had struck him.

His nose was slightly red, but thankfully, there was no blood. Amanda exhaled in relief before giving him an exasperated look.

"What’s the big idea of surprising me like this? Well, I don’t mind, but you shouldn’t sneak up on me like that."

Kyle looked genuinely confused. "You like the surprise, but you don’t want it to be entirely a surprise. Should I drop a few hints while still keeping things vague?"

Amanda nodded with a giggle. "Exactly."

She wrapped her arms around his neck and said, "I thought we decided to meet at the restaurant you mentioned?"

Kyle nodded. "I thought, why not save some time while I was free?"

Amanda pouted, her eyes narrowing at him.

Kyle gave her a helpless smile before adding, "And, of course, I missed you."

He placed his hands around her waist once again and murmured, "How have you been? Did your mother scold you too much?"

Amanda nodded, then shrugged. "She was worried about me and kept asking where I had been. But since I’ve always been a good girl, she forgave me."

"Good girl, huh?" Kyle repeated, a teasing smile spreading across his face.

Amanda immediately grabbed his collar and gave it a little tug. "I didn’t like the sound of that. You don’t think I’m a good girl?"

Kyle hummed thoughtfully. "You can be a good girl, but I like the bad one just as much."

Amanda finally smiled, satisfied with his answer, before inching closer until she stopped just short of his lips.

Looking into his deep golden eyes, she murmured, "I like you too. Every version of you."

Kyle leaned forward, closing the final distance between them.

Her arms tightened around his neck, her head tilting slightly as she deepened the kiss, feeling her body gradually relax in his embrace.

Their lips met in a slow, unhurried kiss. A soft giggle escaped Amanda when he gently pressed her back against the guardrail.

The warmth of the moment was soon interrupted when Kyle pulled away and quietly said, "Someone is approaching. Let’s head downstairs first."

Amanda groaned. Just when things were getting good, someone had to come along and ruin the moment.

As they stepped through the fire exit, Kyle glanced at her. "Are you sure it’s fine to leave her alone? Melissa isn’t very good with unfamiliar places, right?"

Amanda nodded. "Yeah, which is why I left her a message. I told her that if she doesn’t find me in the room, she should wait until six in the morning. I’ll be back by then. Naturally, if there’s an emergency, she’ll call me immediately."

Kyle hummed in understanding as they entered the elevator.

Amanda slipped her arm around his and glanced at the floor he had selected. Her brows rose in confusion.

"The third floor? Are we meeting someone here?"

She had assumed they would go somewhere to eat first and then spend some time wandering around together.

Instead, Kyle calmly answered, "I’ve already booked a room for us. Why waste time searching for a good place when we can stay right here?"

Amanda’s face immediately brightened into a wide smile. "Ah, why didn’t I think of that myself?"

Then her expression turned slightly concerned.

"But Kyle, the charges here are pretty high, aren’t they? Do you want me to send you some more funds?"

She had sent him around two thousand lumir the last time. Considering his travel expenses and everything else, he must have been running low by now.

"No, I’m fine," Kyle assured her. "I can manage things for now. But, of course, if I need any help, I’ll ask you."

Amanda grinned. "Thank you."

Soon, the elevator doors parted, and the two lovebirds stepped into the hallway before making their way toward their room.

Amanda slipped her hand into his pocket and gave him a mischievous wink before pulling out the black card.

Tap.

The lock clicked, and the door swung open.

The moment they stepped inside, Amanda turned and pressed him against the wall, capturing his lips in a sudden, eager kiss.

Kyle wrapped his arms around her and held her close, his fingers slipping beneath the hem of her top to brush against the warmth of her skin, drawing a soft gasp from her.

He gently kissed the corner of her lips, then her cheek, before trailing down to the base of her neck.

Amanda moaned, her fingers threading through his hair as she pulled him closer.

However, Kyle suddenly paused and looked at her. "Have you forgotten something, Amanda?"

Amanda hummed questioningly, her brows drawing together for a moment before realization dawned on her.

"Ah... right. The blessing." He had mentioned it during their phone call.

A small smile appeared on Kyle’s face.

Without warning, he scooped her into his arms, lifting her effortlessly before carrying her toward the bathroom.

"Let’s freshen up first," he said. "It’s been a while since I’ve blessed someone."
