Stripping For My Devil Ex Husband

Chapter 111: The Devil’s EX Got Plans

Four days ago, inside a lavish private penthouse overlooking the city harbor, Vivian Stark stood by the floor-to-ceiling glass, swirling red wine in a crystal glass. The penthouse belonged to Dante Sullivan... luxurious, fortified, and untouchable by local authorities.

With Dante’s underground syndicate and immense resources backing her, Vivian wasn’t running scared in the shadows anymore. She had power, protection, and a dangerous new patron.

The encrypted satellite phone on the marble counter began to ring. Vivian picked it up leisurely, pressing it to her ear.

"Dad?" Vivian spoke, her tone cool and unbothered. "What is it?"

"Vivian, where the hell are you?!" Harrison Stark’s panicked voice roared through the receiver. "I was trying to save you! I spent millions bribing the prosecutors to get you into a private clinic under the excuse of a mental breakdown! You were supposed to spend six months resting and walk away with a clean record!"

Vivian took a slow sip of her wine, completely unfazed. "And why are you shouting at me?"

"Because Clara Reed ruined everything!"

Harrison snapped furiously.

"She walked into the central police station this afternoon and handed over official phone records, bank transfers, and a sworn statement proving you paid that thug to attack her in the alley. Prosecutors tore up our case immediately. An arrest warrant has been signed. You are an official fugitive, Vivian! If the police find you, you’re going away for twenty years!"

Vivian lowered the wine glass, her lips curving into a cold, dark smirk.

"Let the police search," Vivian said calmly. "I don’t need your corrupt deals or your fake sanitarium, Dad. I have far more powerful allies now."

She hung up without waiting for his answer, tossing the phone carelessly onto the sofa.

Her father thought she was finished, but with Dante Sullivan’s syndicate behind her, the police were merely an inconvenience. Still, the sheer audacity of an ordinary marketing team leader daring to sign a statement against her ignited a venomous spark in her chest.

"Clara Reed..." Vivian murmured, her eyes gleaming with icy malice as she looked out over the city lights. "You think you can play the hero and walk away untouched? Let’s see how brave you are when I take away your breath."

The next evening, Clara walked slowly down the sidewalk toward her apartment building. Her shoulders ached from carrying her heavy work laptop, but for the first time in weeks, the knot of guilt in her chest had loosened.

Her statement was filed. She had done the right thing.

As she reached the building’s driveway, her eyes drifted across the street to the spot under the lamppost where Julian’s sports car usually waited.

The space was completely empty.

Clara pulled her coat tighter against the cool evening air, letting out a quiet sigh.

Good, she told herself. It’s better this way.

She knew how dangerous men like Julian Montgomery could be. Years ago, in college, she had fallen for a man who acted sweet, charming, and attentive, only to find out he was using her and cheating behind her back.

That heartbreak had taught her a painful lesson... charming men were never safe.

Julian was even worse... he was a filthy-rich billionaire playboy who had a new woman on his arm every month. Pursuing an ordinary, hardworking woman like her was just a novelty, a fun game to boost his ego.

She knew that the moment the thrill wore off, he would get bored and toss her aside. It was better for him to give up now before she ended up getting hurt again.

Pushing the thought out of her head, Clara pulled her keys out of her pocket, unlocked the front glass doors of the lobby, and rode the elevator up to the fifth floor.

The hallway was dead silent.

She walked down the carpeted floor to unit 504 and slid her key into the lock. It clicked open smoothly.

Clara pushed the door open, stepped into the dark entryway, and reached her right hand out to flick on the wall switch.

Before her fingers could touch the plastic, a large, gloved hand lunged out from behind the door.

A heavy rag soaked in a harsh, chemical liquid slammed over her mouth and nose.

Clara’s eyes stretched wide in pure panic. She swung her heavy laptop bag backward, slamming it into the attacker’s body, and kicked wildly with her heels. Her screams were trapped inside her throat, completely smothered by the thick cloth.

She clawed desperately at the man’s wrists, but the stranger had an iron grip, pinning her against his chest.

The burning, sweet chemical fumes rushed down her throat and filled her lungs.

Within five seconds, her vision blurred into spinning gray dots. Her hands lost all their strength, and her heavy bag hit the floor with a dull thud. Her knees turned to water.

As her eyes rolled back into darkness, the operative picked up her limp body and dragged her silently out through the back fire exit, vanishing into the awaiting syndicate van below.

"I’m so sorry, Valerie," Ana whispered, her voice cracking under the crushing weight of the truth. "I lied to you."

Valerie’s jaw tightened, her brows knitting together in sharp disbelief. "Lied about what, Anastasia? What have you done?"

With trembling fingers, Ana pulled her phone from her pocket and unlocked the screen. Without a word, she hit play on the muted video and held it out.

Valerie looked down.

The color drained completely from her face. She watched the dark, flickering footage... Clara bound to the rusted iron chair, gagged, bruised, and bleeding... followed by the chilling, distorted ultimatum flashing across the screen.

"Oh god..." Valerie pressed a hand over her mouth, her eyes wide with sheer terror. "Clara..."

"They took her because of me, Valerie," Ana choked out, tears finally spilling over her cheeks. "Vivian and whoever is backing her... they’re using Clara as bait. The text just told me to go through the kitchen back door. A car is waiting in the alley. If I don’t get in that sedan right now, they are going to kill her."

Valerie’s instincts flared. She reached for her own phone in a flash. "I’m calling Damian. We have four guards right outside..."

"No!" Ana lunged forward, grabbing Valerie’s wrist in a desperate, white-knuckled grip. "Look at the message! If Damian’s men make a single move, if they even sniff the perimeter, she dies before I can reach her! Clara has nobody else, Valerie. She protected me in that alley, she took the hit, and I cannot let her be murdered because of Damian’s war!"

Valerie stared at Ana, caught in a suffocating crossfire.

She was Sterling... She knew the brutal rules of their world, and she knew the terrifying wrath Damian would unleash if anything happened to Ana. But looking into Ana’s raw, tear-streaked eyes, Valerie saw a woman ready to walk into hell just to save an innocent life.

Valerie exhaled a shaky breath, her mind racing.

"You’re out of your mind," Valerie whispered, her voice trembling. "Damian is going to tear this city apart."

"Please," Ana begged. "Just give me a chance to save her."

Valerie didn’t answer immediately. Instead, she reached for her left wrist, unbuckling the slim, rose-gold luxury smartwatch linked directly to Northwood’s private server grid.

Grabbing Ana’s trench coat, Valerie shoved the watch deep into the inner hidden seam of the lining.

"You don’t take that off," Valerie ordered, her voice dropping into a fierce, commanding whisper. "It has an active satellite GPS ping. You go out that kitchen door, but the second your car turns the corner, I am calling Damian and giving him your live coordinates."

Ana’s breath hitched in gratitude. "Valerie..."

"Go!" Valerie hissed, pushing her toward the rear staff exit. "I’ll go back to the table, order extra pastries, and stall Marcus and the guards for fifteen minutes. If you get killed, Damian will murder me anyway. Move, Ana!"

Ana nodded fiercely, wiping her tears with the back of her hand. She slipped through the swinging service door into the bustling, noisy kitchen, keeping her head low as she slipped past the busy cooks and pushed open the heavy metal back door.

The cold alley air hit her face.

Waiting directly across the narrow asphalt corridor was an idling black sedan with heavily tinted windows, its rear door already clicking unlocked.

Inside a windowless, concrete basement beneath the abandoned docks, the air was rank with rust, sea salt, and old blood.

A single, bare halogen bulb dangled from the ceiling, casting harsh shadows across the floor.

Clara Reed hung from an overhead pipe by heavy iron chains locked around her wrists. Her tailored office attire had been torn away, leaving her shivering violently in only her dark tights and a torn, blood-stained undershirt.

Dark purple contusions covered her ribs, her split lip dripping fresh crimson down her chin, and her swollen right eye could barely open.

Footsteps clicked rhythmically against the concrete.

Vivian Stark stepped into the circle of light, wearing a tailored cream trench coat, completely untouched by the filth around them. In her gloved hand, she held the burner phone that had just broadcast the hostage video to Anastasia.

Clara slowly lifted her head, every breath rattling agonizingly against her bruised chest.

"Vivian..." Clara choked out, her voice shredded and raw. "Why... Why are you calling Ana?"
