The gate to the ruined temple, barely held together by two old wooden planks, creaked in the wind and rain.
Six figures clad in Heavy Armor stepped into the temple. Rainwater slid down the edges of their cold armor, splattering onto the ground and creating murky puddles.
These people surrounded a figure—a young man of seventeen or eighteen, handsome and with an extraordinary air.
At his side, a maidservant in a green dress followed closely.
"Young Master, there’s no other shelter from the rain in this wilderness. Should we make do here for the night?"
The maidservant looked to be about eighteen years old, with an oval face and a pearl hairpin in her hair.
As she spoke, her eyes swept over their surroundings, and she whispered to the young man beside her.
The young man nodded slightly, looking inside the ruined temple.
The scene that met his eyes was one of utter decay. Cobwebs crisscrossed everywhere, a thick layer of dust covered everything, and a musty smell emanated from the corners.
However, upon seeing the people in the corner,
his brow furrowed instantly, a flash of disgust in his eyes.
"It seems we can only stay here for now.
But there are too many vagrants here. They’re an eyesore. Make them all leave."
"Yes, Young Master."
Seeing this, the green-skirted maidservant took a light, graceful step forward.
She looked at the crowd.
Tilting her head up slightly, her voice was clear and crisp, yet held an undeniable authority.
"Everyone, my apologies.
My young master plans to rest here for a while. Please do us the favor of moving elsewhere."
The moment the maidservant’s voice fell, a cold sneer echoed from one side of the ruined temple.
Then, a burly man from among the Darts Masters shot to his feet, slamming the hilt of his large saber onto the ground.
"Where did this little brat come from, acting so high and mighty! It’s pouring rain out there and pitch black. Where do you expect us to go? You don’t own this ruined temple, so on what grounds should we, who were here first, make way for you!"
His voice wasn’t loud, and with the roaring wind and rain, it sounded muffled and indistinct.
"Oh? It seems you have an objection."
Hearing this, the green-skirted maidservant sneered.
Her slender brows shot up, and a fleeting trace of Evil Energy flashed across her face.
In an instant, she stomped her foot hard on the ground.
Her figure shot out like a phantom, becoming a blur that crossed four or five meters in the blink of an eye, landing steadily in front of the man who had spoken.
Immediately after, she swung her delicate hand, her palm striking out with a vicious, whistling wind.
The man’s expression changed drastically.
He had no time to draw his Long Saber. In his panic, he could only thrust the sheathed weapon horizontally in front of him, trying to block the fierce attack.
"THUD!"
The heavy, muffled explosion echoed through the ruined temple, making everyone’s eardrums ache.
Judging by size alone, the man was easily twice as big as the maidservant, but the moment her palm connected, the immense difference in strength was on full display.
The man felt an overwhelming force, like a mountain crashing down on him, and his body trembled violently, out of his control.
He spat out a mouthful of blood and was sent flying back more than two meters, like a kite with a broken string.
He landed heavily in a puddle formed by a leak in the roof, sending up a large splash of murky water.
The green-skirted maidservant took a step forward, about to make another move.
「Suddenly.」
A black shadow flashed from the crowd, swooping down like a hawk on a rabbit, bringing with it a sharp Sword Light as it chopped down from above.
The green-skirted maidservant’s eyes shifted.
「In an instant.」
She tapped her foot lightly, spun to the side, and her hand shot out like lightning. With a whistling sound, a ball of energy surged from her palm, blasting straight toward the black shadow.
BANG—
A loud bang accompanied the explosion of energy.
The blast shook dust from the temple’s rafters, and a wave of air rushed outward.
The green-skirted maidservant stood her ground, only the hem of her dress fluttering slightly.
In contrast, Wu Yidao’s face was flushed red. He stumbled back several steps before managing to steady himself, his saber nearly flying from his grasp.
Forcibly suppressing the tide of blood and qi churning within him, his expression was full of shock and uncertainty.
"Inner Energy?"
’Only a master capable of projecting their Inner Energy could block my Long Saber with their bare hands like that.’
’However, her Inner Energy feels somewhat unstable, almost like Inner Breath. She probably hasn’t fully advanced to the Inner Qi Realm yet. She must be a Half-step Inner Qi Realm Martial Artist.’
’Even so, that’s still astonishing.’
’Her Inner Breath is already converting into Inner Energy. It’s only a matter of time before she enters the Inner Qi Realm.’
’A master who has reached the Inner Qi Realm is treated with respect no matter where they go.’
’And this woman before me is so young.’
Thinking of this,
Wu Yidao couldn’t help but recall Hu Qi. He was also exceptionally talented, having entered the Inner Qi Realm at a young age.
For a moment, Wu Yidao felt the whole situation was absurd. He even began to question his life.
’How on earth do these people cultivate?’
’On a normal day, meeting a master of this caliber is as difficult as ascending to heaven.’
’But now, I’ve met two of them at once, and both are so young.’
’Could it be that I’m really just trash?’
Just then, the dozen or so Darts Masters behind him reacted. With a CLANG CLANG CLANG of metal on metal, they all drew the Long Sabers from their waists.
But the next moment,
Wu Yidao raised a hand to stop them.
He turned his head to look at the maidservant and the young master.
"My apologies! My brother here had a bit too much to drink and got muddle-headed. He spoke without thinking. I hope you can be magnanimous and forgive him."
"Our meeting today must be fate. The rain is getting heavier, so why don’t we each take a step back? We’ll make some room, and we can all squeeze in together to get through this stormy night."
As Wu Yidao spoke, he shot a look at the men beside him, signaling them to help the wretched-looking man out of the puddle.
