In the sky, a fine, drizzling rain fell like silver threads.
Raindrops fell upon the massive bubble.
Yet they passed straight through without any obstruction, not stirring a single ripple.
On the street, the occasional pedestrian hurried past, completely oblivious to the strange bubble.
Two brawny, heavily-built hooligans with their arms slung over each other’s shoulders, covered in black tattoos, even swaggered right through the bubble and the seven figures within, yet remained utterly unaware.
It was as if these figures and the passersby existed in completely different dimensions, beings from two separate worlds.
Before long, the seven figures inside the bubble gradually solidified. They were men and women, old and young, and their clothing was vastly different from that of the residents of Iron Rock Star, making them look completely out of place.
Among the seven, only five were conscious.
They were a girl in a Lolita dress, a middle-aged man in a suit, a young man with a buzz cut wearing a black tank top, and a man and woman who seemed to be a couple.
After appearing inside the bubble, these people showed no signs of panic, nor did they attempt to move.
Instead, they calmly began to survey their surroundings.
The remaining two lay on the ground, apparently having fainted and not yet woken up.
"Oh? How pitiful. To think there are two newcomers in a Seven-Star difficulty mission world! And from the looks of it, they’re destined to be cannon fodder."
A clear, crisp voice suddenly rang out, laced with undisguised mockery.
The speaker was the girl in the Lolita dress. She stood to the side, her head tilted slightly, her gaze fixed on the two unconscious newcomers nearby. The corners of her mouth lifted into a meaningful smile.
One of the newcomers was a pot-bellied, balding middle-aged man. His round stomach bulged prominently, straining the fabric of his shirt.
The other was a woman in a supermarket uniform, about fifty years old. Her simple clothes and somewhat weary face told the story of a hard life.
Clearly, this time’s newcomers were just ordinary people.
And by the looks of it, their physical condition wasn’t much to speak of either.
Hearing the girl’s words, the others turned their heads, their gazes sweeping coldly over the two newcomers.
Their eyes were ice-cold, devoid of the slightest trace of sympathy, as if the two unconscious people were nothing more than insignificant ants.
And in fact, that was the truth.
In an ordinary world, a newcomer might have a slim chance of survival. But in a Seven-Star difficulty world, their survival rate was practically zero.
Not only was this place filled with unknown dangers and lurking crises, but more terrifyingly, newcomers were often used as cannon fodder by the veterans.
They would be sent to test out traps and dangers on the path ahead, likely dying without ever knowing why.
"Minna, don’t be so harsh. They are our teammates, after all. I don’t want to hear you speak like that again."
At that moment, the middle-aged man in the suit looked up.
He had a refined face and wore a pair of gold-rimmed glasses. His suit was impeccably pressed, without a single wrinkle, and every movement he made was graceful.
He looked at the girl in the Lolita dress and spoke calmly.
His voice was gentle, but to Minna, it was no different from a Demon’s smile, and a chill ran down her spine.
"Yes, yes, you’re right, Captain Xu Shu!"
Minna forced a cute smile.
Inwardly, however, she sneered.
’A smiling tiger.’
’Anyone who could become a captain was bound to be ruthless. Compared to him, her own cruelty was child’s play.’
’From the looks of it, these two newcomers probably won’t even know how he had toyed with them before they died.’
"Wang Xiang, what’s the situation?"
The middle-aged man, Xu Shu, asked after scanning their surroundings, turning his gaze to the buzz-cut man beside him.
"If my guess is correct, this should be the protagonist’s location from the novel.
Lower City F District on Iron Rock Star.
The scene here is almost identical to the novel’s description. Going by the Book Spirit’s usual habits, the mission’s timeline should be set during the protagonist’s initial phase. However, we’ll need to wait for the mission to start to investigate the specific details..."
The young man with the buzz cut replied.
He was only in his twenties and wore a strange, colorful monocle over his right eye. Lines of data flowed and refreshed across the lens like a stream, as if he were scanning and analyzing the environment.
Hearing this, Xu Shu nodded.
He gazed at the street in the distance, lost in thought.
The others did the same.
In front of them all,
on the surface of the bubble, was a string of numbers.
[28:51]
As time passed,
the number 51 was steadily decreasing.
When the timer reached zero, they would fully enter this world.
Time passed quickly, and when the timer above reached 10:11,
two successive cries of alarm rang out.
Their gazes shifted.
The two newcomers who had fainted were waking up.
"It took them nearly twenty minutes to wake up. Talent like that is no different from being trash..."
The buzz-cut man looked over.
Data streamed across his lens.
On it was the physical data of the two.
"No need to be nervous, you two! As for why you’re here, just think back carefully. The Book Spirit should have already implanted the information in your minds!"
Xu Shu stepped forward with a smile.
"Do you have any idea who I am? How dare you kidnap me! I’ll make you regret this! You little brat... Urk..."
