Strongest Hammer God

Chapter 1102: Immortal Darkness

As Red entered the Law Well, he felt his Energy dropping. The corroding effects of Major Darkness were not to be underestimated, and Immortal Darkness was even more dangerous.

'It doesn't feel alive,' Kyle thought as he sensed the corroding darkness, 'but that doesn't mean much. I haven't even properly looked at it yet. Let's see how it reacts to my perception.'

Compared to Auspicious Starsky, Kyle could control his perception much better. At this moment, the Immortal Darkness felt mildly dangerous. Kyle decided to ignore the Immortal Darkness' threat. He knew that he wasn't truly in danger since he could just leave whenever he wanted.

The feelings of danger vanished, and in response...

Kyle's Energy dropped even faster than before. In fact, if he weren't a Unique Ascendant already, he might have already died.

Nevertheless, Kyle remained inside the Law Well, and his Energy kept dropping rapidly.

When his Energy was lowered to 20% of its maximum, he took the situation seriously and flew towards the edge of the Law Well. After all, if he kept staying here, he would die.

Teleportation wasn't possible since Immortal Darkness stabilized the surrounding space.

But then, Kyle noticed that his Avatar couldn't fly out of the Law Well. It was like the Law Well was expanding endlessly.

'That means there's some kind of fuckery going on. I probably can't trust my own perception anymore. Maybe that's how Immortal Darkness interacts with perception. Not sure if all of the Immortal Elements interact with perception in some way, but it's possible that Immortal Darkness does. While I feel like I'm flying forward, I might actually be flying in circles.'

While Kyle was analyzing Immortal Darkness, he ordered Black to move away from the World Floor.

As Black left the vicinity of the World Floor, the Primordial Forces around him stabilized, allowing Kyle to build a spatial connection between Red and Black. Now, he could tell where Red was in relation to Black.

'As expected, space is distorted,' Kyle thought. 'Red is just flying in circles.'

Red locked onto Black and changed his trajectories in accordance with the perceived distance between the two Avatars.

Red flew forwards, backward, upwards, downwards, left, and right in a chaotic mess of movements. From Red's perspective, it looked like Red was just moving in random directions, but from Black's perspective, it looked like Red was moving directly towards him.

Mere moments after Kyle had established the connection between the two Avatars, Red shot out of the Law Well.

Red's Energy refilled almost immediately, and Red turned back to look at the Law Well.

'Without another Avatar, it's almost impossible to get out. Even more, the rate at which my Energy dropped was crazy. After all, I have a ridiculous amount of Energy.'

'I knew that Law Wells for Immortal Elements would be dangerous, but this is too much. You essentially need to be a Fulfilled Ascendant to even get a chance at experiencing Immortal Darkness.'

'There has to be an easier way.'

Red entered the Law Well once again, and his Energy started to lower.

'Last time, the drain on my Energy intensified when I thought that Immortal Darkness wasn't dangerous. Let's try the opposite.'

Moments later, Red's aura grew unstable as Kyle dove into the feeling of being slowly consumed by corroding Energies. This was similar to the time when Kyle had accepted the feeling of asphyxiation while trying to become a Unique Sage.

He opened his heart to the feeling. He thought about his goals and how it would feel to lose his entire future.

Terror entered his existence, and in response...

The corroding effects of Immortal Darkness weakened. In fact, they weakened so much that Kyle's regeneration outsped the corrosion. He was recovering Energy instead of losing it.

This short realization gave Kyle a feeling of safety, which translated into Immortal Darkness gaining back its power.

Kyle dove back into the feeling, and the corroding effects weakened again.

'So, it's the opposite of Immortal Earth. Instead of realizing my image, it negates it. When I feel it's dangerous, it's safe. When I feel it's safe, it's dangerous. This is how it interacts with my perception. However, there's another way it interacts with my perception.'

Kyle remembered how he hadn't been able to get Red out of the Law Well without using Black as reference.

This time, Kyle threw caution to the wind and charged towards the center of the Law Well, and moments later...

He reached the edge of the Law Well.

'As expected, it negates my perception,' Kyle thought. 'If you want to enter, you go out. If you want to leave, you go further in. If you just want to be somewhere inside it, you will be somewhere inside it. You can't really negate neutrality.'

'Although it can control my perception, it can't act upon all aspects of it. It can control its domain by burning its Energy, but it can't control me directly. My power remains the same, no matter what I think of it. It can only control the world around me while I'm inside its vicinity.'

Kyle analyzed the way Immortal Darkness manipulated reality and noticed that it wasn't fully stabilizing the Primordial Forces.

'If I hadn't familiarized myself with the Primordial Forces, I wouldn't have realized this as quickly. The Immortal Darkness' corruption is not truly acting like Major Darkness' corruption. While it stabilizes a big part of space, it is also using my insights into space to manipulate it. This weakens its power, but it just burns more Energy in response.'

Armed with his new knowledge, Red exited and entered the Law Well several times. He had to keep reminding himself that he shouldn't feel safe, which was strange. After all, with every realization came more knowledge, which allowed him to make a more informed decision, increasing safety.

Eventually, Red pulled out his hammer and swung it once.

The swing tore through reality, pushing the Immortal Darkness Energy into the distance for just a moment. Sadly, Kyle's strike wasn't strong enough to truly disperse the Immortal Darkness.

'I can see the way Immortal Darkness is warping space when I strike it,' Kyle thought as Red glanced at the fluctuations of reality. 'Additionally, the more I disperse it, the weaker it becomes.'

'I wouldn't say that darkness is the opposite of earth, but Immortal Darkness kind of acts like the opposite of Immortal Earth. Fighting the Immortal Earth figures is a horrible idea, which might quickly end your life, but if you do that here, it helps you survive.'

'To survive, the best thing to do is to feel like you're in a True Battle with the Immortal Darkness.'

'I wonder, which one is more dangerous, Immortal Earth or Immortal Darkness?'

'Actually, I'm not quite sure.'
