Strongest Hammer God

Chapter 1122: Relinquishing Control

The storm of Energy stretched across the entire world. Even almost all of the Mortals noticed that something tremendous was happening. Yet, only the stronger Seekers knew what this storm of Energy represented.

Someone was becoming an Immortal.

Someone had actually done it. Someone had actually managed to become an Immortal!

The oldest Seekers felt nervous and relieved at the same time. They had seen a desolate world when they had ascended to Ayuvar, and they had always kept that picture in the back of their minds. What if the cause of this desolation returned? What if the world was destroyed again?

They hoped that it wouldn't happen again.

The Overseer and Kyle waited as Swamp Dragon advanced. The advancement took several minutes, which felt like an eternity to them. It was strange how thousands of years could pass in the blink of an eye while minutes could feel like a thousand years.

Eventually, the storm of Energy vanished, and moments later, Swamp Dragon appeared beside Black and the Overseer, assuming a neutral position.

Swamp Dragon's aura...

It was so... average. It was mundane.

Swamp Dragon was one of the very few who hadn't condensed an Avatar. Additionally, his Laws were not special. He fulfilled the basic requirements for undergoing Fusion, and that was it.

Swamp Dragon was most likely within the bottom 1% of Immortals when it came to power.

Kyle could already see Swamp Dragon's body distorting. Ayuvar had noticed the presence of a human Immortal, and it had asked the Supreme World to pull Swamp Dragon out of Ayuvar.

In a couple of seconds, Swamp Dragon would ascend.

Swamp Dragon glanced at Kyle for a moment before focusing on the Overseer. He wasn't surprised when he saw Sebastian right in front of her.

"It's over," Swamp Dragon transmitted to the Overseer. "There is only one thing you can do to save yourself. Every other path leads to death."

The Overseer's Energy tightened around Sebastian and Melanie, but Swamp Dragon didn't seem perturbed.

"I do not value their lives highly," Swamp Dragon transmitted. "You have two seconds. If you don't do the right thing, I will kill you."

Frustration and rage rampaged through the Overseer's existence. Yes, soft power had an effect on Kyle, but it didn't have an effect on Swamp Dragon. Swamp Dragon had sacrificed his companions and even the world to get rid of her. There was no way he wouldn't sacrifice these two.

The Overseer's frustration reached its peak. She wanted to find a way out! She just wanted to get out of this world! She only wanted freedom and a future!

And then, all of her frustration vanished, replaced by acceptance.

Yes, it was over.

The world around them underwent a subtle change. It was like the world's Laws and Energies had changed the way they moved. Instead of supporting the Overseer, they were now supporting Swamp Dragon.

Calling her the Overseer was no longer accurate at this point. After all, she had just handed her position to Swamp Dragon.

Now, she was just a beast that wanted to be human.

Swamp Dragon's body stopped distorting as the world accepted him as its new Overseer.

They had done it. The Overseer was no longer the Overseer.

Yet, Kyle knew that she was still very dangerous. If she recovered her Energy, she could still kill them. Of course, the Overseer knew that as well, and she also knew that Kyle wouldn't allow her to recover Energy.

Even at this very moment, Kyle could still kill Swamp Dragon and the Overseer, but it would still mean that Sebastian and Melanie would die with them.

Everyone waited and remained silent. They didn't know what Swamp Dragon was planning, but they had a couple of guesses.

"We need to wait for five minutes," Swamp Dragon said.

Kyle didn't look at Swamp Dragon. He just kept focusing on the human fox in front of him.

Yet, the human fox didn't do anything. She just waited.

"What happens now?" the human fox asked.

"I can't tell you," Swamp Dragon answered. "The decision is no longer in my hands."

Sebastian glanced at Black, but when Black looked back, Sebastian just looked to the side.

Even though he had sworn not to, he had still gotten in Kyle's way.

When Kyle saw Sebastian like this, he just sighed. It was difficult for him to make sense of these confusing and chaotic emotions.

Sebastian had had a hand in killing him, but it wasn't really him. At the same time, he was still alive, and he had become much stronger. Even more, Sebastian knew that Kyle would return, but that also didn't really mean that the old Kyle had returned. Without Sebastian, Kyle wouldn't have entered the Gate of Death, and he wouldn't be where he was today.

Sebastian's intentions had been good and bad at the same time. If the current Kyle were the same Kyle, he wouldn't be dead, and his power would have increased tremendously. If the current Kyle were a different Kyle, then why would he even care about what Sebastian had done to the old Kyle? After all, in that case, they wouldn't be the same Kyle.

Usually, discerning actions and intentions was quite straightforward, even if they were conflicting. Sadly, this entire death and resurrection thing was too abstract and philosophical. Even the actions were open to interpretation. Had Sebastian actually killed Kyle or not?

But at the same time, if the past Kyle hadn't died, the current Kyle wouldn't exist.

Assuming they were the same Kyle, then Kyle had never truly died.

Assuming they were different Kyles, then Kyle should be somewhat thankful that Sebastian had killed the old Kyle.

After all, he wouldn't exist otherwise.

'Everything's so messy,' Kyle thought. 'In a way, I feel like I should still be pissed with him, but I also don't really feel angry with him.'

'Why does life have to be so complicated? Can't we just have an easy, straightforward answer? Why does it always have to be grey? Can't we just have some black and white for a change?'

Everyone remained silent as they waited, and a couple of minutes later, something finally changed.

The Energy of the world parted, and a hole in reality appeared. However, this was not a Spatial Tear but a stable hole that the world had created voluntarily.

A moment later, a tall man with black hair stepped through the hole in reality. When Kyle saw the uniform of the man, long-forgotten memories shot through his mind.

These were the uniforms of the Array of Stars.

Yet, Kyle also felt like he recognized the person. He was sure that he had seen this person before.

Then, he realized where he had seen this person before.

It was back when Kyle had been stuck inside that one newly-formed Planet. This man had freed him, and the two of them had had a conversation. That was also when Kyle had learned a bit more about the two Gods that were fighting.

As the man arrived, the entire world seemed to stabilize. It was like all of reality was within his control.

When Kyle felt the man's power...

He felt nothing.

He felt like a Mortal.

This could only mean that this man's power was so much greater than Kyle's that he couldn't even perceive it.

When the man arrived, he showed a small smile and looked at the group.
