Strongest Necromancer System

Chapter 1028: The Grumpy Phoenix

Esdath was the most excited about Jason gaining this Beast – even more excited than all the other elders combined! Esdath began to beg Jason to reconsider leaving Diran! Staying in the Eastern Mountain Sect would allow Jason to go into secluded training and focus on strengthening his Qi as much as possible, and Jason could become a full-fledged Qi Master! The offer seemed appealing, and Jason would have agreed to it if he didn’t have the system!

’I’d rather go out and kill Primordials to gain strength than focus on just strengthening my Qi. I’ll come back to Diran some other time, but for now, I think I should have enough powerful Qi to take my Resonance to the next level.’

Jason gave a simple answer to Esdath’s ranting, and Esdath couldn’t really say anything to that since he understood that Jason was right. The entire reason Jason had come here to do all this in the first place was because Jason was trying to strengthen his Resonance by taking his Qi to the next level, and now that Jason had gained an element and a Soul Beast, Jason’s Resonance would probably jump by almost two hundred percent efficiency!

’Fine then. But you’ll have to put some more time into nurturing the Beast. It’ll be a shame to gain something like that and ignore its potential.’

This was all Esdath said in response to Jason’s claim, and Jason hummed in understanding. Jason had already been planning on doing that, so Esdath didn’t really need to tell him!

After Jason was done with his conversations, he finally told the Elders that he would be returning to the inn he came from to rest. The Elders were all disappointed, and many of them protested since they didn’t want him to sleep in an inn when their mansions were much better, but Jason didn’t give them much of a choice, and in the end, he left with Stella and the Phoenix! The stares Jason got from the people around him as he headed towards the inn was probably something that he would never get used to. The cultivators gawked at the Phoenix like it was something that should not exist in this realm, and there were even people who fell to their knees once they saw it!

Jason was sure that if this was a regular cultivation manhua, then there would be secret sects looking to recruit him before tomorrow! But Jason ignored all those people, and he focused on trying to form a better relationship with his new subordinate. But Jason had realised rather quickly that unlike his other subordinates, the Crimson Phoenix wasn’t a hundred percent obedient!

The phoenix had a strong personality, and it was quite stubborn, so even when Jason told it to go into his Alternate Dimension, the phoenix said it would much rather stay outside to enjoy the fresh air! And so Jason couldn’t hide the massive bird from anyone he passed on the way to the inn!

Now, Jason was sitting in his room and meditating in a cross-legged position with his hands joined in front of him, and his eyes closed. The phoenix was sitting opposite Jason with its own eyes closed, and Stella was staying on the bed and watching him with a curious gaze! As Jason meditated, Stella could see the Qi Matrices on him pulsing with a red light, and the phoenix was also pulsing with that same frequency! The two of them were in perfect sync! Stella couldn’t deny that she wanted to touch the phoenix badly! The bird looked majestic and powerful, but it was also unbelievably cute, and it had this attractive aura around it that just made you want to pet it! But the flames rising from various parts of the phoenix’s body and the memory of what happened to the elder previously stopped Stella from doing anything stupid!

Jason, meanwhile, was completely lost in his meditation. Jason was trying to see just how much progress he had really made in his Qi cultivation, and Jason was shocked when he realised that his Internal Qi Rank had actually surpassed the External Qi Rank! Jason knew that the Internal Qi had been lagging behind because of his lack of a Qi element all this time, so it was satisfying to see how much progress he made with this one improvement!

The prompts from Jason’s system also gave Jason a lot of satisfaction! The skill [False Immortality] was so broken that Jason couldn’t help but laugh when he saw it! It was very similar to the [Soul Mate] skill, but the fact that it didn’t require any mana or Qi to be activated immediately made it better than the Soul Mate skill! Since Phoenixes were beasts that could be reborn from fire even after complete death, Jason knew that a skill like this would eventually evolve into [True Immortality], and it would give him the ability to also rise from the ashes after death! All Jason had to do to gain this ability was to train the Phoenix up to the point where it was mature enough to grant him all the benefits it could!

Right now, the phoenix was basically a toddler – even though it was very prideful already! Even as a toddler, its strength was already at the same level as what Stella possessed [Titan Rank II]! If the two of them fought, Jason had a feeling that Stella might be skilled enough to survive for some time, but the Phoenix would eventually kill her using its eternal Crimson Flames! A creature that was this powerful needed to be used properly, and Jason realised he had an obligation to grow the Phoenix to its full potential so it would help him like the rest of his subordinates.

Jason finally opened his eyes, and he saw that the Phoenix was sitting in front of him with its eyes closed and a grumpy expression on its face! Jason couldn’t stop himself from smiling when he saw that! For a toddler, this little guy was really grumpy! It felt like Jason was sitting in front of those old men that tell kids to get off their lawn!

Jason reached forward and grabbed the Phoenix’s face in his hands, and the Phoenix suddenly opened its eyes and gave Jason a sharp glare.

<Master. Troublemaker.>

The Phoenix squawked at Jason while trying to shake Jason off its face, but Jason’s smile just widened as he suddenly jumped on the Phoenix with the excitement of a child and grabbed it into a tight hug!

SQWACK!

’Hey! Hey! What do you think you’re doing to a Phoenix! Let it go!’

Esdath cried out in shock when he saw Jason wrestling with the beast, and the Phoenix cried out in shock, and it began to flap its wings erratically while trying to get away from Jason! But Jason completely ignored them! Jason had noticed that the beast was far too grumpy, and he was going to make it open up to him whether it liked it or not!

<Off! Off! Get away!>

The phoenix started pecking Jason’s head, and Jason chuckled!

"Stop glaring at me, you grumpy bastard!"

Jason grinned in amusement as he wrapped an arm around the Phoenix’s neck and began to press his knuckle into the Phoenix’s head like he was punishing a little child! The Phoenix squawked in shock as it flapped its massive wings and blew an intense flame across the entire room!

Phwoom!

"Whoa!"

Jason laughed as he quickly used his own abilities to extinguish all the flames, and he dived back in to continue the wrestling match!

At the side, Stella watched the interaction between Jason and his Beast with a look of absolute shock on her face! Stella already knew that Jason had a very boyish attitude towards those he cared about, but this was the first time she would see him acting so carefree and excited.
