Harold had a tired look on his face, and he gave Valeria a small smile when she looked at him before he rubbed the part of his stomach that the phoenix had healed.
"Thanks for coming to help me back there."
Harold spoke up as Valeria came to sit beside him, and Valeria shook her head and said it was fine.
"Uhm... you’re welcome. Family looks out for each other."
Harold raised a brow when he heard this from Valeria, and Harold felt a bit of amusement rising from deep inside him! That didn’t sound like something Valeria would ever say by herself, so Harold figured that she must’ve heard it from someone else recently.
"I’m guessing Jason said that to you after healing me?"
Valeria’s cheeks reddened slightly, and she cursed how smart Harold was. Valeria pouted before nodding, and Harold chuckled! Harold reached out to pat her on the head, but Valeria dodged Harold’s hand and frowned at him.
"Don’t treat me like a child. Lie down and get some more rest; you look exhausted."
Even though Harold was completely healed, the Phoenix healing was not the same as when a wound was healed using mana. Since the Phoenix used Qi to heal and Harold was not a Qi practitioner, the healing took a lot more stamina away from Harold, and Harold needed to rest more to replenish it. But Harold shook his head and shifted around on the bed to get more comfortable.
"I need to talk to Jason. It’s important."
"Jason went to another domain to deal with a problem there, but he should be back soon. I’m sure Stella can get the message to him somehow."
Ka-Cha!
The sound of the door opening made Valeria turn around, and she saw Stella entering the room with one of Jason’s subordinates. Stella put her hands in front of her and bowed to Harold respectfully.
"Hello, Prince Harold. I’m happy to see you’ve awakened safely."
Harold smiled and nodded to Stella, and he spoke up calmly.
"Your Mana Essence, I can feel it’s that of an Avaran. You’re a pure-blood, aren’t you?"
Stella smiled.
"Yes, my prince. I was once a lowly member of the royal guard in the Avaran Army. But after the fall of our world, I wandered across dimensions for a long time before I was found and welcomed by my master, Prince Jason. I am now in service of the royal family once more."
Harold couldn’t stop himself from smiling when he heard all this. Although Harold didn’t really know Stella, Harold could see that she had a lot of loyalty to his family! Harold had not been on Avaran when it went down. Back then, Harold had been in the Second Domain studying in one of the Academies under Queen Rak’hael. Harold had actually been surprised that he got into the academy at all since he knew that his father and Queen Rak’hael didn’t see eye to eye after the marriage incident a few years ago, but thankfully there hadn’t been any issue with his enrolment.
After studying in the Academy, Harold eventually became one of the scientists in the research lab, and it was when he was working in the lab that he heard about the fall of Avaran through one of his spies. It had been completely unexpected, and for a long time Harold hadn’t been able to do any work since he was tracking down most of his family members. But thankfully, most of the Avaran princes and princesses had been staying with their mothers when the attack occurred, so there were no serious casualties from the royal family.
Harold was glad that there were still soldiers from that era who had some loyalty to their family. Harold shifted around on the bed with another groan before he repeated his request.
"I need to speak to Jason. Can you get me through to him?"
Stella nodded and gestured to the Machina subordinate standing beside her.
"This is one of Master Jason’s subordinates. You may pass any message you have through this subordinate, and it will certainly reach Master Jason."
Harold raised a surprised brow at the subordinate, but Harold didn’t let this surprise last for long since Harold already knew that Jason had a necromantic ability. And besides, all the Avarans had strange abilities that they absorbed from other races, so learning that Jason could receive messages through subordinates wasn’t really that surprising.
Harold turned towards the subordinate and spoke in a serious tone.
"Jason, if you’re listening, I need you to know that the secret to stopping the Celestial of Death lies in your hands..."
Somewhere in the Eighth Domain, Jason had been moving from Nox towards the world of Lunaris, but Jason stopped his trip across worlds as he heard Harold’s words echo through his head. Jason turned curiously to listen as Harold continued speaking.
"... I heard about the Celestial of Death from a seer a few days ago. I was on my way to Earth to tell you about this before I was attacked by the King’s Guard. Jason, you need to find the woman named Agiel. I’m sure you already know who I’m talking about. She lives on a world called Jadar, and she is about to get married. If that marriage goes through, then the entire Primordial Expanse might as well be doomed."
Jason frowned as he felt a strange pain somewhere in his chest once he heard the name Agiel. Jason had put all thoughts of Agiel out of his head ever since he learned about the Celestial of Death, but Harold bringing her back up like this made everything come back to the front of his mind, and Jason did not like that at all!
What the hell was Harold talking about? How was Agiel meant to help him do anything about this madness?
Jason took off towards Lunaris again, but he continued listening to Harold’s words.
"I know the history between our family and Agiel’s family is pretty bad. Father was responsible for putting Agiel’s world in this situation by not accepting Agiel’s mother, but I have a feeling that things would be far worse if you do not accept your destiny with Agiel. I would like to say that I won’t force you into this, but you really don’t have any other choice, Jason. You have to accept this, or we are all doomed."
Harold went silent as he finally finished talking, and he waited for some sort of response from Jason. Harold had no idea how this whole communication thing worked, so he wondered if the subordinate would be able to send Jason’s response back to him! But after close to ten minutes of nothing happening, Harold was starting to become impatient, and he was about to ask Stella how they could get a response.
[King’s Substitute]
But all of a sudden, the subordinate in front of Harold vanished, and Harold jolted in surprise as Jason appeared in front of him! Jason had a scowl on his face as he stared at Harold, and Harold put his hand over his chest and sighed! Holy shit, that was terrifying! Is this how Jason just appeared in front of people? Harold was shocked that Jason hadn’t given someone a heart attack yet!
Jason turned to Stella and Valeria.
"Give us the room."
This was all Jason said, and the women both understood that Jason wanted some privacy with Harold. Stella immediately bowed in agreement and began to leave, but Valeria was not so happy about being told to leave, and she was about to say something. But Jason just narrowed his eyes at her in annoyance, and in that moment Valeria was reminded so much of their father that she actually felt her complaints die in her throat! Valeria frowned for a moment before she muttered a quiet ’whatever’ and turned to leave with Stella!
Once the two women were gone, Jason turned to Harold.
"What did you mean I have to accept Agiel?"
