Chapter 1060: The Man Behind it All

In truth, although King Tigal was a very powerful man, Vinaris knew that Tigal was not very smart. For the past ten years, Vinaris was the one who had been pulling the strings of the kingdom from behind the scenes. Vinaris had filled Tigal’s head with thoughts of the Queen for years, and Vinaris made Tigal believe that the Queen should’ve chosen him as the King.

Vinaris dropped hints about the Queen being a failure many times, and when Tigal brought up the idea of a coup, Vinaris was the first person to show his support and push Tigal to begin the bloody Jadar war! Even though Tigal was a fool at life, he was a brilliant warrior and a great general, so the coup had been won flawlessly!

And now that Tigal was the King, Vinaris had finally fulfilled his greatest mission of becoming the advisor and sole voice in the ear of the most powerful man in Jadar. But recently, there was a new plan Vinaris was working towards, and in order to complete it, Vinaris had convinced Tigal that he could cement his legacy in Jadar by getting married to the daughter of the previous Queen! All of this was to complete the mission of Vinaris’ master, and it wouldn’t be long now before he achieved his grand goal.

"THAT FOOL!"

Tigal threw another tantrum while slamming his fist into the wall, and the entire castle seemed to shake from the impact! Vinaris quickly stepped forward and spoke up before Tigal could bring the room down on their heads in his stupidity.

"Your Majesty, today is your wedding. Getting agitated by the actions of lesser men is beneath you, especially on such an auspicious day. I believe it will be best for us to forget about the Overlord and focus on what is more important."

Tigal turned to look at Vinaris with an angry expression, but when Tigal saw the calm look on Vinaris’ face, Tigal finally let out a long breath, and he calmed down! Yes, Vinaris was right like always. Getting worked up over the foolish Overlord was not right. Tigal had to make sure he was in the best condition for his future bride.

Tigal nodded to Vinaris.

"Thank you, Vinaris. I can always count on you to give me the best advice. And thank you for suggesting we move the wedding up. I would’ve been far more agitated if I had to postpone the wedding."

Vinaris gave the King a snake-like smile in return.

"Of course, Your Majesty. Everything I do, I do for the glory of your kingdom."

Tigal’s face split into a wide smile, and he pat Vinaris on the back a few times!

"You are a good man, Vinaris. You will have anything you want when my rule is solidified in this world. Maybe one day I can even seek the throne of the Overlord himself and become the new ruler of this domain! That fool Farlow does not deserve to be on that seat! HAHAHAHA~!"

Tigal suddenly threw his head back and began to laugh loudly, and Vinaris narrowed his eyes as he got a message from someone far away. Vinaris’ mouth split into a sly smile, and he stepped away from the King and bowed his head slightly.

"I am glad to be in your presence, my Lord."

King Tigal frowned slightly when he saw Vinaris do this, and somewhere deep inside him, Tigal knew that Vinaris was not speaking to him. Tigal stepped forward to ask Vinaris what he was doing, but Tigal stopped as he saw a bright blue light shining from beside him! Tigal turned and watched as a blue Dimensional Gate tore open on his left, and a prideful voice echoed from beyond the gate.

"Woe be it, that I have to set foot in such a desolate world of pathetic crawling creatures so beneath me. How despicable! How detestable! This is beyond immoral that my exalted self would ever need to lower my standards to even consider interacting with creatures of your standing! But thankfully, even in your detestable existence, you still rank above those pathetic females who do not even deserve to gaze upon my grandeur! Yes, you unworthy creatures shall know of my greatness!"

A man stepped forward from the Dimensional Tear and looked around with pure white eyes! The man was dressed in the purest white robe, and his pure white hair seemed to shine in the dim light of the room! The Mind Apostle was as pompous and prideful as ever, and after looking around the room with a sneer, he finally looked down his nose at King Tigal and said.

"You dare not bow to me, worm. You might be a better creature than the lowly women, but do not believe even for a moment that you are on the same level as my great self."

"What? Who the hell is this?"

Tigal turned to Vinaris angrily, and his magic was already starting to flow from his body as he prepared for a fight! But the Mind Apostle spoke up as he walked towards Tigal slowly!

"Who am I!? WHO AM I!? I am the lord of existence! The prince of eternity! I am the principle of this universe and the sole entity blessed with authority over all creation! I am Mind, and you will show me my respect! Now, look into my eyes."

King Tigal immediately tried to reach for his sword, but Vinaris suddenly appeared behind the King and grabbed his arms from behind to hold him steady! Tigal was so stunned by the betrayal that he actually let his guard down for a single moment! And it was in that moment that the Mind Apostle’s eyes flashed with a kaleidoscope of hundreds of different colors, and he activated one of the three Attributes of his Arcane Art.

[Mental Corruption]!

The King felt his entire life flash before his eyes, and he suddenly lost all control over his body and fell to his knees! [Mind Corruption] was the simplest of the Attributes within the Mind Arcane Art. This attribute had two conditions for activating it! The first condition was that the Mind Apostle had to view whoever he wished to control as someone beneath him, and the second condition was that the person had to be in a state of mind where they were actively being oppressed by the Mind Apostle! This meant that person had to be either scared, weary, angry, or submissive towards the Mind Apostle! It was a very simple attribute, but it was brilliantly effective!

This was the same Attribute that the Mind Apostle had used against Diane of the Bengari! Back then, he had been able to control Diane because she felt cautious when none of her attacks worked on him! And since the Mind Apostle viewed all women as beneath him at all times, the skill had worked easily! And now, the Mind Apostle was able to take over Tigal so easily because Tigal had felt a sense of helplessness when he was betrayed by his advisor! If Tigal had maintained his calm even in the face of that betrayal, then the Mind Apostle would not have been able to take over his mind!

There were two other Attributes that the Mind Apostle possessed, and although they were both more powerful than this one, they also had their own set of conditions that needed to be fulfilled before they could be activated.

Once the Mind Apostle was sure that Attribute had worked properly, he spoke up in a commanding tone.

"On your feet, pleb. I do not have time for your pathetic groveling. Although the grace of groveling before me is more than most creatures can ever hope to attain! You should be grateful that I have allowed you to kneel at my feet!"
