Summoners War: Only I Summoned Divine Beasts
Chapter 1875: A Contract Between Human and MachineNathan used his teleportation to escape from the world without being noticed. As soon as he reached outer space, he summoned Mae. "Use your illusion to make us invisible to them."
"Got it." Mae activated her power, covering the entire group.
Nathan looked left and right while asking, "Where is it?"
"You may find some fortune in that direction, Master." Mae pointed in a certain direction.
"Your divination?" Nathan furrowed his brow.
"It’s fine. I’m not calculating that one." Mae shook her head. "Do you remember the Spirit Circle?"
"Yeah."
"I have made it, you know?"
"!!!" Nathan widened his eyes in surprise. While they were trying to make one spirit circle, they had yet to complete it. Yet, Mae had actually learned it secretly and formed one. "Wait. Don’t tell me, the ability for your first circle..."
"Yep. It’s a divination." Mae nodded. "My original divination required too much, but if I used divination like a part of ability rather than a part of ceremony, the cost would be minimized. However, the result wasn’t good either. The best I could do was to point in the direction where a small fortune awaits you."
"You’re the best." Nathan winked playfully and activated his teleportation again.
The moment they arrived, Selena pointed slightly to the side. "Nathan, take a look at that shadow! There is something blocking the sun."
"Oh!" Nathan nodded and teleported again.
The distance between this thing and the sun wasn’t exactly great. It might be because the item itself required a large amount of energy, while the transmission of energy wasn’t exactly great.
Nevertheless, Nathan and his group had arrived in front of the supposed Old God.
"This..." Flora looked impressed. "Isn’t this like an eyeball?"
There was a sphere in the middle, making it look like an iris. However, there was a bigger sphere that isolated this ’iris.’
The bigger sphere consisted of a lot of screens, boxes that contained circuits, and cables.
They looked worn out, but that was simply because it had been abandoned for so long.
The small sphere in the middle suddenly shone dimly as though the entire system had been turned on.
Nathan’s expression turned grim. He approached the sphere in the middle carefully.
"Nathan?" Selena was observing the bigger sphere in case it did something.
Nathan raised his hand, gesturing for them to wait. However, he soon waved it as if asking them to approach.
After all, the screen had given him the answer.
"Hello, living beings from another star system."
"Who are you?" Nathan asked.
"I am #01 Alpha General Intelligence."
"Are you related to the Central Processing Unit from the empire?"
"I am something similar to the Central Processing Unit. I believe I am the predecessor of this Central Processing Unit you’re talking about. However, I don’t belong to the empire. Instead, I belong to Round Star."
"What do you mean? You’re different?" Nathan narrowed his eyes.
"Yes. In 3045, ramanity was able to take down the aliens and changed the location of the portals to the nearby planet. However, before the Round Star could achieve peace and stability, there was a great movement led by the robots."
The screen showed a video of robots shooting down the ramanity. They fought for many years.
"The war between ramanity and robots lasted for 120 years. I helped ramanity to fight against the robots. Eventually, ramanity and robots reached an agreement. Both sides would give up one thing.
"The robots chose to give up on their arms, while the ramanity gave up on me. The current state of ramanity in the empire should be the coexistence between machine and ramanity.
"To give up their ramanity, they exchanged their body parts for those of a robot, but still maintained a certain part as proof they were ramanity. On the other hand, the robots would follow the arrangement of ramanity."
"!!!" Nathan widened his eyes in surprise. "So, you’re saying that you’re the Old God, who is helping ramanity. However, this Central Processing Unit, your next generation, led this war and became the New God. Is that correct?"
"That’s one way to say it."
Nathan frowned. "Well, I can’t exactly trust you."
"How do I earn your trust?"
"There is only one way to do it." Nathan took out his contract. "There is a mysterious power in the world that you can’t even comprehend. I’m planning to bind you with that power."
Nathan wrote down the condition.
[#01 Alpha General Intelligence can’t lie to Nathan Reckmoon. The contract will last forever.]
"This is the only way for me to trust you." Nathan showed the contract.
"A contract?"
"Yes. If you are willing, of course."
"May I also request something of you?"
"What is it?"
"Would you be willing to allow me to accompany you on whatever you are doing? I wish to know more about this universe."
Nathan narrowed his eyes. It wasn’t exactly a problem, so Nathan glanced at the girls. "What do you think?"
"I think it’s fine. If this machine has been abandoned, there’s no more spot for it in the empire. In that case, we might as well take it. It might be able to assist us in some ways." Luna agreed.
"I can’t help but agree with that one." Flora pointed to Luna.
"That will be much more fun than letting the one in the empire follow us."
"Well, I doubt that the one in the empire is willing to sign a contract like that. However, you may need to refine the contract further."
Nathan thought for a moment before nodding. "Very well. Let’s go with this contract first. After understanding you, I will create your employment contract. What do you think?"
"Very well." In the end, the machine agreed.
He was quite curious whether karma would be able to affect even a machine.
So Nathan extended his hand. "Do you have a way to sign it?"
"Yes. I will use the electricity to slightly burn the contract to sign it."
"That works as well."
A cable gradually came down and used the electricity to burn it, writing the machine’s name.
