Chapter 1214: Chapter 1213: Inescapably Involved

"Thank you, Jiang. You should eat too." Cloud took a piece of cookie and handed one to Jiang Cheng. Though she was really hungry, she only gingerly took one piece and ate it slowly in front of Jiang Cheng.

Jiang Cheng smiled and didn’t accept the cookie. "No problem, I ate when you were sleeping yesterday." Jiang Cheng playfully raised his eyebrows at Cloud.

Cloud looked at Jiang Cheng and laughed as well, continuing to eat her cookie without saying anything more.

Jiang Cheng pondered the method he had just seen. It was simply two words: "Destroy it," essentially breaking this door. But the risk was significant; he didn’t know what negative consequences might occur after destroying the door. He had already tried all the methods he could think of, including using the Adaptive Device he utilized when Mantasha had captured him. However, since they were already underground and Jiang Cheng suspected they could hit the volcanic layer below, which would be extremely dangerous. He could only hope this method would work. Jiang Cheng took out his Plasma Ultrasonic Cannon, a tool capable of shattering the toughest Space Exit, and thought it might be able to break the whole secret chamber door.

"Cloud, I’m about to figure out how to open this door. Once it’s open, you need to run out first, understood?" Jiang Cheng said seriously while looking at Cloud.

"But what about you, Jiang? You will come out with me, won’t you?" Cloud asked worriedly, feeling that Jiang Cheng might be in danger. "How about we don’t leave just yet; I believe Zhao Shuai will come to find us."

"Don’t worry, we’ll be alright. But we can’t wait here; it’s not a safe place to stay."

Jiang Cheng couldn’t help but find it amusing that despite being a scientist, he ended up using such a primitive method to escape.

Just as Jiang Cheng was about to fire, he heard footsteps from outside, and Cloud heard them too. "Jiang..." Cloud suddenly whispered and saw Jiang Cheng motioning for silence.

Jiang Cheng shook his head at Cloud; he wasn’t sure who was outside, and it would be bad if they were Li People.

"Jiang, Cloud, are you in there?" The voice outside belonged to Zhao Shuai.

"Zhao Shuai, it’s us!" Cloud shouted happily.

At this moment, Jiang Cheng was also excited; this seemed to be the best method, and there probably wouldn’t be any danger.

"Shuai, it’s us. Are you alone?" Jiang Cheng asked.

"Great, Jiang, it’s really you guys! I’m so thrilled." Zhao Shuai said excitedly.

"I came with Rongfeng; he’s currently looking for the mechanism to enter." Zhao Shuai said.

"Is it this protruding stone?" Qi Rongfeng asked at this moment.

"Yes, press it, and it’ll open." Jiang Cheng said.

Qi Rongfeng pressed the stone, and the stone door opened. Jiang Cheng was delighted as he could finally get out, "Cloud, hurry up," Jiang Cheng pulled Cloud and exited the stone door.

As soon as they got out, Jiang Cheng was enveloped in Zhao Shuai’s embrace, "Jiang, thank goodness you’re alright. I was really scared that I wouldn’t be able to see you."

"Let go... let go, I can’t breathe," Jiang Cheng said weakly.

Zhao Shuai quickly released Jiang Cheng, noticing his face was flushed red and awkwardly scratched his head, "Jiang, I was just too excited."

"Hahaha," Jiang Cheng laughed looking at Zhao Shuai and Qi Rongfeng with Cloud.

"Cloud, how did you get in? Are you alright?" Zhao Shuai asked, walking over to Cloud.

"See, you’re always most concerned about Jiang," Cloud pout. "If it wasn’t for rescuing you, Jiang wouldn’t be in this place." Zhao Shuai said.

"Enough, let’s not argue. Let’s hurry back; this place is dangerous." Qi Rongfeng noticed they were about to bicker again and quickly said.

"Yes, let’s leave quickly," Jiang Cheng said. Just as he finished speaking, he saw the secret chamber door closing again and the ceiling of the tunnel showing signs of collapsing.

Everyone on site was shocked as they saw rocks falling from above. "Hurry!" Zhao Shuai shouted, and Jiang Cheng and the others ran swiftly outside.

But the tunnel’s collapse was speeding up, and everyone was increasingly nervous while running. Cloud, due to her physical condition, was falling behind. Jiang Cheng saw a giant rock about to fall on her head and quickly lunged at Cloud to protect her. He closed his eyes, and at that moment...

The imagined heavy pressure didn’t come down on Jiang Cheng. He looked up to see the stone above had not fallen, but it was still highly dangerous. He breathed a sigh of relief as the collapse ceased. All four stopped to catch their breath.

Jiang Cheng saw that the place they were in now was something he hadn’t seen entering previously, suggesting maybe this tunnel wasn’t as small as it appeared. Jiang Cheng was quite puzzled.

"Did you see this place when you entered?" Jiang Cheng asked.

"Seems like we didn’t," Zhao Shuai said, "Yeah we didn’t see it." Qi Rongfeng looked at the area.

Jiang Cheng suddenly thought of the fork he encountered when he came in, opting to follow Cloud’s distress signal and take the left path. Now, he wondered if they had mistakenly ended up on the right path amidst the chaos.

"Did you see a fork when you entered?" Jiang Cheng asked. Zhao Shuai scratched his head, and Qi Rongfeng furrowed his brows, "Seems like we didn’t."

"Yeah, Jiang, when we came in, there was only one path," Zhao Shuai said.

Jiang Cheng grew even more puzzled. He was sure there was a fork when he came in, but now Zhao Shuai and Qi Rongfeng said there was only one path. What was going on?

"Jiang, can we get out now?" Qi Rongfeng turned on his phone light to examine the surrounding walls. During the collapse, the corridor lights were destroyed, making the tunnel very dark. "This place only has one exit, but now it’s blocked by stones. How are we supposed to get out?" Qi Rongfeng said, looking at the surroundings.

Jiang Cheng also noticed there was only one exit, which was blocked. He was worried that any movement might cause further collapse. But why did it collapse in the first place? He couldn’t figure it out. Then Jiang Cheng heard footsteps, "Do you guys hear footsteps?"

"No, Jiang, there are only four of us here, don’t scare me," Zhao Shuai said, shivering in fear, feeling goosebumps all over.

"Can you stop being so scared, Zhao Shuai? With Jiang here we can definitely get out." Cloud glared at Zhao Shuai.

"Hey, Cloud, Jiang? When did you start getting so cozy with Jiang?"

"Stop talking," Jiang Cheng said, taking out the ultrasonic probe. He saw the probe indicator light up, and Jiang felt uneasy; it seemed there really was someone else here.

A moment later, the indicator light went out, "There’s someone else here," Jiang Cheng said.

"What? How’s that possible? Rongfeng, the tunnel door was closed when we left, right?" Zhao Shuai asked.

"Yes, and no one in our house should know about this tunnel."

Jiang Cheng suspected the person in the tunnel might be from Li Country, and the previous danger was likely connected to them. The safest route now was to get out immediately.
